When I was growing up until about 3 years ago, my grandpa had a stack of mule deer antler that would have filled two-three trucks like that. He went out to find them, but hardly ever sold them. If he did sell them, it was a set that was worth more because they were just a giant beautiful set he had mounted.
When my grandma passed away a few years ago, he finally sold all his stash. Never did get him to tell me what they went for.
This dude makes a living by walking beautiful country and finding sheds, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little jealous
you could be doing it also! Live the dream
He doesn't find them pretty sure he just buys them off other dealers.
Out here in Alaska we get $10 a pound for moose sheds. For 1 shed u can get up to $250
Great video!!! Love watching your videos because they are full of great information. There is always a good chance your going to get a laugh or two out of them too.
this was a cool video. nice to see the end result of all the hard work. i have a hard time partin with my sheds, guess it might be different if i was dealin with 100s or 1000s of em lol. your livin alot of guys/gals dreams... keep it up!
I've bought and sold a little over the years. It's fun to see all different kinds of antlers and visit with shed hunters. Even get spot tips from guys who aren't serious hunters
It is fun for sure to see what everyone finds.
Awesome video thanks for sharing all the information on your shed sales
Learning to trap could be a good a way to fill the time between hunting season and shed hunting while saving deer and elk from yotes! Good content for an outdoor channel too.
Its good to know there is still ppl out there that share there besness and try to help ppl make money that they didnt know they could make! #KEEPONKEEPINGON #SHEDSFORDAZZZZ
I find this to be very interesting. I’m a land surveyor in New Jersey, and I find quite a few white tail sheds while working, but didn’t realize they had any value. I give them to my black lab. She loves them!!!
Justin Platt screw the dog sell them
It's against the law to sell deer antlers or any other part of the deer in, New Jersey.
@@truebuldog venison is illegal in NJ????
@@kirkbupkis no,
you can hunt it, kill it ,eat it.
But not sell it unless you buy it from a meat supplier at a exorbitant price whole sale and sell it retail in a store.
Meaning you can Not kill it and sell it yourself.
But you can not sell deer antlers or any part of a deer in nj unless it was purchased from a Commercial supplier.
I'm a tribal member from the white mountains of Arizona, exclusive access. Each year I collect about 1000 - 2,000lbs of sheds until my trailer is full and I sell em where I live now in Utah. Awesome hobby for a little extra income each year.
Husky Terra I’m jealous! I’d love to hunt that country! That’s awesome you have that opportunity
Husky 701 60lbs equals 800-1000 dollars. Your doing well my brother.
I have sold twice once to Great Basin antler buyer which was the best experience out of the two times I would recommend him to everyone and would sell to him again if he’s ever back in wa and the first time was to a guy that I have seen in town several times and being the first time selling I didn’t know what to expect or how it worked but he docked me for every chew mark on the antlers even the brown ones with a little ding or break from fighting he was knocking off money which made me very hesitant for the next time when I drove three hours to sell. The local guy graded them into way more than 3 grades. Thanks for the vids Ben and keep up the great work!
I work with Great Basin as well. Never had a sale i wasn’t totally happy with in several years.
I've sold to Jared a few times, definitely a good buyer and always has some cool sets to drool over.
id love to dig threw a pile of sheds like that. the things i could make from them would be so cool.
Jared is a good guy! Sell all my horns to him. That’s a ton of bone that just drove away in his truck😧😧😧😧😧! Keep it up man!!!
Great info. Thanks for sharing!
my dad got ripped off the first time he sold antlers a few years ago. A certain stubby guy from colorado took advantage of his lack of knowledge. We have since sold to much more reputable utah buyers.
Love to see a video with different sheds on the scale to get a better idea of what they weigh... like couple different sizes in each category... always here numbers from guys but they seem to vary quite a bit.
The Grinch that’s a good idea!
What do these buyers do with all these antlers ? I've heard of many hunters finding and selling these sheds. All I know is that it provides income when there isn't income in the household for some reason.
How much did you make? just curious
Great Video. Thanks for all of the great information. Hoping to sell my sheds from this year in the fall. Is there a better time of year, or do the prices remain about the same throughout the year? I subscribed today to your channel. Love the sense of humor you have in the videos.
Thanks for the sub! Antler prices seem to peak when competition is highest, so right now basically. They will kind of taper off toward fall (usually)
my high school teacher bought antlers for his furniture business and always paid very good
Dude sweet Honda trail 90 hiding in the garage!
Morgan Hawley ahhh yeah!
Thought you were reppin' a VGK hat there for a second. Actually hotter than Mt Ops right now. Well...maybe not in Utah.
How long does it take you to get that much product. One black bear gall bladder pays 85 dollars.
Aight how much did that all weigh also my question is what if you have a giant brown set? Should i try to get a little more, like an extra 50 cents on the pound? also is it a good idea to try to find an auction for giant unique sets or just sell em by the pound?
Northern Pursuit it was 750lbs. If you have anything over 360, you should be able to sell it to a collector for a premium price. I have seen big sets go 500-1000$
I sold a big elk set on ebay for over $700 a couple years back. Shipping was....interesting.
I must of miss heard or missed something,I thought. I heard you say,you were selling them for less than what you had into them, how does that help you make a living?
Awesome fantastic video,thanks for sharing,
My father in law sold his elk rack for 10k
What did you end up getting for the elk set? Just curious those look like the ones he picked up when I was with him. It was definitely a stud set
Jake Anderson I ended up selling them for poundage. About $350
What do you get per lb on average with brown elk horns
What are the end products? Dog chews? Furniture? Any others? How do they use chalk and hard whites?
Bret Mattausch all over the above. The majority get exported to China for supplements
Just be honest... how much do you make per year before taxes?
What are the current rates for each grade?
Whoop whoop.
What was the final weight? How much did you make?
Do you have a website to sell some online?
i would live to try this but I've never sold antlers before. so, how would i know how much to pay other people that might have a couple here & there to sell? i just want to know will it be worth my trouble
i just watched another vid about selling sheds & he didnt hve no where near the amount u did. i didnt know it was legal to carry that much cash you must hve made. wow
My question. How much did you get
So, how much was that truckload worth ?
I had a buyer weight my antlers and he would throw them into his pile and at the end I pretty much had to sell them because I could isolate my own pile. I'm pretty sure I got ripped off. I'm not going to sell to that dude anymore. A buddy referred me to him.
Jordan Rock that sounds like a shady deal
That sucks! Look up my buddy Jared Steele, Great Basin Antler. He’ll take good care of you
Do the antlers have to be sheds? Or could i sell antlers that ive harvested off of deer I shot?
They normally want only sheds.
How much did you make from that?
you should chandeliers out of them
Interesting Video! What does your buyer do with the antlers?
sends them to China to be ground up into "medicine" would be my guess
How long did it take to save all those up ?
would rather be fishing those are just what I have found and bought this year
what is theseller doing with the antlers? thnx
I think they sell them for decoration and they also use them in a Chinese medicine
What did you make on 750lbs?? Did you sell the big set? What's a big set like that worth??
Celeste Main total sale was about 9,000. I made between 500-1000 on the antler I bought and 2000 on the antler I found.
Celeste Main the big set could be worth 3-500
Did you sell big set?
Do your sets sell for a higher price? Example- the big set in the video, does it sell for quite a bit more than regular brown elk shed pricing?
Boondock Patrol they definitely can be worth more, usually it involves finding a collector and possibly shipping them, both of which are time consuming. Sometime I take the time, sometimes I include them with the poundage
Shedcrazy thanks! Ive got a stack that I need to sell. Ive got a buyer with good prices, but I havent a clue as to what a big set would sell for and didn’t want to sound nuttier than squirrel sh&* asking for a higher price when I sell. Keep the vids coming!
how much weight did you end up selling there?
About 750lbs
Shedcrazy right on thanks for the reply man keep up the good work
Shedcrazy how much money did you get for that??
Wow that's alot of antlers. How much does all that go for? You don't have to tell me how much you got just in general lol
How much cash you get broski
shedness hunting about 2k profit on my antler, and between 500-1k on the stuff I bought. Total sale was just under 9k
He's my neighbor lol.
That's a lot like selling furs. I think the more competition the better off the seller will be👍🏻
Did you sale the big set?? Cool video
Ryan heath I did
How much are you charging per lb for browns right now?
About $14 is what I’m selling them for
What is the minimum amount of poundage you sell at?
Just depends, I’ll sell whatever I have when my buyer comes trough
You didn't say how much you got for all that bone! Not my business anyway. I can't believe you parted with so many awesome sheds wow! I've heard of 1 guy buying Brown's at 25$ per pound! In Alberta.
I hear rumors like that every year. You can find guys paying primo prices but they aren’t buying quantity. Just a few here and there
Shedcrazy thanks for the reply shedcrazy. Keep on the shed hunting brother it's so fun!
Can you sell a set to anyone? Cause I would love to get a set of elk sheds. Just to add to my little collection
Robert Hughes yeah you can! The shipping is usually the hard part so finding a local seller is best
How much is chalk, white, and brown per pound? Love these videos man! Keep up the good work!
Elk will be approximately 14, 9 , 3 depending on area deer will be like 10 6 2
Do you just have the three grades of antler? I've sold quite a few out here and they always stiff you on the chalk antlers. They have a chalk A and chalk B grade with the chalk B only being $0.50 a pound.
There's are 4 classes of horn brownies, hard whites ,whites and chalk. ,Lol. you Rookie. Haaaaa.
You’re getting ripped off homie! Three classes
Why not cut them into pieces for dog bones and sell them to pet stores? That's where I buy mine when I can afford them for my 4 standard poodles.
How much did all that antler weigh?
David Schmidt about 750 lbs
On a average about how much is a pound worth if u dont mind me asking. I have thought about selling out. WoW that was ALOT of antlers lol there was know telling how many pounds their was. That's one of my favorite things to do. Unfortunately I got paralyzed in 2017 so I'm know longer able to do it. But I still hunt every chance I get lol nothing stops me just gta do things a lil different. Thanks for the video I enjoyed it!!
Hey Sharon! Sheds vary greatly in price depending on where you’re located and time of year. Brown elk is about $12 a lb in Utah right now. Glad to hear you are still able to enjoy the outdoors! Appreciate the comment and kind words
Just give me a quote so I can get in the ballpark so I know if I'm getting ripped off a b and c
Elk right now should be about 14, 9, 3 deer should be like 9 6 2
Shedcrazy thanks man heading to Montana next week for elk and mule deer!
50.000 worth of bone
What do people do with em when they buy em
Chandeliers..other decoration...japanese eat them to bang longer..
That’s all truck load of hard ons
Awesome I was wondering how they did it
Can I buy a brown elk shed of u and have it shipped here to Ohio I love shed hunting but alas we only have deer
I don’t like dealing with the shipping, it usually makes it not worth doing, but you can find them on eBay!
Yup
Not hatin, i promise, but I’m wondering why Jarred didn’t want his face shown? Makes you wonder a little.
Never asked me to no show his his face, he has his own CZcams channel, I just was busy stacking antler and didn’t film that part of it.
You didn’t say what you got you must be the shyster
#1 You forgot to mention how much per pound he was paying for each grade ! And #2 to promote your buyer !! Lol
Elk should be 13-14, 9-10, 3-4 for brown, hard white and chalk. They vary a little by areas. I sell to Great Basin Antler buyer, Jared Steele
And boom there you have it folks !!
Hi
