Great tips about in and around bedding, that is close to food. IMO the best advice on here. Also the speed, like you said cover ground in areas that are open, trust that you will see them. I prefer sunny days, I really see the antlers well with the extra light.

I'm in northern Michigan and still see antlers on deer so nouck this year yet. Found a nice 8 point and a 6 point shed. Also found a part of a giant shed that had been eaten down last year later. Love shed hunting and scouting this time of year.

I find 80 % of my WTD sheds up here in Manitoba in feeding and bedding areas where they typically yard up for the winter. That includes silage/bales. For some strange reason, I find very little on the well used deer trails in the solid bush and that includes fence crossings. Alfalfa fields are also a good spot as they hammer that all winter.

I have never found a shed on my own property, given I have never owned over 8.5 acres, but at some point you would think "luck" would get you one. I have only found a handful of sheds and they are small. They were found in food plots and 2 on a trail on a ridge. I did find one a couple hundred yards away on a neighbors place. I have a pretty active place here and get some bedding all around my property and the small lease I have next door, so fingers crossed for this year. Bucks are currently still holding as the weather is very mild and not causing a winter stressor. I typically see deer holding into April here in Tennessee.

It’s really hard in pa to on public land the animals get to them first like squirrels and coyotes. But the few I have found was in thick habitat, or food source, I’ve never just found one in the open woods. But lower area trees will knock them off and I find them in there to. Good luck

Funny you brought up doe groups, that's something I ran into when I first started shed hunting. There's very heavily used trails and a lot of deer sign in my one area, but I could never find an antler there and it always baffled me. Then upon further investigation and running cameras, I discovered it's because the trail and deer sign is from a giant herd of does.

I can tell you. Because of the winter we had, they will not drop until late February or early to mid-March, depending on food sources that are available. Most locations near me farmers leave a row or four rows of crop for deer. Which means the 1st or second week of March will be a better time to look. Sometime even late February if lucky. I saw man bucks with antlers last week.
