Very helpful review for someone undecided about the Ryker or Spyder. Heard one shorter rider say it felt like riding on top of a hippo on the Spyder RT. The Spyder F3 with all its adjustability would be better for shorter riders. We had a Spyder RT for 5 years and loved it riding 2 up. Too bad you didn’t get to test it on the freeway as that is where it really shines. Stable as a rock at high speed, tracks straight as an arrow with none of the Ryker dartiness. Also the cruise control keeps your right wrist from getting tired. Ours had heated grips and seats for cold weather. However when I test drove a Ryker it had a more playful fun factor. Glad you are sticking with yours as we would miss you.

Nice video Ms. Beth. When Can-AM first came out with the Spyder, i really wanted one. Never really looked into it. Fast forward today, Can -AM came out with the Ryker. I thought the Spyders were discontinued and this was a newer version. Lol. I always liked the three wheel concept and since i owned a street bike felt it was more stable and easier to ride. I did finally purchase a 2020 Ryker Rally here in Houston,Tx and i love it. I have to admit i like the new f3 models, but it was out of my price range. Im glad i bought the ryker. No regrets.

Hey lady! So I drove the F4, brand spanking new and I put the first 4 miles on it and I hated it. It's a great ride for what it is but my Ryker and I fit like a glove. I'm not much taller than you are and I felt lost on it. Sitting on top instead of being a part of the bike sitting IN it made a world of difference. The power steering is great but I felt like I was riding it and not driving it as compared to my 19 Rally. I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt like this. Thanks for making me feel better about my preferring the Ryker over it's big brother Spyder! Keep this great content comin' wind sister!

I went on a Spyder demo ride, & I came away with the same feelings; a Spyder you’re riding on it, BUT a Ryker, you’re riding in it. I’m glad I found out for myself the differences, & would consider getting a Shoer one day for the comfort of long trips due to a spine issue, BUT until then, I’m “Ryker” all the way, baby!!!

Lots of power and comfort. I’m 6 ft 180 lbs and it fits me perfect. You should try an F3-S or T because of the adjustability to fit a specific rider. I agree with you about the RT. I really enjoy your videos, especially the one on trailers since I’ve been considering the Stinger vs just a cheaper 6X10. Keep up the great video. I’m subscribed now. 👍

I am nearing retirement and the Spyder RT is exactly what I am looking for to take long travels on. Thanks again and enjoy your Ryker.

I'm vertically challenged too at 5'6". Lamonster garage does make a 1.5" billet aluminum brake pedal riser for the RT that would help out quite a bit for shorter riders. Looks factory too. The RT and F3 are definitely different beasts than the Ryker. I had ridden both before and wasn't really keen on them and knew I wasn't getting on any more 2 wheelers with my physical handicaps. I didn't see them as even an option for me. So when the Ryker came out and I was able to try it, it was love at first ryde. I will say, the 20-21 RT's are much improved over previous years. Thinking about one down the road. Great video Beth

Hey Beth - I totally agree with the others that you skipped right over the F3/F3S to the RT. I’m 6’1 and the seating position of an RT was like riding on top of it instead of in it. With the adjustable legs on the F3 can give you a whole “cruiser” like position. You’re going to eventually want to go further places with your machine and the Ryker won’t give that comfortable feeling long distance. F3-S is definitely the way to go! 😊

Beth, I love your honest, informative take on these bikes. I don’t think you mentioned the fact that although you don’t HAVE to downshift, you CAN if you want to. Before buying my ‘22 RTL, I had the opportunity to check out a Sea to Sky. I found that the somewhat plusher seat on the S2S put me up higher than I was comfortable with. My only gripes with my RTL in my 2100+ miles of riding so far is how laggy the throttle response is (Pedal Box, anyone?) and how flimsy the “Tupperware” is on these things. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the F3….

I had the same exact problem when I was took classes to learn how to ride it. The model was a much older one but I still couldn't reach the break pedal properly and I wound up not finishing because they didn't have anything to fit me. Considering how long those things have been on the market there must be a pretty healthy choice of aftermarket parts. I wouldn't be surprised to find out somebody makes a brake extension. (pretty much just pull the rubber cover off the pedal, bolt a spacer block to the top of the pedal, put the rubber cover onto the spacer block) Seems like it would be a pretty simple thing to invent to make a $30k machine more usable.

I loved the feel of the Ryker as you are right, when you sit on it, totally in the pocket. Total solo bike though which you said. Not feasible for me as I do serious touring. So Shorty Beth what you need do to achieve a good riding position is take a block of wood or metal and attach it to the brake pad and that way you achieve what your aims are to enjoy the Spyder to it fullest capacity.
Still in two minds whether or not to buy an F3 here in the UK as my eyes are progressing backwards to blindness and need an operation to counter-act that. But if and when they do give me the go ahead, dammed right I'm buying a Spyder F3 as its reckoned to be the best there is.

Hey Beth just seen your video you riding the 2021 Spider RT I have the 2020 the same color that you're riding I am 5'4
and had the same problem so I made some changes #1 I put a backrest and if I was sitting where my back was against the backrest
I had to lean forward to reach the handle bars so i did some research and found a 3'inch riser at Lamonster Garage I also replays my handlebar
and went to the shorty bar this allowed me to set back againstt the back rest the handlebars ar adjustable up and down this still lift the brke pedal problem
Slingmod has a wider break paddle i ordered it and then i got me some flat washers there are three boats if memory serves me right i usrd 3 to 4
washers for esch boats and i had to use longer bosts just remember to use some Loctite after doing this this bike fits me like a glove i love it.
My intentions was to get mt the 900 Rally Edition took my wife with me she said fiat-out i will not get on it.

I was glad to hear the changes that were made to the latest Spyder RT. We have a 2010 Spyder RT that seems a bit cramped for two full figured people (hope that's the politically correct verbiage) so I bought myself a 2020 Ryker 900 ace. Now my wife rides the Spyder and I ride the Ryker. I like how the Ryker accommodates me at 6'4" or my wife at 5'4". She loves her Spyder but really likes the Ryker's transmission better. Well Beth, as for the brake, surely someone over that side of the pond could make an adjustable add-n brake pad that fits over the exiting one, if you were so inclined but then as I see it , the handlebars need to be tapered back so you in particular are sat more comfortably and therefore enjoying the ride longer. But as for me and my plans to buy a bike, I've been told until I get my eyes fixed (Operated on for Cataracts) then I am not advised to ride 3 wheels over 4.

One thing I noticed on the RT vs Ryker is that in the Ryker - I feel more one with the vehicle... it responds quickly and directly. The RT seems to respond to inputs - the machine is between you and the road. Sort of an indirect feeling of control. Though was VERY comfortable.
Fighter plane vs airliner perhaps 😜. Still love the Ryker. But for longer trips would love the RT
Btw... did you notice a big difference in noise while traveling on the RT? The Ryker I think is a bit noisier and I’m wondering if RT would be less road noise fatigue?

Truthfully all bikes are very loud. For example, adding the small windshield to a Ryker will reduce noise more than going from that Ryker to an RY with a big windshield. Earplugs and/or a well insulated helmet is where most of the noise reduction is at.

I dont think you'd have any problems with the Ryker so long as you get the upgraded suspension (Rally for instance). You also would likely want the extended solo seat, so be prepared to pay for it ($350 I think).
The Spyder and F3 should work well out of the box, but really you should at least sit on both (adjusting the handlebars and foot pedals forward when you do).
And I'd also recommend the 900 Ryker, but it would be plenty fast and onlyna touch slower than the F3.

Do you need a Cam-Am test if you already have a motorcycle endorsement on your license?

No. But to be certain, check with your local laws.

Some states may require a 3-wheel endorsement. Most do not.
