Just ordered my Sony Z-e1 today, next will be ordering the small rig as well. Great video. Thanks
Hope you enjoy it!
Waiting on mine to ship out! Glad I found your video on it!
Hope you enjoy it!
Can't wait for mine to arrive, looks great
Sweet. Let me know how you find it
Thx Vic for the great video - I was waiting for that cage-review!
How is your experience with overheating (especially 4k 60)? Do you have problems and how does the cage have an influence on heat dissipation?
Bought a smallrig case for my ZV e10 recently. I am absolutely amazed and it is SO useful with its multiple threads and the integrated Swiss mounting plate 🤘🏻
Hey hey 👋 Yeah. They’re super useful. What have you mounted to it?
@@VicBarry since my lighting situation is REALLY bad even with a godox SL60, I added two lights from apature and some improvised cable management for 3 usbC cables and the cable for my Rode video mic. I prefer shotgun mics over lavalier 👍🏻
Awesome stuff. Why is the lighting situation really bad?
@@VicBarry mostly because I record in our dining room and natural light comes from an awkward angle so I have to shut everything for a more controlled lighting Szenario. And the table makes it difficult to place the godox at the optimal position. But it got WAY better with the godox which I bought two weeks ago. I use the small camera lights just for some background separation now. The godox handles the rest now and gets rid of the shadows behind me 😅
Now if they only provided a mini fan to bolt on so we can have unlimited shooting time 😅
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I 3D printed a mount for one, I'll put it on odysee later.
@@3darms gotta think someone would at some point. Sweet how do I find that? Never used odysee.
@@BuiltInception I have the same username there. The fan uses 3 40mm fans and a pwm controller. I'll upload it later today.
@@3darms I searched for your print but I could not find it. I'm curious about the way you implemented the mount
Nice!!!
Thanks for the visit
Awesome overview!
I was so hyped when they announced this cage. I ordered it in anticipation of picking up the ZV-E1 in a few weeks!
Do you know if you can still use a B1M with this cage on? Really hoping the hot shoe mount has enough clearance around it.
I would think so - I have the ECM-B10 and the W2BT and they both fit.
@@DaveKellermanns Thank you! Glad to hear that
Can i mount the 4257 cage without taking the lens off? i.e. Does the top beam comes off?
What kind of filter is on your lens?
I got one on the way to me directly to iraq
Thanks buddy for the advice ❤
No problem 👍 best of luck. Let me know how it works out.
@@VicBarry I will ❤️
@VicBarry also the 120p for zve1 has dropped just to let you know 😃
I wonder if it draws heat away into the metal helping the overheating
yeah mine arrived a few days ago, i got the grip version, camera feels like a beast now.. defeats the object of getting a smaller amera.. but i didnt get it because it was smaller! :)
Awesome stuff. What are you mounting to the ZV-E1 cage?
Hey vic, iv been a susbcriber of yours since the original zv1. iv just upgraded to zve1! i bought the rig cage as well. I noticed there are a few different versions of the handle on the side from same company nato etc.. what difference it does not explain very well on amazon.
I need this cage. Telephoto lenses are difficult with a tiny grip. I strapped on an LCD eye cup, and use the ZVE1 with Sigma 100-400 in 4K 120. I should get the A7S3, but this has animal eye detect in video.
how much heavier does it make the camera? i do vlogging a lot and im afraid it will make my arm get too tired
To be honest I haven’t noticed much of a difference. Check the weight with smallrig maybe but otherwise I think it’s fine.
I'm new to all this stuff, so was wondering if there might also be an attachment that could protect the usb port ? Like the hdmi one does? Would that be able to be fitted on it as well?
Hey 👋 not as far as I know to be honest
What about if you have small hands? Several video reviews have mentioned that the zv-e1 grip seems small and not good. It feels great in my small hands. I haven't watched the full video yet but I am going to. Maybe this will change.
Is this for the Sony a7iv and the fx3 as well as can it be used with the falcm quick release plate? If not do you have another solution
Hey. The cage is specific to the zv-e1. You can attach whatever plate you want to the bottom of the cage
@@VicBarry do you know if they make one for the other cameras I specified
Hello Vic and thanks to nice video. To cages has nato rail left side you don't need extra nato rail adapter.
Hey there - Not on this cage specifically. You do need that adapter!
@@VicBarry ok. Thanks
I want to change my a6500 for the ZV-E1, the main concern is about the heat.... Where I live, its constantly on 86ºF on day and 76ºF on night.... This camera its able to record 30mins+ of 4k30p on sun? And at least 15min of 4k60p? >.
Hey there. Recently spent a week with the camera where it was in this high 80s/90s
Shot everything from 4k 24 up to 4k 120 with zero problems.
Dear sir. Does Small Rig Cade can help heat dissipate of zve1 ?? I want to buy a zve1 but i am very worried about overheating. in my country temperature is in summer between 32-35 c and in winter 22-26 c .. Please response sir ..
I don’t think it does really. Not in my experience at least.
@@VicBarry thank u sir for your quick reply . Although did u face any type of overheating issue on that camera body..
only when streaming via usb
@@PulakChowdhury
@@VicBarry thank u sir.
Does the cage have any impact/improvement when it comes to heat dissipation? - it should in theory, as you're basically strapping a heatsync to the camera.
Hey 👋 not that I’ve noticed to be honest.
@@VicBarry Any chance of a test? :)
What are those red button things hanging off the camera
Для кистево ремня. Подсоединить ремень, типа PGYTECH Camera Wrist Strap
Was waiting for you to cover the hdmi thingy, that was one of the main reasons you said to get it but you didn't showcase it? lol
😀 it’s literally just a clamp that will squeeze on the hdmi cable and make it incredibly my difficult for it to move or get yanked out.
Haha i know, but i was wondering what happens with the door that opens that compartment, is it left in a vulnerable position, or is it shielded fully by the other part. What is the overhang etc...@@VicBarry
normally cages for sonys help with dissipating heat;)
Ha. Fingers crossed. Haven’t run it enough yet to find out
I thought they made the zv e1 to be portable and for serious youtube vloggers.....this just makes in another video production camera like an a7siii with bad heating
Hey. That’s an interesting point. To be honest I’d much prefer to have it and not use it, than need it and not have it.
What are you shooting with the ZV-E1 that’s causing overheating issues?
It’s look quite heavy set up.
No doubt when you mount a lot of gear it will get heavy but as for something like a mic etc it’s quite comfortable.
