My tip would be not to beat yourself up if you don't hit your previous reps. Neuromuscular adaptation fades quickly and is a huge part of lifting. You don't lose muscle until three weeks of no lifting (unless youre severely ill and bedbound) so chill out if you seem weaker after a week off. Even if you lose muscle, muscle grows back a lot quicker if you already built it previously so you'll be back to top form soon. To stop myself getting down about strength losses after a break, i only let myself use lighter weights so i can't compare how many reps i usually do

I feel like I’m starting back where I was when I first started. But I’m light years ahead of that. I know my way around the gym better, I know how. I know all the tricks of my past, things I would’ve done better when I “first started,” before . I’m looking forward to seeing where I get in the amount of time and how well I bounce back on track rather than when I was just starting from scratch.

I made a pull-up goal for myself and decided to do the old fashioned "Do 50 pull-ups no matter how many sets" workout. Then did the rest of my back and bicep exercises afterwards. My arms were at 90-120 degree angles for 4 days lol. I took nearly 15 painful seconds to outstretch my arms. It's been exactly one week and my biceps are still just a bit sore. Pretty funny. I'm an experienced lifter though, so while the soreness was more than expected, I am undeterred.

I just analysed the screen shot study that you ve provided. Participants in the texting condition had a significantly lower average treadmill speed compared to those in the control and music conditions, and their heart rate was also significantly lower than those in the music condition. Additionally, participants in the texting condition did not report liking the experience as much as those in the music condition. These findings suggest that texting while walking on a treadmill may not be an optimal way to exercise, as it may impair both physical and subjective performance.

I've got a few markers for Marfan's syndrome. I'm extremely double jointed but I can actually increase my muscle mass, albeit at a slower pace than average. Over the years I've had to hit the gym for a couple of months at a time just to keep my joints stable for a year or so. That's not an option now, as the condition does not really improve and if I don't keep going consistently my joints start suffering really soon after stopping.
So my motivation is completely health related. I've always hated hitting the gym as I find it excruciatingly boring, but strength training is the only thing my physicians actually encourage me to do. I've been hitting the gym at least 3 times a week for a year now and I'm stronger than ever; as a nice side effect my body looks way better now and I'm even starting to like, even enjoy, lifting weights. In order to deal with the boredom I listen to podcasts or political debates and listen to music when I do my 20 minutes of cardio per gym session.
I don't have a partner since most of the exercises I do are rehabilitation focused, but I do track everything. I track the reps and weight I do for each exercise and it helps me measure how much I can increase the weight and reps without risking an injury.

Depends, the time i could not do anything but sit in bed because i tried to do 150 pushups the day before? Not fun.
The day after feeling a little sore? Good indicator and makes me feel relaxed.

  • @physetermacrocephalus2209

You made a great video my man but unfortunately we should not be encouraging people to stop and think before they go to the gym. They just need to go. No hesitation even for learning about things like doms. Nations who's obesity rates are at 40% don't have time for learning. We are at emergency levels. People just need to do 4 scoops of pre workout and go. If people die oh well.

Yeah. I started working out again and when I walk around to see if an area is clear and a female is around there. The back of my mind I'm thinking she probably thought I was checking them out, but I'm just checking the area.

the gyms changed. now there's people filming themselves with you in the background and if you look then you are going to be seen on these videos when they zoom in to you inthe background.then all the girls wear pants that you can see the whole outline of their ass. so women are scared to go the gym now cos men just stare

Please take it slow everyone! Went back to the gym a few daya ago, after a pathetically long pause. I went too hard on hammer curls on the 2nd day....now I cant straighten out my arms. Baaad tennis elbow. So now I have to rest for a few days 😢
