- I always password protect my WordPress website while I’m developing it. It’s a good way to prevent unauthorized people to visit your site before it’s officially launched.

In this tutorial, I’ll use the free plugin Password Protected by @WPExpertsio that I have been using for several years, to password protect a WordPress website in just a couple of minutes.
I will also show how you can let logged in Administrators or all logged in users bypass the password protection. You can also choose to allow specific IP addresses, RSS Feeds and REST APIs to access your website while it’s password protected.
In the end, I will style the login screen design using the free plugin Custom Login Page Customizer - Login Designer.

Late to the party but thank you for this newbie-friendly tutorial. I need to implement password protection for Individual Menu items and their sub-menus 'the reason: each main menu item is for a different class at College and I want my students to only have access to their class material, not to other classes ' material. I am also fed up with others leeching off my work for read-made course for their own students). If anyone can point me in the direction of a solution (happy to buy a plugin if it does the job), I would be very grateful. Thanks a lot.
I'm glad you liked it! There are a few plugins that let's you password protect different pages and posts, for example this one: wordpress.org/plugins/password-protect-page/
You could also try a more extensive membership plugin like Ultimate Member. I've used the free versionen for a couple of membership sites and it works really good.
@@DiviMundo Sorry about the late reply. Thank you very much. I'll check them all out.
is it possible to make it so that you have to enter the code for a specific page?
I want to ensure that the person who took the course has to enter the code they received
Hi! Here’s my tutorial on how to password protect single pages and posts: czcams.com/video/m5dd7Dty8Ng/video.html
If you want to give each user a unique username and password with individual permissions, I would recommend the Ultimate Member plugin.
