- Today I am sewing a blouse and skirt using vintage linens I've thrifted over the years. I am going to use two 1950's patterns, one reproduction by Lady Marlowe (No. 719) and I used an authentic vintage 1950s sewing pattern Simplicity 2524.

My favourite parts of the blouse are definitely the cats and the flowers at the back. It's gorgeous
Your placement of individual pieces is perfect. As the whole project is!!💜🥳
Love it the sleeves are so pretty. Now I have my grandma linens and her hand embroidery. Some table cloth?? now I can make into a great skirt. Thank you for show me, a senio, to work outside the box. Your a gorgeous young person who is an encouragement all of us.
Thank you so much! I wish you luck on your sewing!
I FREAKING LOVE your labor schpiel!!! Never stop, & I'll never stop. Also, I really appreciate your content! ❤❤
Thank you!
I love how this skirt and top combo work and the embroidery details actually give it a really summery vibe ❤
Hi Haley Marie. I adore your skirt and blouse. They are amazing. Very elegant and cottage core at they same time.
Thank you!
Love this. Didn’t realize this was up cycling. I’m relatively a newbie with the term but I love the concept particularly as I am making ‘thrifting’ my new added happy place. Thanks for sharing your gift with us.
It’s gorgeous 🤍 and the location of your Reveal is perfect
I love this project so much! I want to upcycle linens for sure in the future. Such a great use of items that get thrown out.
Super cool! Loved watching you puzzle all that out. The kittens on the linens are my fave part!
What fun! I did something similar with a layered fairy skirt recently. It's hard cutting up those hand-embroidered pieces (especially since I was using some I had inherited) but I figure it's so much better for things to be used amd enjoyed rather than sit on a shelf.
Yes! So often all this amazing handworks is never seen anymore so it is great to make it into something that will be seen!
Wow, I love this. The blouse is my favorite. The sleeves are stunning. The placement of the linens is perfect. Great job!!
Wow I can't believe how long your hair is when it's not curled. I agree with you I think it does look cuter curled.
Even better than the first dress. Thank you for the inspiration.
I've been anxious to start my doily dress and now I'm getting very excited! These pieces are exquisite! I have a lot of lace table cloths I will be working into the dress. You feed my brains LOL. Thank you!
Yay! Thank you!
You certainly found some beautiful linens there. What a creative way to enjoy them!
The sleeves turned out amazing! I'm definitely going to need to make myself a blouse like this.
Your blouse and skirt came out so cute! I think it will be a lot of fun to use these separates in different outfits.
You did such a good job with the design placement - bravo!! In the reveal, you reminded me of an early 20th century doll with such precious and handmade clothing. It's such a pretty outfit!
Fascinating!! And I love your hair!
How clever! It’s fantastic and I love it
LOVE the sleeves and the cute umbrellas on the blouse and skirt! Think this one turned out even better than the dress! Appreciate the cost breakdown as always. It's very insightful
Thank you!
I felt so clever cutting up a cross stitch small linen shelf cover to use on the yoke of a top yesterday. Then I saw this video. Yeah...humbled!
I'm sure your piece is beautiful!
Gday Haley. Your skirt & top are exquisite 🤩So much work & attention to detail 😍You look amaziiiing 🤩Thanku 'sew' much for sharing 🪡✂🧵🙂
The whole outfit together is amazing.
Thank you!
You are so gifted! Gorgeous outfit. Amazing how you managed to make the patterns symmetrical . Happy that you made it lighter and more comfortable to wear than your previous dress. Ah, and I had to take a screenshot of the top pattern with the cats for inspiration - I am learning to embroider and this is such a cute one! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
I have to say I did not not see your vision during the make, but it turned out beautiful. Great job.
I think you could write a beautifully photographed sew vintage book.
The embroidery on this is so adorable! Love these sort of collage dress projects ❤
It’s really surprising to me sometimes that people have a huge issue with paying garment workers a living wage. I sew my own clothes as well (would love to make videos but I’m an animator in Japan so that’s not really feasible lol). And sewing is not cheap. Good quality materials are expensive and the amount of time you have to put in to make a garment well costs so much. I agree that if we pay garment workers well, then it sets a precedent for everyone else to get paid well too
Thank you! And I think unfortunately there is sometimes a mentality of "because I suffer others should suffer" when it instead would be better to fight for no one to suffer.
wow, all of the experiences during the construction of the first project really made this project even better (if that is even possible!). here in massachusetts, we are DROWNING in cheap vintage linens. rags to riches!!! thank you! 🩷🎀🐈⬛
I'm going to be in Massachusetts next year and can't wait to go searching for linens!
So beautiful, amazing outcome! You look so proud!
Ooh I always love your vintage linen projects
Absolutely love this 👍
Well done 👍 Its sooo beautiful ❤
After watching your first linen dress i started hoarding some for my own & found this absolutely gorgeous woodland linen! I'm planning to make it my central motif somehow.
yay! that sounds so amazing!
Oooooh! I love this ❤ The top is absolutely fantastic! Wow
So cute!! I spy some of the pieces we picked up when I was in town ❤
Yes so many pieces I am glad we stumbled across!
It came out super cute!
Just beautiful..love from Australia 🇦🇺 😊
Beautiful
Love love love ❤❤❤ you have such a gorgeous smile ❤
It's beautiful x
STUNNING!
Thank you very much for the cost breakdown and the "labor schpiel". I think it really exemplifies why fast fashion is so untenable.
So lovely! I’m really inspired!
Thanks!
THANK YOU!
I love these videos
so beautiful!
wow! you did amazing!
you did great. it looks so cool
I love this as a way to give those linens new life. I can’t imagine they’re purchased very often.
Where are your pattern weights from?? I LOVE the corner pieces, I need a set.
I am inspired! I’m going to dig out my collection of house linens and one!
I wanna order some tags because I feel like I’ll be more careful in my skill level if I’m adding my label to the garment.
Your dress is INCREDIBLE!!!!
It’s so wonderful!!! And the sleeves are perfect!
Thank you!
'I love this! I have a very large collection of liens I've inherited.I'm torn between cutting them to make a wearable garment and keeping them pristine for "the future". My grandmothers and aunts put their hardwork into them - so is cutting them up a celebration? Or disrespectful? Your outfit is GORGEOUS - so I think I know where I'm leaning now... though I might start with thrifted linens! lol
Good idea to start with thrifted linens! But yeah now we rareyl have a reason to sue these pieces so we may as well wear them!
What about a cute pair of shorts out of handkerchiefs??
Brigitte Bardot dress!
20:58 what’s a separating zipper?
IT's like the sipper on coats where they fully come apart from each other
🌅❤🎽👸👍💐
✨🧵
A lot of this linen looks hand embroidered. So the cost of this outfit would be at least five time more exspensive if it was to be reproduced.
It's true! I think all of these linens are hand embroidered except for the wavy detail on the cats!
11:03 do you have a diagnosis? I’m just curious because I’ve been having a lot of pain and I like to gather information from as many sources as possible so that I can take that back to my doctor or look it up in scientific research papers. Sometimes my chronically ill friends of figured out things before the scientific community did.
It's just back spasms from poor posture and an injury in my teens
Beautiful
