I feel like a mix of gears 3 progression with end of life gears 4 gameplay would be pretty much spot on

As you mentioned in the video we need challenges/achievements that are more representative of skill as opposed to grinding. Like unlocking the Ivory skin in Gears 3. Having to take out 5 opponents as the leader in guardian in a single round was a measure of skill. You had to put your most important teammate at risk to try and get it.
Or perhaps TC gets more involved with the community like Bungie was in the Halo 3 days. Have something similar to "Bungie favorites" from Halo 3. TC could review gameplay clips from Multiplayer or Horde, fan made game modes, screenshots, etc. And if you made it into this hypothetical "TC Favorites" you'd unlock a special skin.
Another thing is TC could be more communicative with the player base. It didn't take long after launch for TC to abandon the forums and basically operate through Twitter. Then not much longer after that, they kind of went radio silent on twitter

Spot on. I still think TC went wrong early on by trying to do make their game appeal too much to too many different audiences. I think your approach would have had that nice middle ground which gives something for everyone. TC was trying to follow the trends too much rather than sticking to what makes Gears stand out from competitors. They got so wrapped up in that they missed on the basics, like ranking systems, a War Journal, and earnable content. Instead we got microtransactions, an unhealthy obsession with 'balancing', and lazy grindy achievements as their way of extending the life of the game. Gears 3 had a healthy player population for years after launch, Gears 5 was limping along just a couple of years after launch.

Gears 3 medal system should have stayed just saying

I find ranked Control matches pretty quickly. Even in 2023. And I find 4 other Horde team mates in search quickly as well. Hardcore Gears 1 and 2 players probably aren’t still playing Gears 5. But there’s still plenty of players.

I feel like those are the only ones playing. I was a hardcore Gears 2 and 4 player and I hate how Gears 5 ended. I returned to 4. But I do think thos who prefer the slower feel of the older games are on gears 5.

Main thing, stupid grindy achievements to the point of having having 5 or 6 seriously relatable achievements.
The chapter 2 of seriously 5.0 is fine.
100 million damage of versus only, that's absurd considering on average in a regular match you get around maybe 8k damage. I've been grinding in private match, thank goodness for that.
Then you got assists. Really 50k assists. Even the assists medal of seriously 3.0 is a cake walk compared to that. Absurd.
100k versus kills. Basically, the achievement from Gears of War 2 and that was any mode combined.
I'm a PvE player and can't stand PvP so pretty much all those grindy PvE achievements retro popped for me cause all I played was horde and escape.
Getting to level 20 isn't too bad but those boring classes are hard to get to level 20. Mastering horde maps isn't bad if you got randoms that know how to play. The escape is hard to master to barely anyone plays it now.
I'm a huge Gears fan but TC has completely ruined Gears with their BS.

Grinds that feel like grinds....it's just not fun.
It's clear that people were leaving, so they made some long-pole items that were intended to keep people playing. Sucks that they took such a lazy approach to it.

The dev who was responsible for those achievements and grindy tasks has left TC. So hopefully they don't exist for Gears6

I like Chaps' videos but these last two videos are weird takes. Games aren't meant to last forever; but Gears 5 lasted about 2 years, which is twice as long as its predecessors. If you play Halo Infinte, you really get a good understanding of just how much was done right on Gears 5 - despite both being a disaster at launch. Halo has good movement mechanics but is terribly boring to play and has nothing fun to offer (only a stale PvP). Whereas Gears was very fun and had tons to offer (PvE, progression) but was held back by bad movement mechanics for PvP

Waste of breath making any suggestions to them😒

  • @Gocet

Honestly they should just let Gears 5 die, it was a creative disaster that left a stain on the franchise. They need to utilize Unreal Engine 5 to make GoW2 UE and get back to the core of what made a Gears of War game feel authentic. From there, make better decisions when developing Gears 6 keeping in mind those 3 general player categories. Hoping the Coalition doesn't fail again.

Go play gow2 multiplayer and tell me you just want “better graphics”
They’d have to remake that entire disaster from the ground up. Idk why people have rose tinted glasses for gow2. It’s a giant dumpster fire and always has been.

    • @Gocet

@@bipolarexpress9827 I've been playing GoW2; you can find matches searching for Guardian pretty frequently and its 10x more fun to play than wannabe Fornite Gears 5. GoW2 definitely had it's issues but its a classic & deserves remaster that would provide a fix for those issues. Don't understand how you can disagree with that
