gotta love it when you see the car you are trying to ls swap on this list
Yea buddy!
Number 2!!!!!!!!! I have a 1984 Hurst Olds that I am in the process of LS swapping!
Nice! That’s awesome! What a great car to swap.
Most helpful video of me looking for what shell I wanna do this to thank u!!!!
I’m glad to hear!!!
A TOTALLY AWESOME VIDEO AND EDUCATION. THANKS FOR SHARING. I LEARNED SO MUCH.
Thank you! I’m glad I could help!
Great Videos , always fun. I’m making a California legal e36 M3 LS3 Swap…. Nothing but custom fabrication since you have to keep the stock exhaust manifolds and a CARB legal Air intake .
Whoa! That would be impressive to see!
@@LowBoostFilms Thanks, check out my youtube or insta and give me some feedback. I hope to get a 9" rim with 255's under this thing
First video watched, great content, subscribed!!
Thanks!!!
Chevy c10 square body! Did it myself watching and learning on YT lol. Most important thing is to be patient
That’s a great one, I wanted to just make it about cars I could make it completely different video about all of the gray trucks. That is great advice, you have to be patient
You know the thing is with ls swaps the engine is the least expensive when you compare all the other needed stuff like k members, trans cross members, wiring harness, gauges, building a rear end to handle the power, so much stuff I didn’t think of it until I got into it 😭
Yea, that goes with any big swap for sure
Number 5‼️ My favorite‼️🥰🥰
I feel you!
Thanks G eazy great video
Thanks!!!
Very informative video thanks man 😎👍🏾
No problem! Which one is your favorite?
@@LowBoostFilms any of those cars you featured.. the weirder the better.. any unusual car with Ls are cool 😎
I agree, I’d love a LS Delorean one day
@@LowBoostFilms i ever see one on the street I would love to film it and take photos of any delorean with LS v8 swap .. i went to delorean motorcars in Huntington Beach Ca. Not even a single delorean with an LS swap..
@@deliciouslifetv7362 yea I bet the purists hate it lol. I hate slow cars more haha
Love 3rd gen camaros, I am doing an ls swap on my 87 at the moment
Nice! That’s a great project!!
Did you finish it?
@@leroyjenkins6809 nope, I ended up buying a 1984 Camaro Berlinetta that I’m ls swapping instead. I had sold all of my ls swap stuff to go Sbc but then realized gel expensive it would be to build one compared to an ls. Now the 84 is torn down and getting prepared for the swap. First I have to finish the rust work but then I will be putting my 5.3 in the 84. I still have the 87 and intact I got another 87, both of which are going to be getting lsx motors down the line
The foxbody has full exhaust kits for ls swaps from holley along with full blown swap kits foxbody is the easiest in my opinion
i think summit makes the mounts for them too
Except your going to twist the shit out of the frame with that much power
@@fredluden2298 that’s what sub frame connectors, roll cage, and so on is for there’s ways to prevent that/ minimize it
New sub. Great stuff.
Thanks!!! New vids every Thursday!
Great idea having any of those five cars as first car options.
Indeed!
@@LowBoostFilms I totally believe you!
This was great. Subbed!
Since you have a C5 and an ls e36 which do you prefer? I was thinking I wanted an Ls1 swap e36 but also figured why not get the C5 already, it's light/wide, just doesn't look as nice as an e36.
They’re both set up so differently it’s hard to compare. But on the street I prefer the e36, it’s more comfortable, drives better and is much faster. On the track the C5 is just more capable than an e36. To me an LS swapped e36 is kind of the best of both worlds.
@@LowBoostFilms thanks for the comparison man!
Good stuff!!!!!!
Thanks!
Yesssss I'm doing the Gbody swap. Yesssss.
This is the way
What harness did u use for ur stock gauges to work ?
Wiring specialties, then switched to Terminator X and wired the dash with that
What about the G35/350z platform?? There’s a ton of support for those cars
Yea there is, more and more every year now.
I’m gonna throw this car in there since I did it and have so much support…. Genesis coupe, the hardest part about the swap was the wiring, everything else is super simple
That’s awesome. I wouldn’t think there’d be a lot of support on that car!
@@LowBoostFilms sikky, ISR and LOJ Conversions all make engine and trans mounts and oil pans, ISR and Sikky have headers for the swap, and LOJ has mounts for either a 6l80e/8l90e or 4l60e trans along with the typical T56, made my swap so easy
@@gunnermaison24 that’s awesome!
Interesting list and I can understand it based on where your point of view. But just wondering why there is no mention of the GM A Body?
They’re just getting so hard to find inexpensively anymore :/
This didn't make your list, but may be the most commonly swapped modern vehicle. Chevy S10 and GMC S15, Blazers, Jimmys, and Sonoma. A lot of small block Chevy and LS engines.
Yes I agree, I could make an even longer list of trucks. I may do that soon!
Obs chevy trucks, swap plates and a flex plate to converter spacer
For sure!
Going by what you said and the pictures/videos shown, did you mean the first and second gen camaros? 3rd gen is 82+
Omg someone caught that, I meant 1-3 gen actually, they’re all great swap candidates
I’m a Honda guy so I’m new to this, but when people say ls swap can it be any ls engine and will the kits work for any ls engine
Yes, there are a number of variants the LS engine falls under, and most transmission from that era can fit, or even from others makes with an adapter.
What year and model of E36 would you recommend?
I wanted a rust free manual obd1 coupe. I didn’t care what model. But now anything older than 25 years is exempt from emissions testing so it’s easier for swapped cars to pass.
After changing the original engine of your BMW E36 into an LS engine, did it made your car more reliable? Thank you in advance:)
I don’t think anything with 800hp is reliable lol. But it’s has been good. I didn’t do it for reliability haha.
engines that came in E36 are reliable
For the e36. It has to be the coupe only?
Not at all, any e36 including the z3 share the same engine bay
Im thinking of doing an Ls swap I found a 2004/2005/2006 bmw 3 series 325i would those work?
That would work they make a few swap kits for them as well.
240 is a piece of cake, the z32 is pretty much the same thing
Really? I thought the z32 was a pain with the oil pan and all the LOJ stuff you need for the shifter
A fabbed jegs oil pan and a g force Bellhousing adapter and it drops right in using the z32 transmission so no custom driveshaft or anything.
Good to know. I want a z32 LS swap some day. I tried to make the list with no custom fab at all. But that’s less work than I thought it was.
I have a 86 SS Monte Carlo
Yessss!
Would an e39 540 be a simple swap like the e36?
There are more swap parts available for an e36, but yes it’s pretty simple in the grand scheme of things.
Is there a particular year of the E-36 that's easier than others?
94-95 since they don’t have any emissions requirements. But that depends on the state you live in.
Ls swap the classic mustang too
Don’t tempt me I have an LS1 sitting right next to mine lol
What year is your BMW E36. 325is
1994
How about a swap with the e60 BMW's? 2008 535xi?
Would be strange with the Xi. It’s 4 wheel drive and would be hard to fit that in the car. If you just cut off the front axles and leave the stubs it would be doable for just rwd
Def can be done, awd makes it tricky for sure
Pontiac solstice saturn sky is by far the easiest swap. Bolts right in
Good point! Is basically a corvette!
So is the e36 any series 3 model?
Yes, from 1990-2000 they made them. Also, Z3 share the same front end
E36 sedan(4door) can we?
Of course you can!
G bodies yesssirrrr
G body or nobody right?
@@LowBoostFilms righttttt lol
Fun fact a little modifying of a m3 dash can fit in a fox body 🤝
Oh nice!
Would these guys have a kit for e90’s
CX racing makes an e90 kit
Hangman performance on CZcams has a series on e90s theirs runs a 9.2 1/4
yo bro sorry for the question but how much was your e36 in total?
I try to keep that number a secret, but depending on your skill level and how much time you have, you can do it yourself for $7500-$15,000 depending on the parts you get and how much power you want to make
@@LowBoostFilms got it thanks man
@@LowBoostFilms I’m guessing 13500
@@obs1888 maybe I’ll reveal the real number one day
is it easier to swap an e36 than an e46?
Both similarly easy. It’s easier to Turbo LS swap an e46 it’s a little bigger in the engine bay and has more room. But I turbo LS swapped my e36, so it can be done
I living not far from Germany, i know a lot of 80's 90's 2000's models, did you know guys the E36ti model it's a more compact and light weight model,
what about Opel models, i am not a Opel fan, but guys the Calibra had a big engine bay too the car is also wider than E36, Calibra have better stability in corners and it is also a amazing nice looking car to body customize like rocket bunny kits,
most Calibras are FF but the 2L 4cylinder turbo model existed with 4WD,
BMW have also a 4WD model the E30 325ix but also the E34 525ix, but i don' t know if LS is worth or easy to swap on a E30 but maybe in a E34,
if i coult build a project car, i would try to swap the Honda S2000 engine with turbo charger in a Opel Tigra as FR drive Fully racing style body kits with pop lights like Mazda FC models, because yes i think there are amazing old cars existing but some how people forgot them,
with todays racing tech and body kits a Calibra or Tigra could be a gorgeous race car with a real agressive look
The Tigra would be a pretty cool swap, I don’t think I can get one here in the states easily. They have e36TI models Here, I’m just not a fan of how they look
Wow the Datsun s30 is one of the easiest and cheapest ones out there. They fit like a glove and dirty dingo makes it super cheap to do
That’s why it was in the honorable mention, but they’re hard to find, and dirty dingo is just the engine kit not everything else.
@@LowBoostFilms that’s why you need a top 10. 🤷🏼♂️
I should have made a top 10, the honorable mention was 5 cars long haha
G body and B body cars are very similar. The difference is that they have 4 doors on the B body. Also Chevrolet Colorado, Isuzu I series, and GMC Canyon first gen is a good choice because GM made a factory 5.3 Colorado and Canyon from 2009-12
Yes very true I was trying to simplify it, I can make a completely different video on trucks I think I might!
Are their reasonable kits for the e39 530i?
Yes there are.
e36 rear end bouta fly out
Haha. Mine held up great, I’ve since upgraded it too.
My dream is to LS swap a 79-81 Camaro
For sure! You can also do an early 70s front end conversion as well
What about the e46?
Those are easy as well, they would be in the top 10
What year is that car
Which car?
How much you think an LS swap into a E36 would cost if you don't do it yourself?
A shop would probably charge between $15,000-$18,000 in labor alone to do it. My guess
South ga 2000-4500
What about e46?
Also very easy, I can easily make a list of the best bmws to LS swap too lol. Maybe I should
Crazy that a bmw is #1 when i would have thought the camaro or the cutty would have been the easiest
Yea, they already had v8s so they were late to the swap market. E36 was one of the first platforms to have full kits.
@@LowBoostFilms but a lot of the stuff you could just piece together from other gm cars from the junkyard
@@jacksonduval4995 absolutely, but that makes it incredibly difficult to source all of those parts instead of just buying a swap kit, all in one place
LS SWAP 101.
I'm in the middle of a 80 foxbody swap
Oh nice! Make sure to tell all your ford friends lmao
What kind of mpg you get in the e36 with LS?
Cruising on the highway I’m at low rpm, so around 23-25 mpg even with the turbo lol.
💪💪💪💪💪
Thanks!
2/3rd gen camaro, 240 sx
Fd or fc rx7
Chevrolet g body
Mustang foxbody
Porsche 944
Nissan 240z
I live in sri Lanka so im searching for a car that i can ls swap my dad gave me a budget of 5mil lkr if can do it go ahead he said so here i am
Well you came to the right place!
You forgot the E9x series 🥴🥴
You’re not wrong they are becoming easier and easier
@@LowBoostFilms try sure super easy. The guys from LSe9X have the engine mounts, trans mounts, accessory brackets, can bud adapters, and stickers all ready to go I did my 135i with a lm7 and stock 6 speed manual :) from an adapter from pcm 😬 and a Holley terminator
The fact that you didn't even mention the Firebird when talking about the Camaro (same frame different body) is insulting to the Firebird fan boys.
You’re right, I should have specified.
it's not a car but squarebody chevy is almost built to swap. get a whole donar vehicle and your almost set
Yea, I gotta do a truck episode
A gm with a blown ls engine...
Lol easy peezy
Who knew huh?
E36 of course my fav
@@LowBoostFilms So how about the jaguar xj8's like the one Karl Muth did? Ya know anything about how much of a pain in the arse that would be to Ls swap?🧐😁
@@jrvapor all custom probably
@@LowBoostFilms Ahh I see, so thats why it wasn't on the list huh😆, thanks for shedding some light on the subject chief.👍
Good luck finding any of these cars for a good price lol
Yea it’s getting harder and harder haha
I'm LS turbo swapping a Ford ranger what's a kit???😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
No kit for that, but check out @bigbirdranger On Instagram he has a similar set up!
bro imagine AN LS SWAPPED CORVETTE
Lol
LS swapping a C3 would be cool, looks and powa
do you have a instagram I can follow you at
Yea, @lowboostfilms
Lost some credibility right off the bat by saying "second and third gen Camaro.", then showing us a first gen.
I hate myself for that one because I meant to say first second and third, but somehow edited myself saying first out. I meant first second and third. But at this point I don’t want to re-upload another video
LS swap in a mustang 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'm guessing the Coyote swap engine is expensive for you pony boys to put that in a old school mustang leave our engines alone this for the Chevy ppl 😂😂😂
Lol, I think you have to significantly modify the strut towers to fit a coyote in a fox body. That’s prob why it’s not done a lot
@@LowBoostFilms 😂😂😂 they don't want them problems lol
