    Mine arrived on Saturday and they sound fantastic post break in. Their build quality is phenomenal.
    For those concerned about the required feet away from the wall - You can still play music with them near the wall and it sounds fine but not HiFi. One feature not talked enough about these speaker is how they're only 10" deep and 35 lbs. Mine are tucked neatly near the wall and I easily pull them out when I have a long listening session. I play music for my young daughters with them near the wall.
    I've been to a few audio shows and have had a few listening sessions in HiFi stores and per my untrained ear, my system now competes with the best of them.

Because of your recommendations I have purchased a pair of LRS+ with the VTF-2. I am driving it with a Nobsound tube amp, Mojo2 DAT and a LEAK CD transport. While I know there are great benefits to the open baffle design, there are three reasons they're not for me. I'm not a fan of the looks. I really like the cabinetry work in conventional design. Secondly, I don't have a space where I can have speakers several feet into the room. And lastly.....cats and dogs. Our pets and several feet of open wiring are just a disaster waiting to happen. But I might build a set out of curiosity.

    I presume Clay knows what he is doing, but those metal supports do not look adequate at all. I'm mostly worried about the attachment to the baffle. It just looks like the screws could be too easily stripped out.

    I wonder why most speaker designers choose closed box speakers. Seems like open baffle speakers are just as good and more open sounding.

      Because OBs need more space to come alive, and the bass isn't as punchy as sealed or ported box speakers.

    Crossing over to the tweeter at 1k on a 2nd order slope right in the middle of the human ear's most sensitive range is not a good idea. But this speaker design mandates inevitable compromise.

    Why would ANY respectable speaker designer design worse time alignment by putting the woofer on the back and the tweeter on the front of the baffle? Only the deaf need to answer that it does not matter. The PAP Trio10 Heil does NOT ignore time alignment!

    • @toddclarke1580
      @toddclarke1580 Před 25 dny +1

      Only the blind like you doesn’t see that it is an angled baffle design , which probably is to compensate the drivers time alignment. And the low tweeter crossover point is at 1k . A mid would set out further than the tweeter. Also mids are coming from the woofer at 1k , It probably was well considered with the crossover and slanted baffle .
