    You people are so f'ing silly... Everyone is going to MTL...
    Sway said last year that he never wanted to go through arbitration again. He has no intentions of leaving Boston. He's still in the city working out with his team mates. He's already reached out to Korpisalo and brainstormed a new victory celebration. He's not signing an offer sheet, especially not from the god damn Habs...

  • @kevinsargent6282
    @kevinsargent6282 Před 14 dny +7

    Would be fun to see the turmoil this would cause to the Bruins, but the odds of Hughes doing an offer sheet (to anyone) this year is extremely unlikely. They are building slow and steady, and for an offer sheet to actually succeed, it needs to be an overpayment. And of course the player has to actually agree and sign it. Monty & Primeau is fine for this year to see if they can repeat their decent performance last year, then re-evaluate after the season if the team is ready to take the next step (and also consider how Fowler and other G prospects are coming along…).

    I realize this is the time of year when coming up with content is a challenge but don't be ridiculous. Montreal is not giving up a 1st, 2nd and 3rd for a goalie, any goalie. Montembeault is a decent #1 and they have a pipeline of goalies coming up.

    if i was boston and they tried to offer sheet him for the 8+m or w/e i would let him walk and take the draft picks. Its possible swayman is a product of the burins system. Im a sabres fan and you can look at Ullmark and even Lehner as an example. Both were okay on the Sabres but then get to the bruins and the golden knights and become instant Vezina winners. There wasnt a gradual building and becoming the best. It was being traded and the next year / 2 years of winning a Vezina. If those goalies were so elite on their own they should have been able to steal some games for the Sabres but they didnt. They would steal maybe 1-2 out of the 50-60 games they played. When you play in front of a solid defensive team you become a great goalie. Bobrowski was the same way in FL. There was a reason his 10m contract looked awful until the last 2 years. He was a great goalie and went to a team that wasnt very good and became pedestrian until the Panthers started to play team defensive in front of him.

    Players and even coaches went from MTL to Boston and vice versa have been known to exchange staff, some very popular players even (my memory of this goes way back to enforcer with some scoring talent Chris Nilan playing in both teams and returning to MTL to finish his career). They even practically traded coaches once, MTL getting back Julien and Boston signing Thérien after Habs fired him for Julien, back in the early '10s. But I'm not sure Boston are willing to get rid of both of their 1A goalies, I'm not super familiar with Boston's prospects, they already have a pretty young team, if they were to do so, the guy that was now the backup for Swayman, I don't know who he is either he's a top prospect or they have a goalie in the AHL or a draft pick playing somewhere else they consider ready to bring in as their #1. I'd love it but it would kind of be a slap in the face of Monty, he won games all by himself so often and has been steadily increasing his incredible talent, when the defense becomes a bit older and solid defensively, which could be sometime next year or even next season's second half, Monty would have more chances to be amazing. He finished with a save % over .900 last season. But yeah, he could be in goals a little less, 35 games a season for Monty as 1B and with Swayman as 1A, a big part of the rebuild would already be done. As long as they keep enough money to sign either Barron or Xhekaj, I can tolerate losing one of em, but not both, Barron has excellent offensive talent, he has to improve his defensive skills though. Meanwhile it's kind of the opposite with Xhekaj, he has to do more of that "knuckleball" wrist shot from the centre of the blue line, when faceoff is won in the opponent's zone, it's how he scored most of his goals so far.

      During the Toronto series, commentators said that Jeremy originally wanted to join the Maple Leafs and was passed over - Boston picked him up.

      Usually Leaf fans do not become Habs. I don't see Boston trading or letting a top player go within their own division.

      A goalie is THE most important piece to a successful team yeah you can win with average goal tending but the teams that usually do win are carried in some games on the back of great goaltending. The goalie position is the only position that plays all 60 minutes meaning he has the most impact on a game. More than any defenseman playing 28-30 minutes a night. More than a top line player playing 20 plus.

MB most likely lost a few connections when he did that to Waddell. This is just a bad idea. Theyre going to finish the rebuild, let goalies like Primeau/Monty/Dobes/Fowler/Miller/Volokhin develop and trade the ones that were good(just not contention good). They "could" be a team that makes the playoffs this coming season but theyre still a bubble team. Hughes wont pull the trigger on a goalie unless its the final piece...no one knows how Demidov will develop. This is just a humorous theory

    Not worth it at all. It would cost a lottery first round pick at the very least. And Montembault was the 10th best goaltender in the goal saved category. I would hate an offer sheet to a goaltender. They're not that difficult to draft.

      VERY difficult to coach them to go next level most of them have many 10-15 games in the league. remember DiPietro that Vancouvers drafted? not islanders but the vanvouver one? he was supposed to be a stud. now nothing

      @ScottStenlund-x9mif swayman even accepts an offer sheet. If he chose to not file for arbitration that tells me he has no desire to go elsewhere.

    • @user-hf9pc8sh1z
      @user-hf9pc8sh1z Před 12 dny

      I hope you are kidding. Not worth the money, sure he is good but not offer sheet good. We have guys in the pipeline who should be pretty good. Overpaying for a goalie is a thing of the past in the NHL right now. We are not even good enough yet that it would make a meaningful difference and in two or three years who knows where he will be at… and we have prospects so our tending will also likely improve or be pretty darn stable.

  • @francisbrisebois5450
    @francisbrisebois5450 Před 14 dny +1

    Not realistic. If they decided not to have arbitration it’s because they already have a contract in mind or are close to one

    • @keithball6480
      @keithball6480 Před 14 dny

      Why would force Bruins to match?? Bruins HAVE to either match or deny a SIGNED offer sheet./ Trouble with offer sheets...The Habs are paying UFA money, and giving up picks always. Just sign a UFA.

  • @ohmyjlord
    @ohmyjlord Před 14 dny

    No chance this happens. I doubt Hughes would go with an offersheet at this point of the rebuild, and IF he did, it would probably to bring a forward in.

  • @davebank3218
    @davebank3218 Před 14 dny

    I'd never go that route... I'd rather package those picks plus a possible prospect and see IF Askarov is available... keeps the cap space and you get an elite goaltender that would grow with the young team

  • @JJ............................

    Highly unlikely any team will offer sheet Swayman. GM's don't like doing offer sheets and in the rare instances where you do see an offer sheet it gets matched most of the time.
