Hands-up if you're a Sony XM5 owner! How have these headphones fared for you?
If you have Air iPod’s max’s or Sony xm5 earbuds should i get over headphones or something else
I have glasses and the xm5 cushioning is just pure ass. My glasses are very thin, like the titanium kind, and the glasses leave dents in the xm5 cushion, the cushion is way too soft. And I have the black color, I heard the blue and white colors are much better at concealing fingerprints, the black just does not deserve to pass quality control. Unbelievable
I got some at Christmas in a sale. I like them for the noise cancelling on the commute. The titans look good but I've got a small head. They're huge. I'd look ridic.
Mine broke at the hinge after about 18 months of use.
Apparently it's a widespread issue. There are other claims about it all over Website and Sony's help forums. Some people's hinge's broke after only a few months.
Cushioning needs a more durable, washable material. No reason the company cannot make that happen...instead they choose to rip off consumers.
Sound canceling is great, and sound quality pretty good given the focus on noise cancellation. No regrets.
Headphone videos are what bought me to the channel, great work 😊
Ah, that's awesome to hear!
i enjoy your reviews....could you do a review for the SONY ULT WEAR?
i was looking forward to your headphones review!!!
Hi, great video! I am a happy user of a Beyerdynamic dt 770Pro 250 ohm which I love for how they sound. I use them as a music recording headphone, but I also enjoy listening to music from my smartphone or laptop! with them I am very interested in the flat response of the TiTum..do you think they are really that flat (even though you can costumize a little bit the sound through an eq)? Do you think that those plastics parts are going to last? It seems that their price on kickstarter is super referring to what they promise..
Hi Mark, so glad you did this video as I am considering getting the the Sony’s xm5’s, but what no more Beats Studio pro?! I am very Interested in why you are no longer using them? I recently purchased the Beats Studio pro but returned them. I really liked em in some ways, but there were a few cons -mainly the price when bought from Apple, as I didn’t think they were worth it, but I did love the sound. I also missed multipoint connection. Would love to hear your reasons for ditching them😂.
Still use my XM3’s and be wanting to upgrade for a while to the 5’s but after your review of the TiTum’s, I think I might wait for those
Followed you for a long time Mark. I have the XM5’s and they do a great job for me. Use them exclusively in the house, and really enjoy them. AirPods 2 for out and about. Perfect pairing.
I’m confused now. Just bought the Px7 S2e. My only goal is to get the best sound quality possible. Would you consider the Titum better? Only in terms of sound quality.. thanks ! 🙌
Which one would you pick between all of three just on average? Titum, xm4 or xm5? Looking for the best balance between sound and NC
Loved that intro.... literally laughed out loud.....
Thanks Mark
I actually have an old pair of the Sony XM3 that I've been thinking of "updating " but based on your review, it doesn't sound like I should get the XM5. I did recently buy the Bose QC Ultras though. (Any other advice?) I also "backed" the Titum Kickstarter so those will hopefully be on the way soon.
The Bose are a great shout 👍
@@MarkEllisReviews thanks Mark, appreciate it !
I thought the Bose Quietcomfort Ultra had the best noise canceling! 10:58
I own the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Over-Ear Wireless Headphones, and they have awesome anc. However, I can't compare as I haven't used the others.
Hey Mark you was really fair, but don't sail too much on that case. Until now I never needed the case, I use a soft bag for transporting it and its done. At home they are mostly on my ears or hanging around somewhere. I am a DJ and I have also my Phonon SMB-02s (with a cable) for the flat sound-profile and separation for downmixes or to prelisten tracks with an IFI DAC. I bought the Sonys to listen to electronic music, rap and rock and not to be disturbed by noises around me and limited with a cable. I was surprised how good they sound in all frequencies with a proper EQ. I love to wear them long times without a cable, to watch music concerts/music sets without a break. The battery life is absolut stunning and time to recharge them is also great. The design is really cool&modern, they are super lightweight and the Noise Canceling is really industry leading. I am a very happy Sony 1000XM5 user. ;)
But what about the actual noise cancelling performance of the Titums? I guess I need to wait for the full review huh? Well this was my first time seeing you and I’m definitely subbing. Thanks
Welcome onboard! And the full TiTum review is linked at the end of this video 👍
Why should I touch the Sonys and the WH-1000XM5, when I can also get the Bose QuiteComfort, QuiteComfort Ultras, Sennheiser Momentum 4 or the legendary Nuraphones?
Exactly. I think k Sony. Has had there 15 min of fame! Once early need to be replaced you to crap third party one. Bose and Sony continue to sell replacement ear pads, even after the model has been discontinued
Especially the Momentums. I have had several sets of headphones in this price point and the M4s are no question the best sounding.
@anger7556
I prefer the Bose QuiteComfort Ultra over the Momentum 4 anytime, in every aspects. Including sound quality.
I have the XM5 headphones and love them, but sadly my go to pair is my AirPod Pro 2, due to convenience, Apple echo system and portability. But, you do need a pitchfork to carry the huge case for the XM5.
Just got a pair of Sony XM5 for 150 pounds through my telecommunications company (Denmark), couldnt resist:) No problems so far, super happy
Nice looking chair
I feel like LDAC is wasted on these headphones. I wish Sony would release a higher end bluetooth headphone that can actually make use of the LDAC codec
Ive got bathys and h95s. Im covered with high end audio lol
Weird flex but congrats I guess
I got a pair around the holidays for around $220, and I've been pretty happy when I eq-ed them. I wouldn't pay full price for them but I'm happier with them than the Bose 700s they replaced. Are they as good as my Sennheisers or AiAiAi TMA2s? No. But as sensory aids for autism that play music, they're pretty good.
Are your criticisms of the xm5s really that controversial? When they came out it would have been a hard search to find a review that didn't basically conclude that they were worse than the xm4s unless your priorities were the improved noise cancelling or the weight reduction.
Judging by some of the comment I receive… yep.
Got burnt by the Drop Panda headphones so I'm going to wait until the TiTum's have actually been released before I take a serious look at them.
Buy the XM4s!
Methinks the XM6’s are on the horizon.
Can´t be long till we have the XM6 released, no? I think I'm going to hold my fire on replacing my dear old XM3
yeah, wait a minute
The sony xm5 noise cancelling arent working how they used to at all
"Nice and sturdy, but the size of my car."
Underrated comment! 🤣🤣🤣
I love a good rant on Sunday before church! HaHaHa! Thanks Mark!
BUYERS BEWARE: My XM5's broke at the hinge after about 18 months of use. All I did was pick them up and they snapped.
Apparently this appears to be a widespread issue, others are clamming they barely lasted a few months before they broke. There are claims about it all over reddit. The website Headphonesty even did a story on this.
What's worse is that Sony has been completely unreliable with service. Mine fell out of warranty, but for those that didn't: Sony's warranty doesn't cover physical damage. And the only way to fix it is to replace the headband and that can cost just as much as getting a new pair.
Also there are more and more reports of XM5s breaking at the hinges. Sure, lots of people bought and are using them but Sony has had issues with durability before. A very risky buy. Also they haven't really dropped in price and the XM6 can't be far away.
I think the Beats Studio pro sound better than the xm5
The XM5 suck, they get bested by Momentum 4s and even the final audio UX3000 sound better at less than half the price. Their soft-touch-surface makes them up for early disposal as well...
Bought the XM4's. A few months later I bought the Airpods Max. Subtle but very noticeable improvement in sound and very noticeable improvement in NC. Still have and use the Airpods. Build quality is much better than the XM4s and 5s. Also checked out the Bose top of the line. Nothing quite beats the Airpods. For me the case is a non issue. As you just demonstrated, the other brands have a large case as well. I simply keep my Airpods Max in a similar sized case to those and get on with it. I did like the way the XM4s folded up but obviously there must be a reason that form factor was discontinued. One last thing, phone calls on the Airpods Max were head shoulders above anything else I have tried in terms of call sound quality.
At first I think that the Xm5 are not very good compared to the older XMs. And I guess that the TiTum won´t survive more than a few years. Who needs lossless stuff today? Some nerds. Which I was before Bluetooth changed my way of hearing music completely..some HiFi heads might prefer the real thing and not a one for all solution. I will stay with my MX3s, they beat those 5s evrytime.. and my 3000 Euro Canton speakers, too
No because I already own Sony XM5. The best Noise Canceling headphones on the market. No competition here. That case isn't a problem because I never used it. Not even once.
HERE WE GO 🍿
Nope.
Why should I touch the Sonys and the WH-1000XM5, when I can also get the Bose QuiteComfort, QuiteComfort Ultras, (Sennheiser Momentum 4) or the legendary Nuraphones?
@@attilab.2818 no one says you have to, mate.
@MarkEllisReviews
Is there any chance you could review the Nuraphones after several years of their release and tell your opinion how they perform nowadays? I have a small collection of headphones, including the Bose QuiteComfort and QuiteComfort Ultra series, NC 700s, Sony WH series, Sennheiser Momentum series and Beats Solo Pro/Studio Pro and nothing beats the Nuraphones. (Not even the Beats, LOL)
Even now when Nura has been acquired by Denon and the original Nura products are no longer on the market (apart from some new old stock), they're still brilliant, unique and very sad to see how they slowly disappear/merge into Denon's lineup.
