Tina has been a star in Australia since she was a child.
She thought saying "Tina Arena" was fun... little does she know some of us remember "Tiny Tina Arena"!
You're right Paul she was on Young talent time when she was only 8 years old
@@jonsant7232 yeah
she's been irrelevant for 20 years tho lol
@@seanb2009 bit harsh
Tina is one of our national treasures. She’s done everything, even AC/DC covers.🇦🇺
And she's been a spectacular vocalist since she was 10.
Abso-frickin-lutely!
czcams.com/video/Hxxbia1VMFs/video.html
I’ll never forget her singing our anthem for Cadel Evans when he won the Tour de France.
And she did Whistle Down The Wind
She's very restrained and controlled in this, if she let's go and gets into it she has an amazing amount of power and clarity for such a small lady, such a beautiful voice she has.
Couldn't agree more. She has a BELT of a voice.
Tina did play Eva Peron in an Australian production of Evita a few years back. She's a total professional having started her singing career at the age of nine on an Australian kids variety show. She's admired internationally, even by Celine Dion.
I attended opening night in the front row in Melbourne. An absolutely sublime production of Evita and Tina was extraordinary in her role.
Just sublime .....Thanks so much for checking out our Tina Arena....That photo of her behind you was taken a few years back when she was inducted into The Hall of Fame here in Australia. The speech she gave was amazing as she let gave it to them (the powers that be) asking why do they think it's ok to ignore women once they turn forty (💓) Then she did an amazing performance of one of 'Chains' joined by The Veronica's and Jessica Mauboy who are Aussie too. They did a knock out performance and Tina was looking so WOW. Please, please check it out for us Aussie fans of yours.
100% agree. Awesome performance.
Tina is an ICON.
She can sing pretty much any genre and make it incredible.
So happy the rest of the world is FINALLY discovering the magnificence of my two favourite singers in Tina Arena and John Farnham (who you have reviewed previously). Whilst we have many fine singers in Australia, these two in particular are just unique talents and their ability and technique is just on another level. Tina is also a great interpreter of songs and (as well as recording her own material) has released many covers. Her cover of Alice Cooper’s “Only Women Bleed” is just one example of a very long list. Like John Farnham, she is even better in a live concert performance.
I hadn't seen this performance before. Tina Arena sings this just beautifully, giving the song the emotion it needs.
Absolutely spectacular and also extremely restrained for Tina. She has a belt that could have also done very different things with this performance. Just adore how versatile her voice is. Keep bringing out those Aussie Beth 😁
Tina is our little Aussie pocket-rocket. She's been singing in public since she was very young. She married a French man, has lived and worked in music in Europe and the USA and is now back in Australia. She has many credits for her musical career.
Tina was a much loved cutie on Australia's Young Talent Time, with a powerful voice. It's a pleasure to see how she has perfected her amazing talent and to appreciative audiences. This performance gave me goose bumps. Bravo Tina.
Her album Don't Ask is my all time favourite female pop album
I could not agree more!!! x
You should check out the live version of her song "Chains" at the ARIAs with The Veronicas and Jessica Mauboy!
czcams.com/video/nIAOJl4f5Ps/video.html I liked that as well, though I’m not a fan of Arena myself
@@kathyconway5327 Thank you. I hadn't seen this.
Tiny Tina rocks in any language! We love our Tina! Class personified! Her concerts are an emotional journey.
Tina Arena began her career on TV at a young age of 9 on an Australian show for young kids to teenagers called Young Talent Time. Tina was the longest-serving cast member between 1974 and 1983 and was known as 'Tiny' Tina Arena and was 16 when she finished. Kylie and Danni Minogue also started their careers on Young Talent Time. Tina moved to France to further her career, learnt the French language and began singing and recording in French. But she never forgot where she came from Australia, even though she has Italian heritage.
When Australian cyclist Cadel Evans won the Tour de France race, Tina hurried down to where the ceremony would take place, and instead of a recording of the Australian National Anthem being played, Tina sung the anthem live. She's made it into the ARIA Hall of Fame, sang 'The Flame’ at the Opening Ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and became the first Australian to be awarded the Knighthood of the French National Order Of Merit, for her contribution to French culture. Tina is a Australia treasure and great Ambasador not just for Australia but also for women. She's now one of Australia’s most successful singer-songwriters, selling more than 10 million records worldwide.
We are so lucky to have Tina with us in France. She is just amazing, talentuous and emotional…Love her so much… ❤ from 🇫🇷
In 2011, Arena became the first Australian to be awarded a knighthood of the French National Order of National Merit,
Tina has always been a favorite of mine. I think "Now I Can Dance" is right up there at the top of my list.
The thing better than hearing a big choir like that, is being in one. It's totally magic - goosebump material ❤❤❤
Of course she's singing with perfection. She's Tina Arena. If you hadn't heard of her before that's your problem. We are so very proud of her.
All Australians sing like Tina Arena, John Farnham & Jimmy Barnes, Beth, but we don't tell many people. You are now part of a select and trusted club. Welcome 🎉
Tina has long history in Australian Music. I think (I could be wrong) that she was with the Minogue Sisters on the Australian TV Show "Young Talent Time". "Chains" is her signature song, my favourite is "Sorrento Moon". Matt Corby does a duo with Tina and "Chains" somewhere on YT and covers it solo on Triple J's Like a version.
With an Italian heritage Tina is fluent in Italian and also in French. The Australian Version of "Who Do You Think You Are" is a great episode of her families Sicilian past. Season 3 Episode 3.
Kylie Minogue was not on ytt, Dani was.
You are not wrong, tina, danni and kylie all knew each other from young talent time. Now that would be a concert. Tina does 90 mins, then kylie does 90 mins and danni can be support act. Sadly she had a few hits but never reached the success of tina or kylie
@@kathleenmayhorne3183 you are incorrect
Been a Tina Arena fan for the best part of 50 years. She's a talent unmatched as far as I'm concerned. Have every single one of her cd's and still play them to this day. You must check them out!!!!!
She is an Australian icon since the 70s as a child Star we all love Tina
Tina Arena is one of the best singers I have ever listened to....Her music helped me through a real hard time in my life and I had the pleasure of telling her so at a signing after one of her concerts ....She has a truely amazing effortless voice .....As an Australian woman I was so glad I was able to grow up watching her on television and having her music in my life
I grew up watching her on YTT (Young Talent Time). Even as a small child she was outstanding. Pure class.
Love that you've discovered the magic of Tina Arena. Other songs by her that you could try are Baby It's You, Windmills of Your Mind, Both Sides Now, or The Look of Love.
Definitely Windmills of Your Mind but not the live version which is ruined by the crowd clapping along, all out of time.
I can't believe I didn't know about this lady back in the 1990's. I am in the U.S. I somehow missed her way back. I found her on CZcams just last week singing, "I'm in Chains" live. Amazing singer!
Tina Arena has Been singing since a small child with regular appearances on Young Talent Time with Johnny Young a Tv show here in Australia.
She has done musical theatre. I saw her play Sally Bowles in Cabaret. Love Tina!!
The first thing I heard Tina sing was Rockin Robin when she was 6 or 7. She had one of the most powerful voices I had ever heard. Throughout her career she has never disappointed. Brilliant performer.
I heard her this first time, after a visit, to an amusementpark, where someone performed her song "chains".. I spend the rest of the day trying to get this song (it was the time of, don't accidentally activate the browser on your cellphone, or you go to hell). I managed to find it, and listen to it, this time by herself and I'm in love with this song eversince!! ❤️🎶
TINA ARENA is the BEST👏👏👏Thank u,Beth, you're amazing too💙❤💙
I love watching others discover the Aussie talent we are so very lucky to of grown up with.
Your reaction, analysis and the fact you can hit the notes yourself is awesome for such a young lass.
Great work, subscribed!
Never heard Tina sing this before. We’re used to hearing her belt out songs. Beautiful, though! 👍❤️🇦🇺
Tina has a super powerful voice, you must listen to her Albums to find out.😊
I loved how they included a 2000-voice choir in this production… it captured the millions of souls in Argentina 🇦🇷
I lived in Australia for many years and remember Tina fondly. A great star 🤩.
She is restrained here. Please react to Tina Arena - Back In Black. Her voice has a life of its own! Too powerful!!
Awwww Yeah!!! That cover blew me away!!!! ❤😁 Back in Black!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Tina's a legend here. She's probably sung that for Aussie audiences hundreds of times. When we were younger we used to sing 'Don't cry for me Marge and Tina'
My goodness, Tina moves the earth beneath my feet! Magnificent!
Very surprised by her performance, I saw her live many years ago and know she can belt out a song like no-one else and yet she chose restraint and allowed the choir to shine. Bravo Tina. 🇦🇺👏🏼
Fabulous, Beth. Its not just about voice, its also about dramatic presence, and Tina is so utterly gorgeous and emotionally committed as her voice lifts above that enormous choir you are left in no doubts about her authenticity. I'm an Aussie about the same vintage as Tina and remember her as a precocious child star. She was always going to become one of our most beloved cultural icons.
She is a consummate performer. I've seen her twice live. She's amazing.
Have seen this lady in concert many times whilst in Australia
Gorgeous. Love her voice. BTW I went to the same school as her. She sang 'Somewhere' in our school production of West Side Story. It was sublime. I was in Year 7 and in the chorus, she was in year 12. We used to sneak into the back of the auditorium during her rehearsals and later during the live shows.
You could listen to basically _any_ song by my girl, Tina- & it would be flawless.
Her covers of Burn & Show Me Heaven are **stunning** - Not for Sale, Sorrento Moon, Chains & Heaven Help my Heart are my favourites of hers.
The power she *_can_* put into a note, when she hits... it'll knock you on your a---!
I'm seeing her in NYC in November
The girl you once knew - very applicable for her as she grew up singing in Oz as a child. Love the understated performance and her diction
I've seen Tina in concert. She is AMAZING. Beautiful lady with a beautiful voice. And with a great sense of humour too.
I'm aslo Australian and a fan of Tina Arena. But [elsewhere on youtube] check out her getting vocal coaching from Donna Summer as they rehearse 'Enough is Enough'. The sheer effortless power of Donna's voice.
Where can you see that mate

Loved chains and Sorrento moon and heaven help my heart , oh and wasn’t it good. 💜💜💜
I love Tina Arena.!! I love her voice and how she sings.!! This song suits her so well.. I love your analysis Beth.
WOW!!!
I have always loved her from the tiny tot she was when she joined the ‘Young Talent Time’ a children’s talent show on on tv here in Australia. I have a child about the same age and we used to watch that show together, nice memories.
She was such a cute child with this amazing voice and she has grown into a stunningly beautiful woman with such poise and grace
You should see her perform The Prayer live. I’ve seen her in concert about 6 times and also saw her in Evita at the Sydney Opera House. She’s amazing

Olá Beth. Boa tarde. A Tina, na minha opinião, cantou a segunda melhor versão da música "i want to know what love is" do grupo foreigner.
Hello could you reacts too All By Myself - Lucy Thomas she is from the uk and she amazing singer she was on voice kids uk
Not many Aussies know she can sing in French and Italian 👍🏼
This was no where near Tina's first time doing ALW. She played the Narrator for the Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar in the early 90's. I went 9 times. The whole cast were brilliant, but Tina was other worldly.
Tina's early days came out of Young Talent Time which is Australia's sort of Micky mouse club for the likes of Brittany and Justin etc.
czcams.com/video/tqPnBDxPi_w/video.html
In 2011, when living in Paris, she received 'the Knighthood of the Order of National Merit, awarded by Nicolas Sarkozy
Kylie Minogue got one from France too
Lovely interpretation by Tina. As you said, very natural.
Pure talent in everything she does.
If you want to hear another brilliant & powerfully emotional performance from Australia, try Kasey Chambers' cover of 'Loose Yourself' from Eminem. Superb.
I agree Kaseys performance is amazing!!!
Amazing choir background. Love it
She was amazing in the stage play at the Sydney Opera house
If you like this than you will absolutely love Tina singing her classic nineties song, Sorrento Moon, it honestly gives me shivers every time I play it and it is still a perfect song even today. Her voice is pitch perfect every single time
Tina is hands down the best female voice Australia has ever developed.
i can still remember my older brother had a massive crush on her! even i love her music and im 20 years younger than my brother
Id like to see singers today to try and sing like Tina, John and Jimmy live!
While my countrymen were listening and going crazy with Spice Girls then, I listened to Tina Arena.
I believe Chain is the song that introduced her voice to me. Heaven help my Heart and Unsung Hero are my favorites. But the one that gave me goosebumps all these years is The Flame which she sang at 2000 Sydney Olympic.
Love her voice to death.
She has done many musical theatres before, and she actually played Evita in Sydney couple of years ago
absolutely amazing ❤
Hi Beth. The very large group that accompanied the singer was very interesting and remarkable. The coordination between the members of the group was admirable. Your voice was beautiful in describing the singer.
your voice is very good.👍👍👏👏
I’ve had a crush on her ever since she was on Young Talent Time - Aussies around my age will understand 😊
Tina does not just posses one of the best voices you will ever hear......
She also has one of the most beautiful souls you could ever wish to meet.
🙏🇭🇲❤️
Amazing singer one of my absolute favourite performers ❤
Tina started out on a show called young talent time. The nation fell in love with a preteen Tina when she sang this song back then. In fact i dont think any Aussie can sing this song without calling it Tinas song.
She has a talent for conveying so much emotion through her voice.
Tina Arena... "Chains"... will blow you away.
Enjoyed this song, it must have been very powerful live. Nice analysis Beth, thanks.
Thanks for listening Jonathan!
Tina was on an Australian show called “Young Talent Time” since she was 8yrs old with Kylie Minogue. She sings in French, Italian & English. 🇦🇺🦘
In Australia and Europe, Tina Arena is considered a diva.
Musical theatre? Damn yes… she was the narrator in Joseph and the technicolor dream coat back in 1993. Amazing voice x
Tina started singing on a show called young talent time in Australia as a child. A few years ago the local radio station was pushing for our local Melbourne Arena to be called the Tina Arena Arena. That is how well known she is in Australia.
Love love Tina been watching her since she was a little girl ❤❤
Yes she is Australian of Italian heritage ( parents immigrated to Australia). Lived in France for many years, was married to a French citizen, performed Australian national anthem when Australian cyclist Cadel Evans won the Tour de France. She recently was featured on a program called “This is your life” . Which I actually watched via streaming and I can tell you, She real earthy, with a lot of swearing or as we would say “ she swore like a wharfie “. One story was a collaboration with an artist who had not heard of her but was recommended her, he asked her to sing this part , etc. Tina replied with I’ll give it a shot. Needless to say he was floored.
Tina also sang Whistle down the Wind for ALW on his live anniversary show...
Tina was my idol growing up. She still is. Thanks Tina
I love Tina's voice... pure, beautiful and sweet... she can sing the phone book ❤❤❤❤❤👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Tina Arena is an absolute class act! She is a beautiful human being.
Grew up listening to Tina here in Australia 😊
I saw Tina Arena star in Evita she was breath taking
If you love choral music, check out the Vocal Majority; a 100 voice acapella chorus based in Dallas, Texas. Their lush harmonies have won them many awards.
Tina has grown up in the music industry. She first came to Australian television screens in 1976 as a cast member of Young Talent Time hosted by Johnny Young, the show ran from 1971 to 1988 and Tina, know then as Tiny Tina Arena, was the longest serving cast member and most of Australia was sad to see here leave the show in 1983. Dani Minogue was also a cast member on Young Talent Time.
Beautifully performed and critiqued
Tina has an amazing voice that is more than is initially appreciated
Tina is amazing. Love her
I remember Tina's first appearance on Young Talent Time singing Money, Money, Money by Abba when she was 7 years old.
I love her performance of "Whistle Down the Wind" at Andrew Lloyd Webber's 50th birthday. I have watched it hundreds of times!
I saw her do the lead in Cabaret. She is certainly excellent in musical theatre
Love her tone!
She started on a show called young talent time .she has a beautiful voice but I don’t recall hearing sing at such a high pitch , she is loved xox
Tina has another video here on You Tube of this song that is quite remarkable and outstanding !
Beautiful
Muito bom !!! Sou fã da Tina !!! Please react to Tina Arena singing "lest trois cloches", "Comme toi"...
