    Asus has updated the warranty for their OLED gaming monitors to now include 2 years of panel burn-in coverage. This applies to the PG34WCDM, PG49WCD, PG27AQDM, PG48UQ, PG42UQ and upcoming models like the PG32UCDM.
    You'll see the change in the specification tab on Asus product page, so you can refer to that for warranty claims in the future

      2 year warranty for products is still pretty bad... there are companies that give 3 years warranty for "potential" burn-in (we all know that burn-in is the thing OLED has to deal with and burn-in will occur over time and the brightness will also lower over time)... After that, the monitor is a mess... Nobody will bother to install a new panel (but that would be the better option) and the thing ends up in the electronic waste dump...
      The step Asus has taken only shows that they definitely know the problem, but are too cowardly to give a decent warranty. And 2 years doesn't help anyone...
      "just buy new, we don't care about global resources"
      I used to like ASUS, but the last 3 years have only shown what a pile of sh** ASUS really is

    The warranty on my alienware monitor has lead to such a care free experience for me. Not that im trying to induce burn in or anything, in fact I use wallpaper engine and hide my icons and taskbar, but if I am doing productivity work for a few hours at a time im not worried about it. If I had a monitor without a burn in warranty it would certainly be something in the back of my mind while i was using the same application for productivity work for several hours. I do have a second IPS display on a dual monitor arm to go with my 34 inch ultrawide and anything really static I usually put over there but a lot of times I will run 3 applications across the 2 displays and switch between them.

    seems like a lot of people snagged one of the Alienware oled ultrawide displays in these comments. So did I, upgrading from a Dell IPS ultrawide that didnt go above 60hz.
    The curve on my old Dell was 3800r, which was actually perfect for productivity, but too little for gaming I found. The Alienware DWF is a lot closer to what I want from a gaming focused display, while also offering better colors, no IPS backlight glow, no washed out image in the corners, and also it doesn't cut away a few pixels on the side because of the bezel/polarizer like the recessed IPS pannel did. The OLED actually has a bunch of off pixels all around the sides for pixel shifting, and the lack of polarizer means the corners are crisp without anything getting hidden from certain angles.
    Overall QD-OLED really fits my needs perfectly as someone who mostly games with the blinds closed, in a country where the sun sets at 4pm half the year. Matte finishes do help a lot with fingerprints, glare and such, but I found it more distracting than anything while actually playing games.
    I'll most likely still use my IPS for productivity, but the QD-OLED will probably still see quite a few late night essays written on it. I'm pretty excited to see more competition in the OLED uw monitor space, since that's probably what allowed a bunch of people me included to get great deals on our monitors, but as someone who values color reproduction over absolute speed, QD-OLED still seems like the best bet for me right now. Not only does my computer not run most bames above 80fps, but 1000 nits peak brightness already strains my eyes after long gaming cessions. I really feel like instead of pursuing brightness and refresh rate, which LCD's are already kings at, OLED manufacturers should focus on improving their sub-pixel arrangement/text clarity as well as burn in, which are the main concerns of anyone I know who owns an OLED. If I wanted an eye searing 3000 nits 400hz pannel I'd buy an LCD ya know.

    • @wizardd
      @wizardd Před 6 měsíci

      higher brightness = better detail in hdr. contrast ratio carries oled, it really doesn't get bright enough. 1000 nits in a 3% window is fine but the fullscreen brightness kind of sucks a bit comparatively to miniled. it really does make a difference, as someone with kerataconus and bad light sensitivity i promise theres really not much of a difference in term of eye strain when you get used to it (at least for me.) it would be nice to see fullscreen window brightness 1.5x on qd oled, that would make me upgrade from my aw3423dwf

    8:10 this is the result of Windows Cleartype working under the assumption that you're using BGR subpixel structure for anything that isn't RGB. There are numerous ways to fix this system-wide. I personally use "Better ClearType Tuner" to switch text rendering back to RGB, which makes the colored outlines like 10x less noticeable, - imperceptible under normal conditions.

    There is no coating grain on any of the LG matte OLEDs. Optimum Tech even agrees.
    Something about OLED with matte just works. It's as slick as glossy even in dark room. I got LG C1 next to LG 27GR95QE-B.
    People just seem to say it has grain without actually demonstrating it.
    Add any slight light and the matte coating smashes QD-OLED and its the same in pure dark room so it's a clear winner. No wonder Sony doing it with their new TV's. (hopefully they do it as good as LG)

    • @TheBrandonAF
      @TheBrandonAF Před 7 měsíci +1

      Man I have to respectfully disagree. I have a 77 inch C3 and the 27 inch GR95QE. My 77 is ISF calibrated and I tested both in my dedicated theater room. This room is completely treated and built for home theater. Carpet, ceiling, walls, black and dark grey (entry is red though). It’s pitch black. The glossy OLED has more pop all around. It’s very easy to see the difference. I really wanted a WOLED glossy but looks like I’ll be trying QD OLED specifically for the glossy panel. If you don’t notice the difference that’s great. There is a difference to my eyes.
      Edit to clarify. To my eyes , the difference is the depth and pop of the image. There is that slightest bit of whatever you want to call it, smudge, oil, it’s hard to put into words but it’s just not as clear to my eyes.

    • @walker2006au
      @walker2006au Před 6 měsíci

      @TheBrandonAF i think you're just trying to find a difference after a few youtubers said there is one. Mine are right next to each other in same room, both with fortnite on and both pop well. The c3 gets much brighter, around 800 nits at 50% HDR window vs around 300 on the 27GR. I wonder if that is a factor in your comparison of depth/ pop and is your27" calibrated? Given its a theatre room I doubt you had the 27GR in there for long for in depth comparisons. Hopefully somebody does some proper testing side by side and does a video.
      Mine being a bit closer in brightness and closer in screen size makes it a little better comparison.
      QD OLED are great but their anti reflective coating ruins blacks if you have any light sources and they seem to have more burn in issues then WOLED (on their monitors anyway)

    While 34inch ultrawide monitors are CURVED, they are not an option to buy. 34inch doesn't need curve, it is stupid marketing and there is place in hell for man, who make this idea of "CURVE" monitor. For 39, 45, 49 curve is needed, maybe yes, but not for any less then 39 inch. There is 48 inch FLAT monitors (tv in past) on market and nobody complain about "oh my god, it is to big, it must be CURVED because our eyes and view field work that way! We must have equal distance between all parts of monitors and our eye!...".

And i waited OLED vesrion of it about 5-7 years so bad... and now, when at last, OLED monitors stared to produce, NOBODY, NOT EVEN SINGLE COMPANY, do not make FLAT version of it. I could understand a 800R with a 45" aimed towards PVE and racing titles. Idk about with a 34" that could be utilized for non gaming purposes with a more modest 1800R range curve. Id have to give the LG a second thought the alienware sells for 900$ vs the 1300$ asus, and thats priced with the 45" LG on deal now that the new one has come out. Higher refreshrate seems more viable for a future system/upgrade. By then I figure a 45" with a 16:9 4k that lines up with the bezel would be a nice setup vs a triple 16:9 setup. A 34" lines up perfectly with a 16:9 27" QHD if you get the proper bezel/designs. Just a 800R curve makes a duel setup still pretty "interesting" to incorporate. If anything it may be better esp with future GPUS and the ability to have a 4k monitor for work/productivity

  • @sjewkes1

    I hope we can see better burn-in protection for these products going forward. I'm still on the fence about an UW OLED, a 4k 32", or a higher refresh 1440p 27" to replace my current main monitor. The burn-in risk for daily use is just not worth it as it sits, as rtings found it occurred within just 700 hours.
    I also wish we'd get more mini-LED monitors that offer much of the same benefits as OLED but with superior text quality and no burn-in risk. I assume it's probably cost prohibitive in screens larger than 16" which is why we only started seeing them in laptops recently, but I'm hoping it gains some ground soon.

    A true fact nobody is mentioning about OLED: The OLED has way higher contrast even if the whole picture is full of colors. It doesn't have high contrast only when black is displayed on screen, even colours have amazing contrast and depth, not only black and white. Colors/greys/whites are way smoother than on LCD, you see more steps in the gradients between different shades of same colour.
    I can still see more contrast for example on Valorant even if all pixels are displaying colors. Trully shocking fact.

      @@GewelReal I did try OLED, it was nice, but the burn in issue always in the back of my mind, since I use my monitors for work and gaming. We will see with these new ones coming out, will have to try some of them.

      He only covered TV size monitors when they were the only option for OLED.

    Back light strobing should be done on every second pixel so the flickering is less damaging on mental our health.

    I was looking forward to this one but this video definitely swayed me on it. Maybe a 32in QD-OLED instead

    Funny how glossy panels are the thing now because of OLED. But they were making glossy monitor panels back in the mid 2000 and they always had a sharp look with colors popping out regardless of what type of panel it had, either VA, TN, IPS etc. I still have my HP 25 inch and an LG 21 inch, all glossy panels purchased back then and they still look great. Matted panels saturated the market and a glossy monitor was very rare to get later on, companies stop making them. Now they are making come back but only for OLED monitors/Tv's. Something tells me this is for a rea$on😉

    I'm excited to see more of this tech being developed because that means sometime down the line it'll be affordable enough for plebeians like me.

    Thank you, I have been eagerly awaiting your review of this monitor. I have been hoping it will be a replacement for my trusty asus pg348q (which has started to show some blue lines) but I dont like the look of that curve and the text quality, so the wait continues. Is an Aw3423dwf still worth it as an upgrade in 2024 or better to wait and see what else is to be launched this year? cheers

    Can your tools even reliable test for a response time as low as 0.03ms?

    10:34 "extended period of time" is a fairly loose term. Can you be more specific? from your experience of reviewing dozens of displays, what's your recommended maximum amount of time for static content on an OLED monitor without risking burn in?

    dam, always wanted an OLED, but the burn in is the deal breaker for me (especially at that price)

    Got a philips evnia 34 inch oled yesterday for 800 knowing next generation isn't that much of a bump, also 800r is really insane, I had a 1000R ultrawide monitor once however it was great for gaming it was less nicer for office work, 800r would be even worse

    Please review the koorui gn10. Its cheap and available, unlike most of the stuff showcased at CES

    One quality of life that could really turn up the quality of your videos is on screen notations, instead of spelling out the names of monitors, just put them on the screen
