    Am I understanding this correctly? CP becomes a limiting factor in PVP and since ATK has a higher multiplier, investing in DEF and HP will allow you to reach a higher level without going over the CP cap?

    • @Candyy248
      @Candyy248 Před 2 měsíci +2

      Well, it depends on the CP after all...
      There are some cases where hundos can get very close to the limit...
      Sylveon for example with 15/15/15 has 2499 CP, so with Sylveon it would not matter becuase you are just 1 CP away of the limit, which is nothing
      But for talonflame for example a 15/15/15 has 1480 CP while a 0/15/12 has 1498 CP and this makes a difference v:
      So in conclusion, if you are less than 10 or 12 CP away from the limit, no worries but usually on the 1500 CP league is where the low attack IVs start to matter slighty more becuase of the limit being lower comparing to the 2500 CP league

    Great video. I feel it will help people better understand why they might be getting overtaken in pvp. I must say however, using Azumarill as an example since its rank 1 is 0 15 15, I feel like it would be harder to find a 0 15 15 than it would a 15 15 15. I mean, I have about 20 or so various Hundos, I'm not sure that I've ever seen a 0 15 15, and if i have, i didnt pay much attention to it. Albeit most of my teams are for ultra and master, so I havnt necessarily been on the lookout.

    since attack stats increase the CP twice more than Def and Sta does hence to make sure highest stats in lowest CP (due to CP cap i.e 1500 or 2500) its best to have least or 0 attack IV, so a pokemon with 0 att will (for eg.) level 30 and still under 1500 cp but other mon of same species will reach above 1500cp at level 25 just cuz it got higher attack stat(same def and sta for both mons)

    So CP can be thought of as actual DBZ-ish powerlevel, because it takes stats into account, and strength of course counts the most. So, by selecting a pokemon with a low strength, you can get a higher actual *level* (more powered up) pokemon into each league's restrictions.

I’m sorry if I sound like an airhead but are you saying that a Pokémon with a lower attack and higher defense and HP is better then say a Pokémon with a higher attack and lower defense and HP? I’m still newer to the game. In the beginning I was just deleting all Pokémon that were the lowest CP. Now I have learned to appraise them before I transfer them. So I’m learning the ropes slowly but surely.
    What app would you suggest for getting their exact IV percentages? I don’t want to install something untrusted, so figured I’d ask you first. Thanks again!

      Hey no worries it's a confusing subject. But yes that is what I am saying *for pokemon used in PvP aka agaisnt other players* however note in master league/raids, where there is no cp limit to the pokemon you use, this rule doesn't apply and you want as close to perfect as you can for IV's!

    •  Před 3 lety +2

      @ Thank you so much for your response! Okay so here’s a question for ya.... I’ve been searching and trying to figure this out.... I now use Go Stadium IV rank checker because that’s the one you showcased in your video. (thank you btw). Do you suggest to just change to the pokegenie one? Is it better?
      Here’s my dilemma with the go stadium IV checker. I just started playing Pokémon Go in February of this year (2021). I enjoy the game a lot and I’m starting to understand it a lot more than I did in the beginning. When I first started playing I only kept high CP Pokémon. I then found out about 1, 2 & 3 star Pokémon.... I then would delete all the 0 & 1 star Pokémon and only keep high 2 star or 3 star Pokémon. I then found out that having less then perfect IV’s was actually a good thing for PVP. So have been occasionally playing PVP for about 5-6 weeks now. However, I’m not sure what to mark the shadow Pokémon that I get either from Grunts or from battling leaders. They also don’t have an option for Go Battle League Pokémon? At first I was listing them as raid/research but if the IV’s are low they say not found. I just don’t want to be wrong when inputting the information. What should you mark the Pokémon from GBL? And then what about the shadow Pokémon that are t legendary Pokémon? So sorry for such a long comment. Your help is greatly appreciated. 😇

    Thanks for the video! Very informative! Question: Does this apply to shadow Pokémons? For example: if a regular Muk has 0/15/15 iv is rank 1 for pvp. Does it mean a 0/15/15 shadow Muk is also rank 1.

    • @ann-kathrin2084
      @ann-kathrin2084 Před 2 lety +3

      Yes, the ranks are the same for shadow pokémon because they have the same base stats.

    My only criticism of this video is the weight IVs have in a match. Frequently a 100% IV pokemon will perform well in any league regardless of species. Having CMP is also a useful strategy, but I’m glad you kept this simple ;)

    Re Galvantula (and other Pokemon that max out near 2,500, e.g., Talonflame): While 15/15/15 is rank 1 at L50, this may not be the absolute best IV combo. In Galvantula's case, 13/15/15 maxes out at 2,500 at L51. It's a small difference (

    I am confused by something. I know there are floors if you got a Pokemon from an egg or best friend trade, but some of my Pokemon are ranked terribly then I update to put the floors then it is amazing 99 percent. Is it actually just as good as any other 99 percent or is it just in the top percent of egg Pokemon? For example, if I had a Pokemon that ranks 90 wild catch but 99 if you put that it was from an egg is that better than a wild catch 98?

  • @IDaydreamALittleTooMuch

    I’m so confused. Please help, if anyone can. Thanks in advance. If IV’s in PoGo are in ADDITION to their base stats, I can’t grasp how a 0/15/15 can possibly be “better” than a 15/15/15.
    It sounds like a handicap has been put in place? How can one reach higher CP, with a poor attack stat, which somehow then translates to a higher level and maximizing your Pokémon? It’s almost like saying, “hey, your attack stat is trash, here’s a few levels to help you out.” Uh... catch a better quality Pokémon and bring that to battle instead, yeah?

    Alright two point:
    1) At high level pvp is it better to look at the specific break points against specific common match-ups? I have seen this mentioned, and even thought the stat product might be lower it would perform better by way of just reaching an attack or barely surviving an attack.
    2) For heavy quick attackers, like a shadow granbull could we situationally do 15/0/0 to max out pure damage rather than trying to live until we get to a charge move - I'm not sure if this is relevant.

    • @DannyConcepts
      @DannyConcepts Před rokem

      Imagine CP Cap as a Jar
      HP and Def are Sand
      Atk are Pebbles
      The jar has max capacity (1500cp / 2600cp)
      The jar with sand is more filled than a jar filled with pebbles.
      Thus a pokemon with 1500 cap can pack more hp and def than if you mix in all 3 stats.

    One topic with adding to this then is PVP ranking based on both the stats here and movesets and why the rankings keep changing as Niantic adjusts and adds new movesets.
    Also, it would be interesting to see someone actually calculate what the PvP IV perfection actually means comparing a meta relevant Pokemon like say Lickitung at 100% vs say 90%, 80%, 50% etc.
    Sometimes we kill ourselves for perfect IVs when a delaying a switch for a second is the real issue more than a 100% vs 93% perfect 😂

    is it even worth battling at lower trainers levels with pokemon that arent "pvp stated"??
    for example i didnt know about the "pvp stats" and only kept 3 star pokemon, is it even worth it to do pvp for me? or should i just go find correct pokemon?
    or i guess a better question would be what ranking would you see as acceptable? like for example according to stadium gaming website my swampert is like 125th best rated, so in my mind its just not worth it

      You definitely don't need to have very good pvp iv to play pvp very good. IVs matter but there are a lot of other things that are more important (like species of pokémon, knowledge of attacks and type effectivity, tactics, experience, ...).
