These Viking games really need to start getting creative with their titles. It's always ''Sons this'', ''Odin this'', ''Valhalla that''. I want my next Viking game to be titled something like ''Hatchetmansson the Limb Chopper''. Or something.

How did "rogue-like" come to mean a game that is nothing like Rogue except for the mechanic where you die and have to restart when the vast majority of early video games, basically the entire arcade genre, worked like that?

Added this to my demo list from Next Fest. Glad we have similar tastes. I had the same feeling of needing to be totally engaged with Kingdom. It's good but you really have to allocate time so you can focus. It's frustrating but it does make you feel like an actual military officer who has to focus constantly. I wonder if they will add a horse upgrade so you can go faster around the map.
The lower right side of your screen shows an icon of what schemes you are doing. The abduct scheme you had for the learning guy was waiting on you to decide to abduct or not, when a more important event popped up. It was frozen for you to decide to abduct or to wait. If you would have checked the icon it would have let you complete the event.
The derivation of thursday is a little more complicated than that. Thor and thursday are heavily related but the jump from one to the other isn't so direct. Thursday derives from "Thunras dag", which means thunder god's day, but the transformation of thunras to thurs and thun to thor happened along different etymological lines. See also the german donnerstag, friesan tongersdei (etymologically closest to english), and danish torsdag It's like the relationship between bonobos and humans. We're heavily related but arent necessarily straight descendants of them And as you get closer to the modern era the term thursday was more used as a way to refer to jupiter than the idea of the thunder god
Thor Thunar Donar etc are all descended from the Proto-Germanic word for Thunder and are the same god. As for the Romans they like the Greeks had a habit of deciding that some god is the same as one of theirs based on characteristics. BTW The Romans though Thor/Thunar was both Jupiter and Heracles.

came to post that. I've been playing RTS since I can remember, but six year old me realized it was a really good idea to defend my archers with tanky units. Using Triarii to shield my archers in Rome Total War was a no-brainer
He also don't realize that since range attacks are easy to dodge with main character he can use it as archer bait to allow his archers to shoot towers in safely.
Hey I'm not sure you'll read this but it looks super similar to the game, "Until we die" witch is also pretty difficult it takes place in an apocalyptic Russia. I think you'd like it

You mentioned trying out other pixel art games and that one was an RPG with rebuilding your town and recruiting companions. Might be worth checking out! Cheers!
played this games demo the other day, took me about 3 hours but most of that time was spent farming and selling as much fish as i could produce to upgrade all my units to max level. Fish OP.
i definitly agree with AA that the player combat and the unit controll need to be improoved, it took me over an hour to find out how to stop archers from entering towers, the archery is very hard to predict, and units will react to commands diffrently depening on where you're standing, they will retreat forwards if you stand near the invisible edge of a conquered or neutral area. and attacking will make them charge endlessly which sucks without a long range universal retreat button.
Hey if u liked this and the kingdom u should defs check out ‘until we die’ basically same concept as this but set in metro apocalyptic Russia. Pretty cool imo
Huh, this game reminds me of more classic Flash games (god flash games are old enough to be classics) so it's sweat seeing this type of gameplay show up once again.
clone of another game i forget what it was called but you were a king riding around on a horse, i never got it but from what I remember that game flopped I aslo struggle to see how you keep complaining about them not shooting when they have no stamina left especially since you're streaming with a bunch of people to tell you why. Also you locked the tower and wondered why the archers did not wanna get back in.
Kingdom, Kingdom: New Lands(which was basically an upgraded version of Kingdom), and the sequel Kingdom: Two Crowns. AA actually did acknowledge and mention Kingdom in the video a few times. Kingdom: New Lands was one of my favorite games of all time until the final update for the game, which introduced some pretty severe bugs that the devs never patched because they were busy making the sequel. The sequel had a bunch of balance issues, from what I recall; I don't know if they ever got addressed. In my bitterness over the original game being shafted for the sequel, I refused to buy the sequel. I recently won a copy of the sequel in a giveaway, though, so maybe I should try it finally... But yeah, I couldn't help facepalming a little when the watchtowers have a 'locked' and an 'unlocked' state, which you see AA toggle, and then AA didn't seem to parse that this means he is determining whether or not his archers are allowed access to the watchtowers...
My man, you are pretty good at other games, but holy shit you built your economy so tall instead of just building 10 Shield guys to take the next zone. The Archers don't have enough ammo for a standup fight, that yellow bar was depleted every time you moaned about them not attacking. You could have taken the next zone easily if you had stacked melee first with just a few archers. You can't take territory with support assets alone. I've never played this game but that part seems obvious in the first 30 minutes.
Where did your other channel go? With the entertaining stories and content. I like your style but I don’t have the time to dedicate to these extremely long videos of late
It's in the description, the latest upload is just five days ago as well. I would guess they take a lot of time to edit down and condense with how many hours each challenge/game on it takes.
