I think that he can't be the best player on a championship team. He is a really gifted scorer and underrated facilitator, but his weak spots get exposed in the playoffs. Would be best as a second option alongside a top 10 player in order to compete for championships. Similar to jamal murray in terms of style of play, but jamal has jokic to be the first option. Mitchell really needs another great player in order to really win a title.

"Why would the Jazz trade away those players? Simply put, it wasn't working. The Jazz tried to build a team around Gobert and Mitchell. They tried a defensive lineup that ultimately couldn't score enough, they tried surrounding the core with shooting and scoring and it didn't work."
Another reason why he was traded last year would most likely be this:
