I was watching "Rainman" a few days ago for the third time - and of course, Dustin Hofmann is super - but what knocked me over, was the quietly increasing depth, sincerity and compassion in Tom Cruises character . A rather hardcore young man wants his part of the inheritance, meets his brother and gradually learns to understand him, care for him and actually love him ....all very discrete - and very real. A superficial actor couldn´t have done that. Kudos and respect to Tom Cruise.
That’s so funny I just watched Rainman for the first time last night and thought the same thing. The way he becomes protective over Raymond and wants the best for him was really heartwarming. Also, the bathtub scene 😭
yeah I though that, his performance got a bit under rated in that because Hoffmann did such a towering performance. I thought Cruise has pulled this off in a few other films as well, his emotive acting and depth can be great.
Yes, he is a genuinely excellent actor when the role is not just a superficial hero type. 'Rainman' is a very good example, as everyone has said, but also he was believably psychotic in 'Taps', and an interesting mix of desperate and desiring in 'The Outsiders' and 'All The Right Moves'. And, it seems, a really nice guy.
Tom comes across as a very soft spoken sincere and spiritual person, especially talking about his mother,I got the feeling he was a mummy's boy when he was young, great guy,no ego,no mancho postering ,just a genuine grateful guy.
Mr.Parkinson is the BEST interviewer that ever existed. He listens, make his interview partners look good and asks intelligent questions. And Mr. Cruise really seemed to appreciate it. I might not agree with Scientology, or any other religion for that matter, but it seems to help him to be the best human beeing he can or could be and therefore it is the right choice for him. Tom Cruise seemes to be a very nice person and he is on my peraonal short list of the people I would like to spend time with, be it work or just a dinner! Oh, and Mr. Conolly isn't too shabby either ☺️
Interesting interview. Why do people get so upset by his choice of religion? You don’t have to agree with him but undoubtedly he deserves respect and serves others beyond his acting career .
Because his religion exploits people with mental disorders and depression. Telling them they need help but only Scientology can help them and charge them $500 just to take the “test”. They’re scumbags
People want to believe their own ridiculous story of the sky daddy is better than everyone else's, when the truth is that all organized religion is based primarily on greed, psychological manipulation and exploitation. Personally I applaud Cruise for picking an unpopular, recently made up BS story to follow and giving zero fucks what anyone else thinks. Christians and Muslims are free to accept lies as facts, and so is Tom.

Beautiful ❤️ The Perfect Interview....not seen when first aired but really fantastic to hear Tom's perspective. Good Guy!🌹Always will be a Huge Fan xxxx Best Wishes for 2022 Mr. Cruise 💐🌻🥳🌻🌷
Well I may not agree with his religion , however I will defend his right to it. Never the less I DO agree with his stance on alternative ways to helping children with so call ADD, Dyslexia etc without pushing the drugs on developing minds all the time. Big pharma pulls the strings to get as many people on pills more than ever before.
Procare medical care itself requires lots of medications but you have to understand it's mostly because all of the doctors and everybody involved in medicine own stocks in all the medications! They say it's all about money will and that it certainly is for sure anybody home stocks and something is expecting to make a great income off of it and that's the bottom line it's not about healing people or caring if people are sick
It takes a while for Tom Cruise to relax into the interview. I admire him for his work, even though I don't agree with Scientology or man-made religions.
Every single religion has been thought up by man. If religion gives you comfort fair play practice away, but in reality it's all alot of rubbish though up to control the masses.
The 2000s was a weird time for interviews, but even here I don't see a problem with the way Tom handles the questions. And I don't have to agree with him to say this.
Yeah, imaginery! 😒 Really? Honestly I'd try to be more tolerant of this religious melarky if you didn't shove it down our throats all the time! Keep your relationship with your imaginary friend Jesus to yourself.
@@coolnamebro Also, i agree with you regarding adults, unless they are vulnerable then this is free will. But what about the kids? They get treated horrendously and know very little about anything else. If they leave they have nothing, no educational worth, no credit history, no money, probably no family or friends.
