  • Let's prime this old airless paint sprayer. These are the steps I take to get this old painter running after 7 years with no use. I also show how to fill it up with hydraulic fluid (see amzn.to/34KWAfI for hydraulic fluid - must be non foaming light fluid)
    Or if it's time for a new one, this one is great for DIY'ers: amzn.to/3zQ9C6U
    If you need a full rebuild kit, here is the info for the specific sprayer from this video. Be sure to check your own model number to ensure fit before ordering one of these kits: amzn.to/3K4KD4A

    Just this week my old pump stopped working. I had it quite a few years and did not want to replace it because it still works great. This was the only video I found which helped me fix the problem. I actually had air in the lines. So by reversing the intake tube and filling it with water and keeping my thumb on it the paint gun began working again. The funnel or turkey baster is not needed. Just pour the water directly into the tube. It's wide enough. Great video. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

      You're welcome! I'm glad this video helped you get your pump back up and running! Thanks so much for sharing your tip about pouring the water directly into the tube - that's a great hack and could be a real time-saver for others. Here's to many more successful painting projects! Best wishes!

    Excellent presentation. My brother (a guy with more money than time) gave me his old sprayer. He used it once to spray the interior of his home and shelved it. Now, I have a clue on how to run the darn thing. Thank you.

    My brother gave me the base model of this sprayer 10 years ago. It had lived under my work bench all that time. The legs were rusted and the blue plastic covering of the hose was brittle and flaking off but because of your instructions I decided to check out the old unit. I began with the fluid and to my surprise, it looked fresh out of the container. I exercised the chEck valve and the rest with good results. Long story short she was up to the task and I painted the bathroom in less than 15 minutes after the prep of course. Thanks to you.

    Koo koo 4 coco puffs. Try primin it before all that. If you have to do that all the time get a graco. When done with a sprayer keep some thinner in pump and line and release pressure when stored. Next time it shud not need primin. Just let it catch up. Been sprayin 4 years. I kno my shit.

    Thank you for posting this! I have the same sprayer and it works great with water but not very good with paint. I think I need to rebuild the pump. Do you have any tips for getting parts for such an old machine? (The previous owner gave it to me because of the pressure problem. I suspect it has dried paint inside...)

    • @clickapro
      @clickapro  Před 3 lety +4

      Hey! There are rebuilt kits out there like this which I totally plan on doing to mine: amzn.to/3GnwEEV
      But first I would try:
      #1 - thin your paint. Most of the time, you have to thin the paint to get it to work. Water-based paint takes water to thin, oil based takes paint thinner.
      #2 - pop on a new washer at the paint connection. It's the same as a garden hose. Here are some: amzn.to/3ma7Qbm Yes, it's a multi pack, but it's cheap and they are perfect for your garden hoses, washing machine hoses, etc. Great to have a pack of these on hand.
      Hope this helps!

      I disassembled the machine and saw that there was indeed dried paint in the pump. It took a while to clean, but I think I got it. Thank you for the link to the rebuild kit. I still may need it... ;-)

    I am reviving my old Campbell Hausfeld airless sprayer. This video was a big help. I have only used it once before I loaned it to someone and they said it didn't work for them.have been abale to get it primed and spaying water thanks to your video, but the water spray is just not what I expected. It seems that before when i used it water and paint spray differently and when i used paint the spray was fine. Has this been your experience? I also want to clean the gun in the gun where the spring is and I will have to disassemble the spring paint chamber in the gun itself. Have you ever done this? Will a gun from a different manufacturer work with this sprayer?

    • @clickapro
      @clickapro  Před 2 lety

      Yes, you can totally use a paint gun from another manufacturer. I think that water should spray ok through the gun. I havent tried to rebuild a spray gun before, please let us know how it goes if you do.

    • @clickapro
      @clickapro  Před 6 měsíci

      Hey, we have to push on ours with a finger to get it to unstick. If it's really stuck maybe with rust, maybe try spraying it with WD-40 and then wait about 15 min and try pushing on it again.
