Thanks for taking the time to post this. Super helpful to see it. I'm sure y'all already know, but there are pretty affordable aftermarket intake manifolds available for these engines. It would be a good idea if you want to maximize your investment on that big TB.
You should put a support between the IC and the pipe so it doesn’t crack also I think I’ve seen something about eBay TB leaking boost at the shaft seals
The rotation of the new tb was opposite. I really just couldn’t think of a better way than this. Routing of the cable would be awkward if going through the firewall to the pedal, and I couldn’t think of a good way to connect the cable to the pedal. Really just chose the path of least resistance to make it work.
You guys need to work on your cleaning ability. you'll never be a good welder until you can learn to make your metal clean. I suck at welding and I would have cut that stuff off and start it over. Get a wire brush and clean the piss out of it like a grinder with a wire brush no paint no brake cleaner only use acetone. if you have to hit it with a torch and get it really hot and then clean it again and again clean it clean it clean it. And then you'll be amazed at how well you can weld when in fact all it is... Is how well you can clean and prep. I'd love to race your z versus my 71 l28et.
I think this is great advice. I def need to work on being more patient. I have found time and time again that after grinding garbage welds down and trying again, especially when they’re still soaked with heat, it goes so much better. Like it should. I can recognize when the metal is dirty. I just never really know how to get it really clean

Breakcleaner is horrible for tig, only use acetone

Your intake manifold is the major restriction find a way to get rid of that and Port your exhaust ports
Why would swap the linkage instead of converting it??? The newer is going to be much smoother!
