_WWF WrestleMania 2000_ is definitely the second best N64 console pro wrestling game. Just wait until you get to play _WWF No Mercy_ , the sequel to it. Best pro wrestling game hands down -- you will *NOT* be disappointed.

The N64 era was from 1996 to 2001 - 7 years ... there are 5 Madden NFL games, 4 NFL Blitz games and 4 NFL Quarterback Club games.
7 years, 13 NFL titles.
I remember several months ago, Thab told us to join his Twitch streams because he's playing Banjo Kazooie. He's so far ahead that we STILL haven't seen that video 😂
With 224 more games to go with only one edited vid per week... that's like 4 more years till we see them all... that's insane.

WrestleMania 2000 is a classic and super underrated.
Look at those graphics. They actually added in Print Albert's shoulder hair.
That Madden Game did not want to lose.. From the very beginning till the very end.
4:43 it's an "assisted Powerbomb" Undertakers ropewalk is simply called "oldschool".
At this point though, I don't think it was even called Old School; that came about once he turned into the American Bad Ass. When this game was made, it was just called "walk on the rope".

6:50 I think I noticed this with another AKI wrestling game you played, but you have a tendency to pick the biggest, tallest dudes, who all have the slowest ring entrance speeds. I don't know if you've already played No Mercy by the time you recorded this, but if you do, and it asks you to choose a partner, consider choosing a smaller partner like Taka Michinoku, who jumps over the top rope into the ring and is faster than even the medium sized guys.

@@sketchylurker No but I wasn't sure if he still has one or two other AKI games still to play. Revenge and No Mercy are both very similar and have the exact same issues when it comes to tag team matches.

Kane has the "Over the Top" ring entry animation. Its the slowest one by a wide margin.

Thab slowly developing an appreciation for wrestling the further he gets in this challenge is great.
In the 3 way matches you had to switch to who you were targeting. To stop the computer from stealing your pin. You had to target the 1 who was pinning.
The Blue Meanie is awesome. He started in ECW and was leader of the BWO (Blue World Order).

Also, I could be wrong, but in order to just roll credits I don't think you need to beat those Battle Royales. It leads to a different ending I believe, but you still go all the way to Wrestlemania (WM2000) or Champion Carnival (VPW2)
Any other Wrestling fans bothered that going through the ropes or under the bottom rope counts as an elimination in the Royal Rumble and Battle Royale modes?
If memory serves me right, that was valid elimination strategies at the time. I seem to remember that the rule that through or under the ropes doesn't count had either not been established yet, or had been pretty recently established because Mr. McMahon used it to get a heel victory.
@@nidhoggstrike There's def a few cases of someone not going over the top and end up brawling to the back or something and never come back, but it's always been "over the top rope and to the floor" to be eliminated for all the Royal Rumbles

Man this brings back some memories. I moved out shortly after 2000 and was never able to afford cable so I couldn't watch pretty much any wrestling. My friends and I loved this game and the NWO game. Those were the days
Wrestling fan here. It's very amusing watching you play this game and not know much about wrestling. These games were my childhood, the AKI games stand above them all.
For a kid who loved wrasslin with unlimited time back when this came out, it changed my life. I still remember memorizing every move, unlocking every secret, ahhh. Watching someone play it and discovering it all this time later is surreal!
WrestleMania 2000 is still in my N64, this is one of my all-time favorite video games!

Regarding the Undertaker's taunt, the game can't really render it but in real life when he tilted his head back, he'd roll his eyes up so you could only see the whites of them. It went with his whole gimmick of being a literal undead monster.
... who later on would be huge into motorcycles, American flags, and Limp Bizkit.
Also, to answer your question: yes, Kane and Undertaker both used the tombstone as their finisher, as well as the choke slam. In-universe Kane was revealed as the Undertaker's brother, who had died in a fire the Undertaker created. (Yes, Kane was ALSO undead.) They were originally enemies, but would eventually team up. But Kane used a lot of Undertaker's moves as kind of like a form of psychological warfare at first, you know, beating him with his own moves sort of thing.
It's actually pretty funny that you chose the two of them as a tag team, seemingly without knowing their backstory.
Also, regarding the Japanese version featuring MMA: there was a lot more crossover in Japan in this time period between pro wrestling and MMA. Some of the top MMA fighters (including Sakuraba who that must have been in the orange trunks) also did pro wrestling. It's complicated because on one hand, sometimes they'd have pro wrestling i.e. fake matches that were "fought" like an MMA bout, BUT there'd also be shows that would include legit MMA fights alongside fake pro wrestling matches.

The key to keeping it more manageable is losing the title matches. Most of the unnecessary matches are title defenses for belts like the European championship which doesn’t impact the ability to beat the game.

Played a ton of Wrestlemania 2000 in the olden days. I remember you could fully edit all the real wrestlers and taking off Kane's mask basically turned his face into a piece of charcoal (since the storyline reason he wore the mask was because the Undertaker burned down his home as a child and he was all burnt up)
Hard mode in this game was HARD

It's funny watching you, a non wrestling fan, getting frustrated with these matches taking so long. I remember as a 13 year old having such a blast playing through this game. The matches were so long and difficult. No Mercy is even harder. Mick Foley was almost impossible to beat in that one.

What me and my friends did as kids for the tag matches, is beat them up outside until the ref counts to 9, then run back in. opponent gets counted out at 10 for a quick win. Also quite interesting you picked Johnny Ace of all people as your partner.
Holy shit the dude literally admitted it and I haven't heard ANYTHING about this on the news, it's insane that McMahon has never gotten any jail time, he's so obviously evil it's nuts.

Giving WM2000 a 5/10 for enjoyability when the score is based on the single player career mode is more than fair.
Those AKI games were made for 2-4 players, and for 1 player spending hours doing nothing but tinkering with a CAW

VPW2 has elements of both Revenge and Wrestlemania 2000 as it came in between.

Phew, I'm finally caught up after watching every video in the list so far. And I mean all of them!
Good news is No Mercy doesn’t force you to play nearly that many matches. It has story mode for each belt and there’s a handful of matches. But some of the set ups suck. I do believe the Royal Rumble is in the Heavyweight one and you have to do the whole thing if I remember correctly. Customizing is better in it for sure as well. Also some notes from the video:
-Kane and Undertaker are brothers in storyline. Hints why they have similar moves. Undertaker changes his gimmick in No Mercy so he has a new finisher, The Last Ride.
-Kane was slower getting into the ring due to the animation of stepping over the top rope versus going through the middle. All big wrestlers do this and it’s the same in No Mercy. Smaller equals faster and bigger equals slower for a lot of the stuff.
-Dude Love, Cactus Jack and Mankind are all the same guy, Mick Foley. It’s all his different gimmicks/personalities.
-That double team move in the triple threat was a power bomb but the other guy did an assist.

Respect for having the patience to go all the way through the rumble without save states. Never had the patience for that. Emulator with intermediate saves after each elimination makes it a lot more bearable :D
Also I'm not sure what needs to be won or can be lost in order for the road to be complete. I think if you're WWF champion after mania, you should be good either way 🤔

It’s recommended a person chains their moves based on the opponents relative health, just like in a real match. That way you avoid reversals. EG strikes, standard grapple moves, then strong grapples. In that order.
You can also throw the opponent repeatedly outside the ring and spam taunts inside the ring. Highly effective to get your special ready.

What's cool about Wrestlemania 2000 that was toned down in the sequel is that you can counter everything, even counters... you can get into endless counter chains
theres a lot of universal things with these aki wrestling games.
you can hold block and your character will get up crouching. letting you either punch or grab or press l to roll back
R is to block and you can also reverse with it by pressing it on an attack, kind of like a parry.
i think up c? flips the character , you can also do this on the corner to flip them for the tree of woo. theres so many nuances with these aki games that make them fun. these work on their newer games too. like def jam vendetta, and aew wrestling game

1) It may be controversial but I like WM2000 more than No Mercy. The customizable belts and Blue Meanie put it over the top for me.

I remember playing WrestleMania 2000 and i had to fight the Undertaker for the belt. Fukn hell he was invincible! Like 5 different attempts with matches lasting from 30mins - 1hr.
