He says wood isn’t a big puncher but as soon as wood caught him with his first big shot his legs went 🤷♂️
I've never liked Warrington he's always been a bitter boxer.
So happy for Wood what a comeback, absolutely fantastic.
Josh should know better, you never turn away from the ref after a knockdown you need to focus on him and follow his instructions. He only stopped it because josh were facing his corner the whole time
He has to show the referee he’s able to continue before the count of 10. He turned to face the referee at 8. He doesn’t need to follow ‘instructions’
@@jamesharper586a fighter doesn't need to follow a referee's instructions? 😂
@@collydub1987 Not what I said was it... He faced the ref in time before the count of 10 what instructions did he need to follow in that scenario?
@@collydub1987he was dazed and confused 😂
Watch the replay, about 20 secs after the stoppage the camera moves above the ring and Josh is still staggering, holding on to the rope. It would have been stupid and reckless to let him fight on.
He went to his corner on unsteady legs and turned his back.....Stoppage was spot on
He was badly hurt I understand losing is tough but when he retires he might reflect back and be thankful for that stoppage.
This man should be happy he goes home alive and well to his wife and kids, too may times we have seen tragedy in the ring, be humble and accept defeat like a man.
End of round or not he's experienced enough to know that you cannot turn your back away from the ref when he wants to look into your eyes. He was completely gone and needs to take some responsibility.
Robbed??!! 😂😂😂 behave, you were all over the shop!
You can't expect to get a rematch in a fight when you were not the champion and you got stopped. Just like you can't complain about the ref stopping it when during the entire count you don't even look at the ref.
100 fucking percent right here lad
Like whyte povetkin
I get what you're saying, but what is the point of the 10 count rule if the referee is going to call the fight off after a count of 8?
@@charliebartlett5768 The point is to give enough time for the fighters to show they can continue and are coherent enough to follow what the ref is saying or signaling them. For example, when Wilder dropped Fury, the ref instructed him to move in a specific direction to see if he was all there. The referee does not need to count to 10 if it's clear to him the fighter can't continue, and with Warrington not even looking at the ref there was no way for the ref to see if Warrington was not only willing to go on but able to.
@@adasga Just seems ridiculous to not give a fighter another 2 seconds when he has turned around to face the ref at the count of 8. For the sake of 2 seconds a fighters career and future prospects can be ruined.
Everyone knows how tough Josh is but the ref only has seconds to make these decisions, and he looked so badly hurt and dazed, and then turned away from the ref. I think the stoppage was fair, but still would love to see the rematch.
The round was finished. All the ref had to do is let him sit down. The stools were in the ring. 100 percent should of gave him the minute
@bradleyferrie93 there's no 100% here. Warrington faced away from the ref how many fights hace you you've seen where the fighter takes a Count facing away from the ref, he was essentially hiding. Even if he was OK It was rookie behaviour. His pride made him get up way before he was ready and he didn't allow the ref to look in to his eyes - he only has himself to blame here.
Yeah he was definitely hurt but personally an ex worl champion in a world title fight that did get up and did turn around at 8. I would of let him sit on the stall. Then would have had very close look at him when he came out for the 8th. It's always going to subjective
Whenever a fight is controversial it should justify the rematch. Warrington should of had the minute in the corner considering the bell had already went. Doubt Wood wants the rematch , but would be great to see.
I'm a Warrington fan BUT I think he made the right decision
This one hurts more than most for Josh. Mainly due to the fact he was dominating the fight and smiling at the end of each round because he couldn’t believe how easy he was making it look. Wood is a warrior and an expert at getting victory from the jaws of defeat. The issue is that if he goes up a weight, he won’t be able to do that to Cordina. In fact I think Cordina would stand him on his head.
On the fence on this one. To me it looked like he turned around at the count of 8 and he probably deserved that minute to recover. He wasn’t completely done.
Don’t need to be on the fence. Ref couldn’t wait to get Warrington the loss. He even started deducting points because Wood was so far behind.
On the fence because Warrington opened himself up to that result by not facing him earlier but i'm probably much more on your side of the fence having watched it back.@@peter4363
He was gone
are you mad did you see josh walk back to corner his legs was all over the place if it had gone on he would of got hurt if you was a true fan of josh you should be glad the ref saved him
His legs weren't under him because he got up too quickly. That's also not why the ref called the fight off. If Warrington turned round more quickly the ref would have let it continue. He also wasn't saved from anything it was the end of the round.@@SuperKnuckler
Sensible interviewer (proefssional competent, doesnt feel the need to make himself part of the story, take note : cassius and parsons) + honest interviewee = really good and insightful interview.
HARDLY SURPRISING IS IT
He's been one the best boxers around for long time always gives it he's all always in exciting fights win or loose this was another hope he gives it one more shot.
The trouble is.. Josh just can't accept that he's not good enough for the highest level! Against Lara we saw that he just isn't physically strong enough, so it was obvious that Wood would out muscle him. If Josh had more power, he'd have probably put a pretty flat looking Wood away last night. Regardless, Warrington put on a good show and has likely earned himself at least one more decent pay day.. if he wants it!
Love Josh but decent stoppage. Sometimes fighters need saving from their own bravery. But would love to see a rematch,I think these two will always serve up an amazing fight ,styles make fights and all that and would be a proper 50:50
Josh got dealt with , he didn’t turn round at 8 he didn’t know where he was , man said he got robbed 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He was aware enough to know the bell had gone and go to his corner
I'm with you on this one mate
BoxingGimp
@@dwaynesamuels2543 then had to sit down for 5 mins to regain his senses
I think he at least deserves a rematch.
I agree with his disappointment of the stoppage, it was premature and a mistake from the ref (these things happen). However, he should be showing a bit more respect to Leigh Wood. He landed a class combination and is a world class boxer. Took some balls to take some of Josh’s shots and still stand there to find that class knockdown. Clearly he is a big puncher, no doubt about it
Spot on the Brawler was done by a moment of sheer class .
Talk yourself out of a rematch often? You 'WAS' winning that fight.... You got caught by 4 or 5 clean punches and was done youth. You was definitely winning but.....
Top fighter win or lose I’ll watch I’m chip up m8 you have done it all great record
Don't be bitter mate. You fought like a warrior but unfortunately got caught. it was a good stoppage mate. no one wanted to see you getting damaged. Eddie will see you right in some big money fights.
To be honest I thought it was going to be a easy night for Lee but Warrington bossed the fight until he got caught,it was the correct decision to stop the fight
Keep going lad, give it one more crack. The amount of effort u put in to outclass leigh wood in those 7 rounds is the reason you were unsteady on your feet when you got up. Not because your punch resistance has gone like this lot on you tube r saying. You still have what it takes to win a belt josh
Nottingham Stadium already provisionally booked?
Sour grapes Josh
I agree, very unfair stoppage, he was standing, with a minute break ahead and having won every round...
I haven't got much complaints with the stoppage happy for a rematch tho
Warringtons had his chances in the past and not stepped up a few times, take the defeat and retire..its time.
The thing is warrington is to blame. He got up, turned his back on the ref, walked back to his own corner and didn’t turn and face the ref until 8. His job is to show the referee he’s ok to continue… he didn’t do that.
Woods face compared to Warrigtons told a different story. Give him the rematch, Wood the type of guy who plays a game and as soon as he gets the point he raises his hand and declares himself the winner.
If you dont do what the red says after you get knocked down that heavy the fight is always waved off. Normally the question is ‘step forward’ this time it was ‘turn around’ and he did t so fully legit stoppage.
What a fight best I’ve seen josh in years they need to run this back for sure but 1 thing josh should of taken a knee after he got hurt and not took the last 3 punches
He turned his back on the ref. Josh is as experienced as the referee so no point calling him out. It was your fault entirely, Josh.
It was the correct call Josh turned away from the ref which showed he wasn’t fully in control. He’s had a great career though and should be proud of himself
Class act as always head up josh 🔥🔥
Class?! Crying corruption and making excuses, how's that class?! 😂
Leigh Wood is the boss in any decision to rematch. Eddie doesn’t mind, Wood v Warrington rematch at The City Ground next May would be massive. I think Josh was out of it and not able to follow instructions, I don’t blame Josh for wanting a rematch but for once I’m supporting the ref.
What’s he on about got robbed he was all over the place when he got back to his feet had his back to the ref didn’t get up facing the ref with his hands up ready to go
Whatever anyone’s opinion, on this showing, Warrington comes again.. He was quite simply destroying Leigh. But, that’s Boxing.. Well done Leigh..
His career has been mess ever since he signed with Hearn
Great fight a rematch would be good for both fighters a minutes rest I think would have been the right thing the bell had gone he was in his corner I would have given him the benefit of the doubt, 🥊🥊
The ref should have given him the count and let him back to his corner , and at least given him 1 round to see where he was at , Josh was up in every round but 2 .
The most logical thing to do
The bell did not ring at 6. It rang while he was on the deck. Go watch it back. I think he can’t remember any of it tbh. Should’ve probably been given the minute, tbf
Warry was swinging for the lights whenever he had wood wobbled
He doesn't deserve a rematch. A real dirty fighter. After a stoppage like that no rematch is required.
You’re dreaming mate
AJ MSG v Andy Ruiz jr got a rematch after quitting .
@@Davidlouis3don't think so. That rematch wouldn't sell out a phone box after a stoppage like that.
@@peterkirk123in the contract.
Referee made the right decision josh looked badly dazed and his legs weren't under him ,add that to the fact he turned his back to him and leant on the ropes it was definitely the right call imo
I'm a neutral and totally agree, he got up and went to his corner, dazed or not I've never seen a fight stopped after a boxer gets up after the bell rang. And I've seen plenty of fights. Not only does he rob the boxer but the fans too! Who cares if he's facing the referee or not, he's up and got time to recover end off, he's not some school kid. Just feel like the referee with the one point off either had an agenda or wanted to steal the show.
Eddie loves a rematch
Listen. Take nothing away from Leigh Wood. The final combination of punches to put Warrington down were top draw but Josh was clearly winning the fight, so for the referee to stop the fight after the bell had gone leaves a sour taste for me. Josh deserved to go out on his shield like the true warrior he is.
The ref made a blunder not allowing Josh the minute to recuperate then have a look at him. Josh didn't deserve that ending after boxing so well and clearly being ahead. Leigh needs to ask himself how he would have felt if it happened to him. He wanted to fight on in the first Lara fight. Take nothing away from Leigh its the ref who fucked things up.
are you mad did you see josh walk back to corner his legs was all over the place if it had gone on he would of got hurt if you was a true fan of josh you should be glad the ref saved him
@@SuperKnuckler My point being the bell had apparently gone so Josh team could have sat him down and the ref could have assessed him after the minute recovery. That's what team Josh are saying. Shades of the Froch & Groves first fight. Its a World Championship fight give Josh every chance to recover.
he was like a bambi on ice walking back to that corner the ref saved his life@@leesunited3327
If you're 'good to go' then dont turn your back on the ref when he's counting you. You're giving him every reason to stop it
“Got robbed” it’s almost quitting going back to your corner back to the ref untill the 9 count. Didn’t have a clue where he was. 1 win in 5 now time to retire.
He was hurt but he also expressed how annoyed he was for getting caught as he was at the end of the round. Unsure on the stoppage tbh
Absolutely wounded
If josh gets the rematch then it proves to be a good stoppage. Live to fight another day bans another big payday
If you say that Leigh is not a big puncher as is made out I think it says more about your chin than anything . But you still put up a great performance .
How can he moan about the refereeing and promotional team? He got an absolute gift against Galahad, he got chinned by Lara and got a rematch, he got chinned off Lopez and got a world title shot. He’s been the beneficiary of some refereeing and promotional gifts over the years. Where was Galahad’s rematch?
If the ref didn’t stop the match, judging on the staggering and wobbling and not facing the ref…Warrington could be in the Sheffield hospital or worse. Bad loser not giving Leigh much credit. Life is more than boxing….time up wee man.
Warrington's best fight for ages. Keep going 💪
he needs to stop hes nowhere to go now
A referee with that much experience should have given Josh Warrington at least 60 seconds and checked him before the next round instead of counting him out at the count of eight and Josh Warrington 100% deserves every match he always gave his opponents rematch clauses
You got up too quick. Your ego got the better of you and it was right to be stopped for your own safety.
6 nil up on points he definitely deserved a minute to recover .
Josh ain’t done yet , it’s boxing o
he definitely deserves a rematch world belt fight agsin he proved hes still one of the best
Josh was winning that comfortably sad to see him lose if he dont get rematch its out of order
The were fighting for the WBA belt, therefore you cannot be saved by the bell. The ref make the right decision
Dont give up josh you are still world class. Anyone can get clipped.
When wood vacates try for anothe title shot. Or mpve up and get a massive payday for the rematch.
You have done so much for the sport and your city ❤
Isn’t world class and never has been. And I’m not even hating.
Naw there is no minute to recover unless u hold on. If not it’s 10 seconds not 60.
I think its fair to say Josh deserved the extra minute and the fight was called a little early , maybe if Josh hadn't turned and walked back to his corner the ref may have not called it off. I do though think that knowing Josh's good recovery ability and his dominance in the fight he deserved to see the next round
are you mad did you see josh walk back to corner his legs was all over the place if it had gone on he would of got hurt if you was a true fan of josh you should be glad the ref saved him
Warrington has earned the rematch. Wood has earned the fight to be at the city ground. Has to happen. No one wants too see Cordina v Wood. Myabe after this rematch..WOOD V WARRINGTON 2 at the City Ground Would be fucking mental
Get the rematch Josh!
Warrington was knocked out, end of, he should take it like a man !
Why did he not just stand in front of the ref then rather than stumbling all over the place. Ref could see that that’s why he called it off
Never got robbed, wobbled to corner on wobbly legs , held the ropes to stay up and turned when too late,it’s boxing, don’t take away woods clinical finish although you boxed out ya skin , still feel wood would have landed later on any way .
Do coaches ever teach their fighters what to do if they do get put down? I don't know if his corner told him to turn around but they should have and told him to compose himself!
There’s no agenda.
At the end of the day, unfortunately Warrington didn’t turn around and face the ref.
Hearn said Warrington was clearing his head but didn’t turn around. The ref was the issue, not a conspiracy
A rematch 😅
If Martinez and Lopez are bigger punchers than Wood, then why didn't they stop him or at least floor him...?
His best days are behind him, and he hasn't been the same since Lara.
Ref was right.
You don’t turn your back on the ref like that! Only himself to blame.
He’s a great fighter don’t give up
Should of stayed with frank
Why’s he throwing shots at the promoters? Considering Warrington was coming off a loss he should be bloody grateful of getting another title shot
As he’s an experienced pro he should know DO NOT turn your back on the ref when counting. How is he even kicking off at this. Dirty fighter, sore loser
Josh was winning but a knock out is a knock out.
I have posted on other sites about Josh, and this interview comfirms my fears for the lad.
He needs to get out now, before this kills him..
@@Fonzie-lo4sx
Not yet.
Warrington was not "robbed" he was badly hurt and did not have full control over his limbs and co-ordination. The stoppage was justified
I honestly don't get it, a professional boxer knows you can't stand back turned to the ref looking done during a count!
Not a Josh fan at all but he did well.
As for Wood not being a puncher, give over! Enough to make you see stars.
There is money in a rematch.
Nah he was gonna get hurt” ref did well!!! and he’d do the same to Warrington again.
Take your loss like a man. Wood is definitely a massive puncher. Look what he did to you! We saw the punch, we saw the stumble and we saw your face when you turned on eight. You fought well but got timed. It was no fluke.
Unfortunately that's one thing that Eddie and matchroom soon get couple losses they drop fighters and move on if and for someone like Warrington whos brought them lots money in past just think so disrespectfull and you look at the full picture Warrington won every round but the first and then got caught with one lucky punch was definitely better boxer in the ring for first half fight until lucky punch
Josh you was loved in England by all until you acted like an a bit of a mard ass tbh bro after Galahad. Galahad is boring as feck but he won and you know it. You should have took that win and shown respect instead of saying you won.said I will kick his ass again. He deserved that. Real supporters can see that was a snake move. After this interview you won me back over. I thought you won up till the knock out easy tbh. Best I seen you since frampton. You deserve a shout in America. Been great watching your career. Keep going you are at that level. No doubt about it, One bad move was Galahad. Chin up chest out. 🥊
He was out on his feet. Fair play he got back up but he took 5-6 clean shots
Im sure REmatchroom will make the rematch when if warrington wins his next 2 fights
Warrior. But I’m afraid that the ref needs to see your face as he’s giving the 8 count. Turned your back, left him no choice. He has your well-being in his hands. It was the right call
You were lucky to even get the title shot after losing the IBF to Lopez
Come on josh your a great fighter and in a rematch you could turn this around no bother but the ref stopped it so you fight another day 👊👍
Wood should take Warrington or Conan rematch for city ground fight
I Had Warrintgon Up, But Warrintgon Is One Dirty Fighter, If It’s Not The Headbutts It’s The Rabbit Punches. Dude Stop Being A Dirty Fighter
Rematch asap
dont think he wants that
Be grateful you got this shot Josh after all your recent losses. it was a Great fight. Robbed? You were sparked out on your feet. Ref made the call. IF you get a rematch youll be the luckiest fighter out there, pay day after pay day after pay day...be grateful. There's no agenda lad stop playing the victim. There's no obligation to give you a rematch. BUT...a rematch would be a great fight and a huge pay day for you both. Probably best for both of you financially at this stage.
The ref probably would have given him a chance if he hadn't turned his back. You need to show the ref you are able to continue and turning away is not good body language. I would have like him to have a chance he was well up on the cards.
