    So they're here?
    Love all the excitement! Yes bring somebody with a kayak next time and drop the bait farther for better action.
    That could have been a big ray or large sand tiger shark like you said. I also recommend mackerel as a great backup option if bunker is not available.

      @@BrianMonticello make sure the mackerel isn't cleaned because they also sell cleaned macks ready for cooking at the market. Those will not be effective without their guts and blood for scent. Just a warning as I've seen somebody make that mistake before haha.

    I would love to do some east coast tuna fishing, simply because I have been told it is a really rough fish to land. Charter fisherman I know say that the Goliath grouper is about the only fish harder to land.

    • @BrianMonticello

      @@BrianMonticello I know this is old but wanted to chine in, big big rays usually make a good run, then they bury themselves in the sand. Feels like the line got snagged or something. If you set the rod down , they will eventually move, could be a long time though.
      I had several do that and after the third or fourth time of that snagged feeling, I just set the rod down amd left the clicker on. Sure enough after a while, it started swimming again. Ended up landing several of them by doing that, they always bury themselves after that first run though.

    Brown sharks and Sand Tiger Sharks are nowhere near the same species . Both are protected , you must use a non stainless , non offset circle hook .

    • @BrianMonticello
      @BrianMonticello  Před 3 lety

      Gojira 1970 sorry yeah that was a total mistake, I’m in the habit of calling both the sandbar shark and the sand tiger shark “brown sharks” even though they’re totally different species, the sand bar actually being the brown shark!

    You should have woken her to make sure she was ok. Feeling awkward is feeling awkward, but if she needed medical help even if she was breathing. But glad someone or herself got her up and out of there.

    • @BrianMonticello
      @BrianMonticello  Před 4 lety +1

      Dorian Payne you’re right, in hindsight we shouldn’t have been scared because it was dark out, we should have woken her up and made sure she was alright. After we went back and got the rest of our stuff, her (and her bike) were gone, otherwise we probably would have called 911 or something. We were debating either that or waking her up
