The Black Death & the Lost Villages of Dorset

- Today, I follow the trail of the Black Death ☠ in 1348 through Dorset, England, in search for some of 19 villages that were wiped out following the pandemic 🐀.
I visit Weymouth Harbour, where the Black Death first arrived at Britain by a ship from Gascony. I then move on, in search of the Lost Villages of Holworth, Bardolfston, Lazerton and Knowlton. Together with my drones, I manage to see a glimpse of what these villages looked like nearly 700 years ago 😲
The Black Death claimed the lives of half of Britain's population, 2.5 millions souls. 25 million people died from the Black Death in Europe, and 125 million people worldwide 😨

Great choice of music. I usually watch CZcams on 1.5 or 1.75 speed, but the fascinating detail in your shows gets me back to normal or 1.25 speed.

Interesting video. I imagine in those days it was best practice to flee from areas of plague since there were not vaccines available. The Spanish Influenza of 100 years ago went through 4 waves and was devastating as well. Why does civilization go through these times of pestilence? Only God knows the answer. Thanks for sharing your research.
Thanks David. The Spanish Flu was used quite a bit for comparison when COVID first struck. I remember each wave was more deadlier than the last. What further escalated the spread was the number of WW1 soldiers in poorly equipped make do hospitals too. Scary stuff. Thanks for watching and for the comment 👍

Correct, Gascony is France, as I have clearly shown with red dot at 0:52. I did not say it was in Spain. I stayed there for 4 weeks back in '88.
