@@smayjay62 Dice is also correct for the singular ! Die can't be used for plural but dice can be used for a single dice.
This actually got me into researching the matter a bit. While every dictionary does usually agree it can be used for singular AND plural, one of them defines the plural as being dices. Oxford defines it as being only the plural and die only the singular. This is one weird matter for such a simple word :P
I personally feel like it's fine using dice for singular.
You missed one step: when everyone around you encourages you to buy dice because you become the dice dealer for the whole group

As a dice goblin myself, the first thing I did when my brother told me he and his friends were starting a dnd group was to tell him to have fun. The second thing I did was send him one of the 25 set bag of dice from Amazon. Gotta keep the dice goblin race going strong
Introduce ppl to precious stone dice to really get them hooked, fun fact malachite dice are actually poisonous so they can also be your first toxic dice for playing rogues and rolling poison damage the 2 times you'll use it in 5e

I've got dice that don't have regular sets because I found a site where you can buy a pound of random dice. And yes I also have the DeeDee set.

I have a separate bag for my orphans! I use them for whenever I use guidance, bardic inspo, or anything else that gives someone else an extra dice anything.
Get yourself the octagonal or hexagonal dice tray with the dice holders around the outside. The hex allows for d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, & d20. Octagonal you can add the d10(+10) and another d6 slot or a matching set for your character. They're pretty cool and keep your dice organized.
I was on step 13 when I realized I have problem. Step 13 is acceptance that you are a dice goblin and that you need more shiny math rocks to click clack in our hands
I'm guilty of putting my friend on that path. She was playing a very long time, using a phone app to roll the dice. But on her birthday, I gave her hers first set. Now she has around 20 sets. Including one metal set...
I turned her into goblin and there is no way back.

I always thought of step 1 as "It would be nice to roll the XdY's I need all at once instead of rerolling the same 1 X Y times"
and then step 2 would be having a character with an obscenely high damage roll
Not those are 2 and 3. Step 1 is getting the standard 1 of each set. Then 4 you start building matching sets for each character.
I started out with just one dice set. Then I bought a set of 5 of Amazon on sale for half price at $10 and gave my original pair to a friend who only had the one set and was starting to think one set wasn't going to cut it. Having this many dice has been very nice for stuff like advantage rolls, as I can roll two D20s for each of my character's attacks instead of having to do it with one dice. I haven't bought any more outside that 5 set though, although I did buy myself a swanky ass arena to toss them in.

This is why I have like 8 extra d6s. My first character was a rogue, but I actually just ended up letting the wizard use them for fireball.
@@nobodyimportant2470 yeah, I've got a set for each character. Then I decided to buy five more sets from Dice Druid because they looked cool. What's funny, is we roll in DnD Beyond.
I had one set of dice. My friends knew I liked DnD and collectively got 7 more pairs + 2 dice bags for a birthday present. (They didn't know that everyone had the same exact plan) It spiraled. My dice are now uncountable. Thank you, friends, for putting me on this path. Your contributions will be remembered forever.

When I started my group, I got 4 pretty sets themed after the four seasons with season themed shapes inside, and a tub of 20 regular sets for my players to share since they were all brand new. They have all bought their own sets (except one guy) and now the tub is mostly just for me if the four seasons dice are misbehaving.
One of my friends just had the worst luck. (Luckily he moved closer to us.) Lost nearly all of what he had. Hubs and I picked up a three pack of dice Walmart sells because we had incomplete sets (mine had lost the percentage dice and I can't remember what my husband was missing).
Then we all split the cost of a pound of dice and split it up and made us individual sets. It has just enough to make 5 sets of dice.
I feel ya. Anytime i see a cool set of dice i always gotta remind myself that i got enough dice at home. Even got some silicon molds in case i ever feel like making a custom set.

Yeah dont worry, had the same satandard 7 sets you order together, and now every fe months i might order 1 or 2 and i think im at 15-17, so dont lose hope 🤣 the key is not to spend all of your moneybat once 😁

I was obsessed with dices before i knew D&D existed , Adhd obsession for geometry and polygons plus Mario Party games started this addiction at elementary school

For those who do not know, DGA stands for Dice Goblins Anonymous
So this last Christmas my mom gifted me my first physical dice (I mostly play via online so there was little rush for me to seek out physical dice). I was fine with these, she picked out a very good set for me despite feeling overwhelmed when she purchased them, and so I intended to stick with these. However….the ogl fiasco I believe we all remember. While that was still ongoing I had gone with my dad to the comic book/gaming store (its both for where I live) and I got really depressed looking at the dnd sourcebooks. Usually when I make a trip out there I purchase a new book. However, due to the fiasco, I wasn’t going to that time. And before you ask why didn’t I just get another ttrpg game, it’s because most of the ones of interest to me were sold out from many people already doing that. So that’s why I bought dice and a dice bag. It’s a cute dice bag in pretty metallic rainbow iridescent colors and the fabric (or leather?) resembles dragon scales. It also has a blue and magenta eye. I quite love it. The dice I got are some very pretty bright blue with gold lettering. Very nice. I did consider the metal rose gold dice with the white snowflakes (I’m playing the Icewind Dale module) but those were well beyond the budget I was willing to consider that trip and, while I want to support my local store, I did not budget to spend that much at once. So I got some cheaper dice and a dice bag. I also gave myself a rule, as soon as that dice bag is full, I’m done with buy dice, no excuses. The size it more than enough for any spells, even high level ones and I did not need to deal with that. Plus, I got a young nephew and another niece/nephew forming right now and I don’t want to keep too many dice for fear they will either pocket them or choke on them. I have lots of cool Knick knacks and I’m particularly popular with my nephew by letting him browse through them. I’d rather not deal with him finding and messing with my dice. It’s a bit too soon for him to grasp the many rules of dnd but maybe in a year or so he will be ready for an intro adventure. For now, I might look for a 6 year old friendly ttrpg for a kid who definitely has inherited the family adhd genetics. Fingers crossed.

I own a set of Amethyst dice, they are the most expensive set of dice I own, I will never use them, and I do not regret buying them at all, they are awesome.
I love Amethyst, it's my favourite gemstone, so I actually searched to see if gemstone dice exist and they did.

I skipped stages 4, 5 and 6, and just bought 7 dice sets and they arrived today, I am effectively on stage 6

That is so true. I still think my first pair might be my favorite though (although the tiny ones do come very close). Mainly because my first DM bought us all dice. He just had us find one we like and he bought them. Said his first DM did it for him so I'm hopping to buy my players all a set when I start Dming. Definitely want to get more though lol

I'm in the discovery stage. My willpower is stronger than my urges so far, BUT THERE ARE EPIC DICE OUT THERE!!!! I already have 2 sets of expensive dice that i love, but it's not enough to satisfy the goblin inside... Did you know that there are hollow metal dice that sound like bells when you roll multiple at once? They look cool and go ding

I got a set, then bought four more sets because pretty and basic colors, and I truly do think that's enough, I'm just now looking at oddly shaped dice, such as the spherical dragon eggs, and ones that look like crystals! I'll admit it would be more of a problem if I ever saw them in person on sale, since I try not to buy online to fight frugal spending XD

Ah man.... mine started with a set of blue and white marble colored dice. I loved them and the cool "display case" (just the regular plexiglass rectangle container but I thought it was rad as a kid) they came in. What's great is I still have them.. except the d4.. probably stepped on one day and hucked into the nether.
I think I'm trucking along at #7.
I have my 4dice tray sets (7 piece sets with extra d8 and d20) I also keep a few sets of 12d6 (to match the 4 sets above) and a workhorse set of 36d6, a set of 10d10 (for EB crits and Darren's drops) then I have four loaner sets I also have 2 event d6s, 8d8, and 5d20 as extras in the tray. Then at home I have 3 metal sets and at least 62 plastic sets. (I counted a bit over two years ago and have picked up a few since then but haven't done a new count.)
This a humble collection but when I want to get new dice I talk myself into getting a mini instead. I currently have a bookshelf full and a few that still to make but that is a different anonymous to go to.
One of the adds I got before the video started was for a mail order dice subscription service. If I didn’t know better I would say it was a sign.

I, a fellow dice goblin, had my initiation with five pairs. It came with the official beginner's box. Then the official essentials. Plus 4 more sets. This is only the beginning. If only the dice at level up dice werent so expensive..
I always say, why have one set of dice for a character when instead I can have a whole palette dedicated to said character and change sets out as my character grows.

I just decided to show my family world of dice and told them if they want to give me something for my birthday or christmas a set of dice would be nice.
I'm glad I never fully became that when I used to play D&D regularly. I did have a few sets and then some random ones that came in a pack, but I never went too crazy with it. I completely do get it though, because if I see a pretty set, I'm always tempted, but remind myself I don't even play at the moment. XD That said, literally used a Black Friday deal to nab a set of resin molds to make some of my own.
