    One thing that concerns me today is how many young people doubt God's willingness, even eagerness, to forgive them. Father, how can people grow in their trust of God's love and mercy? The Greek people I know never seem to struggle with this, but I think many Americans do. Why is that?

      Its the same with Latinos who were raised in Christianity wether Catholicism or protestantism and mostly if you were raised with parents that shown you the faith growing up, typically I noticed that their children will never completely forsake the faith, so it can be a generational issue. I also think it has to do with the strong secular delusions and societal standards within the western culture that lead many people astray into nihilism and with little to no faith.

    • @OrthodoxFamilyLife

      @@Bruhdotcom777Yes, the Latinos have it, too. However, I see it even in Russian people whose parents were atheists. My hunch is that it is about stable families. If you know, in a deep way not just intellectually, that your parents love you, then I think it gives you a good foundation for understanding how God loves you. Some kids seem to know that no matter what they do, they know their parents will still love them. If your parents were unable to show you the love you needed, maybe you have a harder time trusting God. I would love to have OE flush this out more.

    This year of my life I have given the most effort I have during the lent fast and not just fasting from food. But what I have also seen thus far is the body of believers rising up to fight the passions and temptations all around me. Father heers and many others are a beacon leading the charge against the enemy of our souls. Πατέρα καλή δύναμη πάντα. Η ευλογία και η χάρη του κυρίου μας. Οι προσπάθειες και τα έργα σας είναι σαν πρώτες βοήθειες. ☦️

    If you fall into lustful sin again and again, you need to get the fear of the Lord, of which you will focus on judgment day, knowing that God will reject those who defy him. With that in mind, you will live for the eternal and not fall into the lustful sins of this world. This is how you remain clean.

    Lust is particularly difficult because it is a good thing in the context of a Christian marriage. But for singles who seek to avoid lust, especially if they are not even dating anyone, is virtually impossible. Even monks must struggle with this!

      We cannot help what temptations arise but we can help whether or not we give in to tempting thoughts and desires. The more we starve a desire the more it withers, and the more we feed it the stronger it grows.

    It's difficult for me to say this, because I do not wish to cast judgment on my priest, but the couple of times that I have confessed my fleshly sins I was simply told "Do not dwell on it. God allows you to live with it," which is just not helpful when you want to cease committing these sins. I have actually stopped going to confession, because it felt pointless to do so when every time I get the same "advice". So my question is, is the act of confessing still healing and helpful for me spiritually, even though the worldly advice I receive isn't helping much? And also, I have never been advised to not partake in Communion, so how 'damaging' is that? Thank you.

  • @Neodreth
    @Neodreth Před 4 měsíci +5

    Lets be realistic, we can not all be Monks and considering the fact that sex before marriage falls in the category of lust, good luck finding to date someone with sex out of the picture. Nowadays you can't have a relationship without sex and if you tell your other half we will only have sex if we get married, they will think you are a weirdo and leave you. So practically this means you will end up alone and still have to struggle with lust because masturbation is not allowed either. These are the problems that i have never heard any Priest talk about, it's easy to say pray, resist, hate the sin etc but that's all in theory, they need to realize that we are not all living in a Monastery where the environment is restricted and guarded, our struggle is way bigger with the daily temptations we have to deal with.

      lost out several relationships with ladies because I refused sexual advances the first day. Not the first week or month, but just the first day.
      these are the times we live in. A spineless generation of fathers came before us.
      Just run with it as one of our holy struggles, an active form of sainthood for the men of this generation - most of which will not go on to have children with the lack of women unfit to be mothers. Not sure what God's plan for this is, but I will trust it the best I can

      that why you have to find someone in the church with the same beliefs, if you're dating atheists while expecting a Godly union, you're probably not catechized very well. Fr Peter has 8 children I believe; who is talking about monastics?

    Why do you need to go to a confession!!

    • @OrthodoxEthos
      @OrthodoxEthos  Před 4 měsíci +5

      Because the Lord told His disciples, “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matt 18:18) This authority to “loose” others from sin was given by the Apostles to bishops and priests that they ordained. We can and should confess to God whenever we sin but to be “loosed” from the eternal consequences of sin, we must go to Confession with a priest who has been given this authority from Orthodox bishops.

      Better a priest who gives a very good word twice a year, then a priest who tries to explain your situation every time after the confession
