    Just bought the A7s111 and after watching Sony's brand new tutorial streaming master class which was absolutely horrible I found your video on the a7 111 to get started on this beast, you are amazing, the video is articulate, easy to follow and xlint visuals of camera, Sony needs to hire you they are completely clueless . a pro camera that is designed to Hollywood specs should have the same level of education on the camera. You saved the day, I will watch more of your videos!

    Quick tip. Lens dot/body cap marker can also align with the sensor plane marker on topside of camera body - easier to see sometimes than lens flange dot. “Dots” all for now. (Sorry.) Keep hot shoe cover in place when no flash is attached to avoid accidentally shorting out the electrical contacts. EVF diopter wheel adjustment should have been included - in case info around image in evf does not appear sharp.

    Jay, thanks so much for this video. It feels silly to be such a newb using such an expensive camera, but this was so helpful to get me going. Any chance you'll make this into a series? Where would you suggest someone starts exploring after the auto and P modes?

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  Před 5 lety +2

      Wel, it really depends on what you are doing I would say. For photography I use Aperture Priority mode most of the time, because usually depth of field is what I'm looking to play with while taking photos of my kids or some landscapes. I would just dial the aperture towards the lower number for portraits, then dial it up to the higher numbers for landscapes. If you are shooting sports however, the shutter speed becomes more of a critical element getting a sharp action capture. So for that I would use the Shutter priority mode. In the studio environment, or lab in my case, I would use manual mode to lock down the camera into exact settings that I know I want for video usually. I really think the best thing you can do is just get out there and start taking photos and videos. Play around and try and have some fun. Challenge yourself in different ways, and you will find certain modes and settings will work better for different situations. I hope that helps ;) As far as making a series? I'm not really sure about that due to my limited time. What did you have in mind?

When I made the decision to buy my Sony A7S iii I knew I would be facing a steep learning curve. The past couple of days I found your help manuals, today I found this helpful video, then when you pointed out your help manuals I realized they are made by you! The manuals are excellent but this video will get me going so I can refer more to the manuals. It seems there are many similarities between the cameras.

    thank you for a very clear and informative video - I have just moved to Sony A73 from Panasonic G9 and this really helps me insert myself into the rather complex world of Sony menus and ergonomics. On many other sites the reviewers just get a bit too excited and wrapped up in the Sony universe and assume all listeners know the basic stuff. Much appreciated - now I can take some pictures and wont delete them by accident!
