Good explanation and demonstration! I've seen tools misused more often than not.
One of the successful elements is to watch and see if horse is getting bothered. We layer pressures and ask our horses to accept and submit when we're kind fair and clear they will understand and comply. I like to take advantage of the educational opportunity.and ask the horse to recognize my core body position as I do when under saddle.
Bellybutton to the tail moving forward- bellybutton to the nose for slowdown and stop. Horses recognize this quickly and for those watching looks like magic. Try it and be amazed! Glad I found you thanks again.
