When I was a kid I'd listen to classic rock, like Pink Floyd, and my parents would yell, "Turn down that noise."
I guess, by their definition, that was pink noise.
Master Therion you sir win the comments section.
I'd listen to the Blue Man Group and White Stripes. Now it all just sounds like noise.
Master Therion yesssss
I saw this coming I was going to say it too though
Man how many Punns do you got.
White noise sounds like wind going through a forest. Pink noise sounds like heavy but calm rain. Brown noise sounds like constant waves
Rain was the first thing I thought of too when hearing pink noise.
Which is better?
@@enigmatickass2573 Well for me all produce a small headage so i can choose if one of these is better
i think i farted sorry
The noise of $100 bills falling on my face will help me sleep
Software Man I'm having sleep problems too
Ahhh you mean green noise
Same, bro
Okay, Scrooge McDuck! 😁
😄😄
Oh, yeah. My tv and my radiator are very natural.
Erómeon * as in the sound is occurring by the object rather than a recording of the sound played back on an audio device later* deliberately ignoring context to pretend something doesn't make sense is so pointless
No they're not. They're man made
10 *whoosh*
Matt R What's a 'Whoosh'?
10 r/whoosh
To me, the pink noise sounded most like a rain shower. That may be why it works the best for us while sleeping. I love to sleep during a rain storm.
Fascinating. Pink noise sounds more like calm waves on a beach and white noise more like static, to me anyway. Thought your g/f's name was Leela? ;-)
"Technically correct, the best kind of correct"
I'm already at your level
Futurama quiz time
I believe in brown noise, the poop kind. I was at a Luau about 15 years ago and someone had brought a conch shell that had been drilled to play when blown. I gave it a try. It was pretty cool. Then I passed it to a teen who was there. He gave it a try, and it wasn't much different than when I played it. Then he passed it to his little sister. When she played it, I suddenly feel a deep gurgling in my lower guts. Things were on the move! I placed my hands on my stomach and bent slightly in discomfort. When I looked next to me, the boy who had played the conch after me was in the exact same position as I was, with the exact same expression of digestive discomfort on his face. Then the note ended and we were both immediately fine.
Do you think they slipped it into this video? I suddenly feel like I need to take a dump.
Lol South Park.
On Wednesdays, we wear pink.
Seeker I also used to listen to futurama and have just about memorized the dialogue too.
Seeker that's hella gay
Do none of you understand this Mean Girls reference? That is so not fetch.
Seeker wtf Baskin’ & Robbins
On Wednesday, we hear pink
I produce my own naturally occurring brown noise. I've become quite adept at it.
3:10
To clarify, that's the brown _note,_ which is very different from brown noise.
"The sound of your girlfriend snoring...KATIE." LOLOLOL!
Julian. On your level, dude! I store Futurama episodes on my DVR to help me sleep at night! I never knew anybody else did this!
Also got all those quotes you slipped in!
I'm with you on futurama, I know a few people right along with us as well. We are not alone.
Incredible! I loved the video, and learned a lot, thank you!
0:01 wtf same I use to put Futurama but then it went off Netflix so I went to Malcom in the middle then that got off Netflix and now I’m on guardians of the Galaxy vol 2
Whenever I would hear a high pitch sonic tone in hearing tests, I think of the color pink! The buzzing sound of neon lights makes me think of red, the long beep sound you used to hear on the test pattern of emergency broadcast system, makes me think of blue, and so on!
Absolutely loved the Futurama references! What a hero! Instantly shot to the top of my favorite seeker reporters.(sorry trace)
What's orange noise like? ...Only because that's my favorite color lol.
I have really loud neighbors and I have been using repeating sounds to mask noises in the evening,it's very effective and has helped me sleep even better than before, when I had no loud neighbors and no sound machine.
I use the sound of a wind blowing in the field,it's a 40 min loop I play over and over,I guess it's kinda like pink noise.
If you ever loose sleep to annoying sounds,or have trouble falling asleep due to annoying sounds,I highly recomend just hooking up some old smartphone/PC to some speakers and playing some nature sounds on a loop.
It must not be that that loud if you don't require loud earphones.
Futurama is my bed time sound track too!!!! I couldn't even count how many times I have watched it!
Best knowledge channel on youtube so far.
I have a fan on while sleeping, the noise from the fan sounds alot like pink noise with an occasional low swelling pulse from the motor. Very relaxing
Interesting, I once heard a type of tv static that sounded amazing, similar to ocean waves. I think it was from a satellite tv thingy.
“Katie” *looking at you
Thanks for explaning
But WHY are the sounds named after colors? (Other than Brown which has a reason)
Ah, I suppose that would make sense. Being nearly colorblind I just don't think about colors as identifiers. Thank you.
Wait, how many people actually turn on white noise before sleeping? Feels like an odd thing to do
Harshil Patel basically every person i talk to has either a fan or something going in the background. Mostly box fans
Harshil Patel helps with tinnitus or people who just are used to noise
shoot didn't realize they mentioned tinnitus
im used to noise so having a box fan on at night (to also help cool me down since I burn up easily ever since I was young) does help me sleep.
I use a fan. It helps drown out noise that would otherwise wake me up. Sort of gets to be a habit when you live in an apartment building and there are random noises during the night.
I usually listen to brown noise while studying. I like the low rumble. It's like standing near a large waterfall.
Loving all these Futurama references! :D
Yes Katy!
Ooo pink and brown noise both sound really nice
well pink noise sounds lighter to me than the white one, nice information.
thankyou
I am partial to Brown noise. It reminds me of laying in the backseat of a moving vehicle with the windows partially cracked. 2:58
I am with you, I turn on Futurama and listen to it as I go to sleep. I have always likes listening to old time radio shows, but Futurama has taken that over now.
So thats maybe why it feels better to sleep when raining
Interesting sounds
I started sleeping with a fan on in the room to counter and block the morning noises of neighbors mowing their lawns or kids playing, working second or third shift is sometimes hard on sleep. It works pretty well, but I am interested if there is something better!
make a science+ series pls
i like this subject
My hypothesis is that humans have not fully evolved to sleep in the quiet environments that our homes offer. Ancient humans likely slept in more noisy environments such as forests, rivers (many tribes etc still do) caves situated close to forests, rivers, beaches, any natural environment you could think of. The noise experienced while sleeping likely does have an effect on how we function as people; I would be really interested to find out the nature of the effect(s) and what type of noise they’re in response to
Katie. Also +1 for the three Futurama references. ALSO also +1 for using Futurama to sleep to. Did that for year until SOMEONE (*cough* Netflix *cough*) removed it from their database.
What color noise is my ceiling fan? Can't sleep without that hum.
i know it's probably a coincidence but the sound of ocean waves crashing on a rocky cliff edge has always been brown in my head (synesthesia) and that's also what the "brown noise" sounds like....im aware I could also just be projecting just cause brown sounds like ocean waves to me and maybe it's like that yanny laurel thing and you hear what you imagine you're going to hear but still. Pretty cool.
*You guys are awesome* 👏
I love your vids🎬 its so imformation
Mst3k episodes usually do it for me, the "Lost Continent" and "Beast of Yucca Flats" episodes in particular
the noise in my head goes like this
"Hey there again! It's me! The voice in your head, and which embarrassing are we going to replay again? OOh! This one! That time 6 years ago when you didn't return your friend's high five!"
Wow hejehee you watch Futurama on loop hahahah so funny, great banter!!
Loving the futurama references!
My wife grew up listening to a fan in the background, it drowns out other noises that waker her up because she is a light sleeper. Now we listen to a low volume brown noise, it drowns out everything pretty well, but you cans till hear when one of our kids are up because we keep the volume low.
I hope they also start to study the effects of ASMR and Binaural beats during sleep, they're both currently pretty popular ways people try to 'zone out' and relax...
Brown sound is nice too, better than white for studying to me. much deeper
edit: Oh youve got them all here! Brown is more soothing than pink to me. Could you do a vid explaining Brownian motion?
I just have a box fan running. One, it keeps me cool, and two, it generates plenty of background noise to block everything else out.
If you hear colors, you've got problems
amazing video
Tried noise a while ago to help me sleep. White and pink are too harsh for me, i liked brown noise the best. But yeah i need to have noise or can't sleep. Usually episodes of a show i'm watching or watch in the past. True fact, it took me like 4 attempts to ever get through the 1st lord of the rings, fantastic at making me fall asleep :)
Wow, brown noise sounds like rain in the distance. Awesome.
liked the brown noise, sounds like the ocean at home
Finally, someone with some actual good taste; can't wait for August .
More on this??? Pretty please???
In my opinion, brown noise sounds like the HD version of white noise. I enjoy it for sleeping. I unfortunate live on the first floor and my bedroom window faces the busy street.
This video brought to you by Futurama
Amazing
I like to fall asleep listening to youtube.
hey I do that futurama thing too. The most underrated tv series ever.
lol i just found pink noise on my white noise app a few days ago, when i had to share a hotel room with my snoring mother. i had never heard of it before. i found the pink was much better than white, brown, blue, or purple for drowning out the snoring. blue and purple were way too high pitched and sounded screechy.
White noise, to me, sounds like TV static. Pink noise sounds like heavy rain and brown noise sounds like you’re inside an airplane
How is static from a tv natural white noise ?
does brown noise sound like an ocean? like really wavy ocean on a windy day... or maybe a sound of a waterfall.
I like listening to my fan when I sleep/relax which is a lower note so I'd rather have Brown or Gray noise honestly. White and Pink at that high pitch would keep me up all night
I use Blue Brown and Violet mixed together.
Futurama Rules! and nothing better for sleeping or just re-re-re watching 👍
I liked the second Futurama deep cut...
Julian needs to be in more videos.
Any recommendations on iPhone apps or devices that produce pink noise to put in the bedroom?
My favorite noise-color? Burnt orange: the sound of a million butterscotch candies gently caramelizing. Your welcome. 𝙍𝙞𝙠𝙠𝙞 𝙏𝙞𝙠𝙠𝙞.
Noice
flash king this needs to be top comment
Rare_Epicness thank you
thumbs up for watching every episode of Futurama to go to sleep. about five times for me so far...
which one is better for Studying ?
Every night I must have white noise on to sleep. Over time I've tried brown, pink, blue, etc. For me pink noise helps best for sleep with brown being the runner up
Blue noise sounded a little like an ocean shore, could be why the ocean is such a popular sound for sleep aid
Way to rock the Futurama and Southpark references
The way you called out Katie...¡
[Captain America Point] I got that Futurama reference(s)
Brown sounds like the ocean. Pink sounds like peace....I'm off to buy a noise machine
Strangely I found the background noise of this video so distracting that I could focus on what you say with a lot of difficulties. Maybe you can tweak with it for your next videos!
Bureaucrat Conrad! you are technically correct. Which is the best kind of correct.
i cant sleep without my fan on
i put a white noise mp3 on a $10 android phone and hooked it up to $10 speakers. works great
Nothing beats the sound of a waterfall or a fountain. Not all noise, but less boring.
What's the different shades of grey noise sounds like?
So my cheap Walmart box fan i run at night to help keep me cool would be pink noise then?
If anyone wants to try out the different types of noise:
WHITE NOISE ==> czcams.com/video/GgfdQJRkKQ8/video.html
BROWN NOISE: ==> czcams.com/video/LnwtFrCvUQw/video.html
PINK NOISE ==> czcams.com/video/5RkZpiXqn5E/video.html
Lol, watching this just before I go to bed to an endless loop of cartoons myself XD
01:13 - So what does a doghouse sound like at night? :D :D :D
Who else is just looking for noise for their lofi beat?.
You should have played the blue noise, then asked if we were annoyed ... rather than offered the warning first.
Brown noise sounds kinda like heavy rain
Brown and pink sound like the crashing of ocean waves
loving the futurama references
