  • How to Make a Sandman Cosplay Helmet. One of my bucket list builds is Dream's helmet from Neil Gaiman's The Sandman. This comic book series is absolutely fantastic and I am excited to see the live action version on Netflix. In this video I show the steps I took to create Sandman's helmet out of Eva HD Foam. If you would like to build one as well I have Free PDF templates available on my website. This helmet is a mix of several comic book references as well as the Netflix version. In part 1 I cover the fabrication of Dream's helmet and in part 2 I will go over all of the steps it takes to paint and weather the piece.

      I'm making this. Unfortunately I just looked at the links when I ordered the supplies and didn't confirmed they were correct. For the foam you have 2, 6 and 10 mm on the link instead of 4, 6, and 10 mm that is required. Will it work just as well if I double up on the two mm?

    Question: Is it comfortable to look out of the helm because it looks to me the area between two lenses is pretty thick. Is it blocking your vision in any way? Should I adjust anything or is it clear enough as is?
    Btw awesome tutorial and template, it looks really cool!

    • @SKSProps

      Seeing out is fine. There is a bit of space between the eyes but the helmet also comes off fast so you could only put it on when you need a pic

    This is amazing, dude!!! You're so talented. Whenever I make props for cosplay, I replace the foam with cardboard... but this one seems a little bit more complicated. Do you think this could be built with cardboard? Sending love :D

    • @SKSProps
      @SKSProps  Před měsícem

      First off thanks! secondly cardboard would be tough the while reason I like for is that it can take a compound curve and streatch in two ways at once. Foam is cheap just start moving in that direction and your builds will also be lighter and more durable

    This ain't easy but I'm using this for my first cosplay and gotta finish in 4 days already almost done cutting but ran out of 10 and am using double up 6 mm for the vertebrae which I assume that'd be fine because I'm sanding it before I put it together. Also I'm using it as my first cosplay because 2 months ago I wanted to make dreams helm.

    Quick question. When it comes to using a bandsaw is there any specific types of blades that work best for foam? I just picked up a smaller table top one second hand and need to replace the blade.

    • @SKSProps
      @SKSProps  Před 2 lety +1

      Depends my blade is 20+ years old can’t cut wood because it’s so dull but works great on foam. But you want a straight blad with no offset teeth. McMaster carr sells specifically foam blades I bought one but haven’t used it yet
