These are the exact conversations I have in my head before I then proceed to hit the ball a random distance and direction

They're eerily similar to the ones I have before I clip the top of the ball and it jumps up a metre off the deck and spins forward ten, so i don't know whether to bring my bag or just and angrily hack the next shot into the trees and go back for it
I had a similar shot to Jordan today. I hit it the exact same way he did. The only difference is that mine hit hit f***ing tree, and it ended up going 30 yards. Hate this sport. And I’ll be out there again next week.

If there’s one thing I’ve learnt from this video, it’s that caddy’s tend to know best in tricky situations

Well yes, but no? I think the golfer knows what he can and cannot do or even feels something the caddie can't. Like you can say, hit that hook around the trees but if the player doesn't have that shape in him that day... he's going over the trees lol. At the end of the day, the golfer is the one who has to hit the shot
Every terrible result a caddy knew best. Every amazing shot you remember the caddy wanted a punch out/layup
If we can get this live during tournament play that would be so interesting!
Along with club head speed, ball speed, stance, swing path etc. there’s is so much more they could do.....

If only they had this during the rounds more often. Their conversations are very good to hear.
This was the best part of no galleries for 2020. We got to hear the players and caddies so much better. Added so much more depth to these players.
This type of video is actually really interesting, just to see what the players are thinking is so insightful
And, the job of the caddie at some point is to say "I love it". Even if the caddie knew a better shot, having 100% confidence on a good-enough shot is better than good-enough confidence on a 100% shot.

Honestly, I love how professional Cink and his son are when they are on the course.
I’d love to see an entire weekend of caddies play the Masters....how fun would that be for people who watch golf....
A special weekend where the candies become the player and players are the cadies would be so good haha
I never knew the accuracy and mathematical calculations these conversations are. How fascinating! Wish there where more spotlights on caddies, their expertise is amazing.
Yeah no range finders on the PGA. The caddies have every square foot of the course paced off and marked down so they know exactly how far they are hitting from every location.
We need more of this

This is one part of watching the PGA Tour that I have thoroughly enjoyed. As bad as this sounds, you can leave the fans at home and I would have more of this any day. More of this for the 20/21 season please.

From having some time off from looping this is really cool to watch, I caddied for women pro a few times. Really need to have a good dynamic and trust between the player and the caddie, team work makes the dream work.

Always a good idea to compare this compilation to what Jon Rahm and his caddie's conversation
Does make me really curious if they had lasers would the rounds be quicker - they’re gonna get the right number either way. Just a lot less adding and subtracting to do if they can get the pin first and work out the gaps from there.

No wonder my game sucks. I don’t have a caddy telling me exact yardage/wind/pin placement. Signed, guy whose first drive last weekend bounced off a tree, then the cart path, and directly into the windshield of a Mercedes that was parked at the country club. Two lessons here, kids: 1) Don’t park your car in the lot right next to the 1st tee box, and 2) don’t try to go over the trees on a dog leg when you’re handicap is measured in the dozens.

Notice how the caddy at 2:16 said he liked 1 club less because it would come out hot. A lot of times a fluffy lie in the rough you will catch a flier. It goes an extra clubs length almost.

It's a yardage book.
Numbers to front of green, to the pin and club hit. They use it as a reference for future days.

Personally the best feeling is when my dad makes me play a scramble as his ringer and he tells me to play a shot safe and I argue , nah dad i can go through the trees, or around them, or i can reach the green, and then you just stick it.
Imagine 2000 people watching and you are arguing with your caddie you pay 200k plus lol

What are the books they're doing math in? Are they measuring wind speed?
No. Its a course map. Each page has the map of each hole. The caddies walk the whole course before a match and put in every yardage they can on the maps. Numbers all over the page plus yardage on the greens depending on placement of flag. With all that math they then calculate the club needed depending on wind speed as well. AND on top of that they have to know how far each club the professional hits so they can zone in the players next hit to the nearest yard. It's just numbers numbers and more numbers

@@aaronm8143 a lot of caddies are exceptional golfers in their own right. But yes, they are game changers which is why they take a chunk of their bosses winnings
Dumb question, when they are saying "35 and 48", are they talking about yards from the hole?? It seems like they were way farther out than that.
I think they're implying the 100 part of it. So 135 and 148. Just shortening the convo
