Hi Walkers, in this episode of virtual walking tour, we will explore the city center of Hanau, a town in the Main-Kinzig-Kreis, in Hesse, Germany and known as the birthplace town of The Brothers Grimm. It is located 25 km east of Frankfurt am Main and is part of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main Metropolitan Region. Its station is a major railway junction and it has a port on the river Main, making it an important transport centre.
The town is known for being the birthplace of Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm and Franciscus Sylvius. Since the 16th century it was a centre of precious metal working with many goldsmiths. It is home to Heraeus, one of the largest family-owned companies in Germany.

I was there for a month in 2019, pretty much made the same walk a lot. My daughter lives in Hanau Steinheim, and my other daughter lives near Berger Strasse in Frankfurt. I did a lot of trains too and from Hanau. The market open on Saturday in the square where the Bruder Grimm statue is, was the best. I also lived in Gelnhausen, and stationed in Budingen in the late 1990's.

Was stationed there in the 80's . A lot has changed since then . Would love to go back someday . How about a walk from the Marktplatz out to Lamboystasse to Hessen Hamburg .

@@StadtWALKER Hessen Hamburg was the name of the US miltary koserne in Hanua . It is apartments now i think . Its on Lamboy Strasse . I walked from there into downtown Hanau many , many times .

That whole Plaza has change so much since I was last stationed there 95-98 at Hutier Kaserne. I went back there for a visit back in 2020 during the height of the pedemic. The bus stop is totally different and new.
