- Detroit-style Ballroom Dancing with master instructor, Demond Carter. For well over a decade, Demond Carter has been a pillar in the Queen City (Charlotte, NC) teaching people the fundamentals of elegant dances, popular among African Americans. Notably are Chicago Stepping and Detroit-style ballroom dancing.

In the late 1960's and 11970's, I learned to dance with the intricate turns from the older men of the 1930's, 40's, 50's, at family gatherings. In 1970 at 18, I went to College and had fun running into these familiar Dances. My Mom also taught me how to do the Bop.😄 Thank you for bringing back fond memories.
Thank you for watching and sharing your fond memories. I learned Detroit-style ballroom dancing ( sad to say) in my early fifties. Still, it has been one of the greatest joys of my life!

I just want to add something to the dance scene in Detroit, you have to go back in the day like the early 60's which was called the GREYSTONE Style which was two people slow dancing, that dance style is still done today in some of the clubs in Detroit Michigan !!!

Excellent instructions, may I ask if you also teach basic Chicago style walking, I’ve never learnt stepping or walking but I intend to. If you do have videos please point me to them, I would like to start with walking. Looking at you from Canada🇨🇦 great job!

Former "club kid" ('74-), DJ ('77-'89), and Ballroom and Latin Instructor from Toronto, Ontario, Canada here... 😁 ...who's looking forward to starting a series of family oriented (fundraising) dance classes in 2025.
The main focus will be on New York Hustle, Chicago Steppin', and West Coast Swing (although there'll be workshops on Kizomba, Salsa etc. etc.)

Wow, we are natural by the head and down to earth till we like my mommy ... I hope she was alive to see it and my sister hair product for natural hair. She tried finding good hair products for her hair 😊. Its like she died when the natural hair thing started. RIP Mom 1965-2016 oh her last name was Carter
