"admittedly, i had no one to play with"
oh look, its me
Me, too! That's why I got my brother a VR headset.
@@CaveyMoth thats an idea, maybe i'll just give my wmr to a friendo when i got the index :§
@@marshallr.8121 I'm going to have to give my WMR headsets to someone, too! Hmmm...or maybe I can put them on mannequin heads or something.
Quirky
The elephant model is so genius! A feeling of 6dof without any cameras or sensors.
Yeah, genius work from Nintendo []-)
Technically it uses an infrared camera inside the right joy-con to read the reflective tape on the elephant's face, but yes it's total genius lol
TheDuck YT too bad only the controller has the freedom, the headset stays in the same virtual space
I feel like they can use the joy cons just like normal headset controllers, sure they wouldn’t be as good and precise but they make so much potential even tho the switch is kind-of weak, but just think of the switch portability and now think of a vr headset with some really fun vr games and now mix them, boom best vr console
@@Plue0002 The sensors inside the left joy-con wouldn't allow it to be tracked like the right one is able to so that wouldn't be possible unless you used 2 right joy-cons :(
The fact that the camera is not being used for a new Pokemon Snap game is a crime.
They made the labo wheel work with mario kart 8 in a update so they can still make pokemon snap 2 and add compatibility with the camera later. Also I really like your content keep up the good work! =D
Who knows maybe in pokemon sword and shield there'll be a snap part inside for the labo just like BoTW and Odyssey
Okay now that would be an awesome game
Your gonna regret those words
I’m from the future and there’s something you should know
I saw this today in my local Game store. My Grandkids have a Switch and I nearly bought it for them, but wondered if it was a waste of money. I wish I did buy it now, it looks fun. Maybe next weekend.
You’re the grandparent we all want 🤣🤣

Fair review. What Labo VR lacks in technical prowess it makes up with the creativity and enhanced Tactical/Haptic Feedback.
Got the full kit as well and building the stuff is a real nice experience. If you have kids in the right age to build with this would even be better.
Playing the games is fun, I like this unique Nintendo style that you can even feel in some of the smaller experiences.
It will be interesting how playing Zelda will work out. Especially since there is no head strap I am not sure that you can really play this 60+ hour game well in VR while holding up the headset the whole time.
My biggest complaint is that Nintendo has built this awesome game editor (garage vr; they even delivered about 60 template games that you can mess with in this editor) .. only to miss the opportunity to add a sharing possibility for your creations. It would be sooo cool if created games could be shared online. If you look at what content creators have done with Mario Maker, this would be epic for VR on switch. Add it as an update Nintendo, its insane not to have it in already!
I hope they add it as an update!
can i ask you a thing? do you think bird and wind pedal are worth buying?
@@doppelganger_real Yes definitely! I got the full vr kit and I absolutely love the bird! And the frog is one of the weirdest experiences I've ever had
Goro chuuu the frog is sooo realistic. the wind really goes into your face!
@@justin-rt2jg I know my brain was so messed up I was like wtf?!
Hi Mike, Thanks for the vids. You are my go to guy for VR news. See u on the next one, cheers.
Cheers Clay! See you on the next one mate []-)
The best video about the theme that I was looking for, congrats for the quality!
Best review of Labo VR. Absolutely complete. Thanks!
Yea I'm going to buy Nintendo labo Vr
The labo vr kit is one of the most ingenious and original ideas I've ever seen. It is essentially prepping younger generations to become virtual reality hardware and software developers.
Nice work Mike, as usual! Glad to see you address the need for products like this in building the VR futurescape. Cheers!
Thanks mate []-)
Your video has helped me decide to buy the labo kit. We have a switch for the family to use and this is a great addition to the VR world experience. Thanks for your in-depth realistic review.
"Take a break! You've been playing for five minutes!"
-Nintendo
Great introduction! You make yourself pretty clear and you convince me!
Mike, you and I feel the same way when it comes to VR. I just bought the Nintendo Labo VR starter kit this past weekend.
thx for this review mike, hopefully nintendo enters the vr market in the future, would be awesome
Awesome!!! I was looking for some one that will make a review like yours!!! Thanks! You just got a new subscriber :D
Great video. You did a really good job in your explanation!
im probably one of the few vr enthusiasts that acually got this i enjoy it cant wait to see the crazy shit ppl make with the vr garage thing
Brilliant review
I have to say VR on the Switch is better than I expected and a lot of fun!
Yeah I suppose if you're 6 yrs old
Your video is great thank you for making it!
I have 3 kids, 12 yrs, 8 yrs, and 8 months. We already own a nintendo switch and i am getting the full VR kit for christmas. I don't know what i am more excited about, exposing hem to VR, or trying it myself. XD
really insightful video btw.
Did not think how much my kids like it. Wow. Now I'm all in!
I Agree with you about everything you said Mike, nice video man.
did not know if i should buy it but you helped me decide thx
VR Labo sounds fun I might have to pick it up.
*Nice video love your channel*
Cheers Micah []-)
This video is really really good. Glad you did it, best video about Labo VR for sure.
Lol, I just received the mega labo kit yesterday. I have had a lot of fun with the previous labo kits building along side my 6 year old daughter. I am pleasantly surprised by how good this is for the price. No, it is no Rift or psvr but I think it is a great introduction to new comers to vr. Anything that promotes vr positively is great as for as I am concerned. Now back to building that blaster lol.
I want one but it's sold out everywhere except ebay scalpers.
great job, keep it up
I agree. Switch VR is a good starting point for VR newcomers, but the VR enthusiast won't enjoy it that much. Awesome video!
I would fear it would turn away some users, Oculus Go type is better suited for newcomers imo. At least they get Netflix :P.
@@Davidrupa and Windows mixed reality is another great choice for newcomers on a budget.
Hi
I love your channel its amazingg
My ranking of the games:
Meh tier:
5. Wind Petal because it feels like an uninspiered filler one.
4. Bird because it is very random and unessesary, but also very calming and open world-y.
Good tier:
3. Camera because house camera is awful, but ocean is chill and fun.
Surprisingly good tier:
2. Blaster because it is unoriginal, but it's real life counterpart complements the vr version perfectly, it is replayable, and it's multiplayer mode is unique and very fun.
1. Elephant because it feels like what Labo VR was made for; the IRL version complements it's VR version well, it has a very long and fun marble mode, and it feels like by far the most creative and polished.
I think it's undeniable that the best part of this was how the controllers- ahem, toy cons - interacted with the VR world. Blaster and Elephant and really more fun than a lot of games I have on my quest 2, likely due to their controllers creating that immersion and fun.
I'm really hoping that Nintendo and Microsoft will team up and make the killer VR device.
I'm still waiting to see what Microsoft do, if they bring VR to Xbox, that would be really interesting []-)
Well Microsoft and Nintendo are strengthening their bond.. so..
{}-)
Windows made mixed reality, Nintendo made labo VR... Maybe there could be some good Hertz and pixels to this with something nice like OLED
@@buckle8447 I agree. I own a WMR headset and I was very surprised with what you get for $200. It's quite amazing. They definitely could do something for affordability.
Cheers Mike!
I would like to purchase for kids but was curious if it had the durability which you answered that for me so thank you! I find all your videos very informative and easy to understand, you’re awesome 😊
Dude i want this now.
Pilot wings VR would be amazing I love pilot wings wish they would make one for switch
I just came to see some bird butt VR.
3:33 YESSS! My life is now complete.
Edit: Jeez, I expected Labo VR to be really silly and not compelling..but now, I think I might get it for my niece, lol.
Don't forget about Top Wing as well!
Nintendo really squeezed all of the opportunities out of the switch here, very well done! I’m excited to see what is next hardware wise from Nintendo.
Ngl the way that the elephant kit works is genius
Yeah, it really is impressive what Nintendo were able to achieve with that setup []-)
Six thumbs down? Must be Sega fans. Great job Mike keep it up and thanks for the review!
I bought Labo VR and it was fun for about an hour.
What do you expect? You're playing with f**king cardboard.
Good Video Mike
Cheers mate, thanks for the comment. I really appreciate it []-)
Pretty cool. They should advertise them more though this was this first time seeing these things.
_ MobHunter _ pretty sure they’re advertised on childrens tv
They legit announced it first on twitter
Awesome Effort into that Thumbnail. I almost looked right passed it as it looked like copy and paste from the Marketing Images But no That’s Your Work!.
Haha thanks bro []-)
Don't forget!:
Ocean Camera = Splash and Bubbles (No longer airing on PBS Kids after October 2, 2022)
Bird = Top Wing (Weekdays on Zoom! Zoom!)
Bird Dash = Peep and the Big Wide World(?) (No longer airing on PBS Kids after December 26, 2021)
My son isn't old enough for the Quest 2, and he wants some type of VR for his birthday coming lol. He's turning 7, which is why I'm looking into this :)
Disguise a good guy and all but he makes everything seem so easy and he really is
Cool
You manage to solve a jump game made for 7 year old kids; good job :-D
No, thank you for this video, that looked fun and very creative, and it made me a bit interested in the Switch and what what other things you can do with cardboard.
I also mentioned at the end you'll be able to use the VR goggles with Zelda and Mario Odyssey which are both getting free updates on 26th April to have VR modes []-)
Are all the games you speak of on the Labo 04 cartridge? And can you use the joy cons instead of the add ons for the games? We bought the Orzly VR instead and have bought the cartridge separate.
Are you going to change your intro soon? As the rift s is coming out or are you going to change it when the rift 2.0 comes out?
Not sure yet, maybe []-)

I might buy this, as me and my younger brother enjoy building things together, (although it is mainly me building) and I've wanted this for a while now. I believe it is just less than a hundred dollars Canadian for the full set.
For anyone without kids out there and who isn't particularly interested in building things or paying for a Switch or $40 for their cardboard mount: Phone headsets for "Google Cardboard" Apps have existed for quite a while. Originally, that way my introduction to VR, and three years later I got an Oculus Rift.
Using USB tethering apps such as Trinus VR, I played games like Skyrim in VR before "Skyrim VR" even was a thing. These headsets start very cheap from $4 for fairly high quality plastic ones. Trying out VR isn't expensive.
Yes
Have you tried the XTAL yet? I'd really love to see you cover how well it works.
Do you think you could do a video about the oculus rift dk1 and dk2 comparing them to the vr of today and talking about the history of oculus or something? That'd be cool. Thanks.
I think it would be interested that ninendo create a VR with cool gaming experiences.
I got the starter kit a few days ago. I like it, but the blaster is already creasing at the handle where you hold it. I’m trying to go extra easy on it too. :( hoping for a way to reinforce it or somebody 3d prints a new gun. The alien game is sooooo fun!
I bought the basic kit yesterday. It's okay but I'm hoping for more announcements for triple a Nintendo games and hopefully maybe some third party support. No expecting Doom VFR or Skyrim VR. I want Mario kart though, and Virtual boy games. I hope they don't give up after updating botw and Odyssey.
Because of the handles, not sure if I would buy it myself. But I have a 10 year old cousin that I might recommend it to.
They should do something like this for the Quest. It's a very clever idea from Nintendo.
I love this labo so much that I am selling my OLED to buy the first model
The money put into it, value wise, is very expensive, but the experience you get from it makes the cost worth it.
3 years late, but also late to Mario Odyssey, which I just picked up yesterday. I saw the VR option in the menu of the game and had no idea that Nintendo made a VR "headset". I don't like the idea of ah ing to hold this to your face the whole time. Imagine playing Mario Odyssey with all the shake controls and having to shake your head to jump higher or shake to the side to throw your hat in a circle. Also, it's still expensive for just cardboard, 3 years later. Nintendo is definitely the Apple of the gaming world.
How good of an experience is it if you just have the starter kit?
I'm a Rifter, might buy for my boys they have a Switch.
how does it use 6-dof without any built in sensors like on the quest or any external sensors like the oculus rift??
Imagine them adding beat saber as a free game but you need a new vr kit with a headstrap to play it
IMAGINE Pokemon snap with LABO CAMERA!!! EPIC!!!!
Flying though rings, my favorite pastime! Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. *superman 64 flashback + sarcasm*
In the camera segment, you had the right joy con inserted incorrectly
Yo mike you should’ve tried the robot vr game! It’s definitely the best out of all of them
Version 2 will be called Nintendo Labia
Hey does anyone know what the T piece and the long antenna piece go to from the LightBulb A sheet?
I’m thinking about it but I’m sticking with my rift
I wish they would make a sequel to the vr kit, kaybe with a bow or a steering wheel?
Basically it’s a much better google cardboard for the quest?
Just a dream, but imagine beat saber on switch.
Console can probably handle it the game but which controllers would you use though? Joy-cons have gyro but I don't think that is enough for tracking.
Yeah I wish they added games in the eshop for nintendo labo vr so we can get VR games like Beat Saber or Job Simulator.
@@RNerd you need an external sensor to track the joycons in 3d space. The joycons only have gyro for wrist motion, not for arm motion
@@meganutHUGE Ok thanks I understand now
@@RNerd happy to help :)
did you try the level editor?
Should i buy the elephant kit, blaster kit or the non vr robot kit
When you say they sold 1.4 million Labo kits to-date, is that for all three kits before this, total? Because that actually sounds like really low sales :(
Who here thinks that mobile VR has an opportunity for success? I think there's huge potential, to be honest
I used to but honestly it’s hyped up way too much. Mobile VR is very limited and it’s highly unlikely to be a platform for quality experiences and games. Most VR games atm are gimmicks and not well made.
When I do get a Nintendo switch when I have the chance then I would at least give the labo a try.
I still have my Virtual Boy.
Nice! I’ve been searching for one for a while on eBay []-)
Well this kit is for kids so I makes sense that it was easy for you to beat the frog game
Hey Mike. Why are you messing around with cardboard VR when you could get yourself a virtual boy for the real Nintendo VR experience?
did you review the robot kit
Cud do so much more with it i love zelda vr but that it so far
There's a robot one too
The fact that Nintendo sold literal cardboard for 80$+ and people still bought it boggles my mind.
same
they should make minecraft vr on switch where the joycons are the motion control in your hands and a headset is strapped to you
Can we get pkmn snap for nintendo labo camera
Bruh, how did you get game footage though?
Wish they did a plastic/metal version so it doesn’t break so easily
I wish I can buy the camera on its own.
Kids are the one VR need to sensitize for VR to become main stream.
Inside the cocoon of family they discover VR with their parent and so engrave VR deep into our child's.
We understand more why, the 7+ age early accessibility Nintendo went for.
