VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 4. 12. 2021
- Headed down to Port St Joe, Florida for 3-days of crabbing and camping on the C-Dory 22 Cruiser. Made one pretty significant mistake but still caught some crabs and had a great adventure!

Always enjoy your videos, a terrible fisherman and cook, but you make it up with your commentary, a few good laughs and adventures.. Get you some!!!
Haha thanks Marko!
đ thatâs hilarious
I love that you didnât edit out the crab trap fail. Most guys would have. Love the boat. Itâs a dream of mine to own one similar. Keep safe!
Oh yea, that's the good stuff! Hope you get yourself one down the road đ€
Man I love the boat! That's something like I want. đ great video as always buddy
You did awesome for your first time
Great video I think one of the best C doryâs videos
Trip, great job on the video. Love your little mini yacht and your other boat adventures, you keep my attention for sure. I really like that that you have incorporated fishing and crabbing into your videos. You should talk with the fishing locals around your area and see what baits they use. We live on the coast in Texas and use alot of Gulp artificial baits, they are great for redfish, trout and flounder. Keep up the fantastic adventures đ
Fun video. 2 hopefully helpful tips. 1. Ziptie rebar in the bottom of the traps to keep them from flipping. 2. 24 hrs might be to long. Once the eat, they leave. 2 to 4 hrs works well for us.
Thanks for the video. I would love to have that boat.
I also have a C Dory in Florida, so your channel is my inspiration. Thanks so much!
My next adventure is diving from the boat on the reefs of Pennekamp park in the keys!
Oh how cool! You are welcome. I hope to get down there this year as well. Enjoy your adventure!
First time viewer, love your attitude and sense of humor. Keep up the great work!
Hey Shawn, welcome to the channel! Glad you enjoy the content. Lots of good stuff to look back on and enjoy đđđ
The Stalekracker reference was well placed. When you started cooking the sausage I could hear his voice immediately in my head. Great video as always Trip!
Yea buddy! Glad you enjoyed it Devito ;)
Trip always puts out good Entertaining content
I try Chuck! Thanks bud.
Those blue crab make awesome bait for fish too, with that current maybe a 1oz egg weight, about 2 foot of leader and a 2-4ot circle hook, youâd probably get a good sized redfish. Cut lady fish also make great bait. Another awesome video trip, love the fishing a crabbing content!
I value to crabto much to use them as bait. The lady fish though would be good bait. I just figured I'd have caught more so I threw that one back.... Glad you enjoy it Adam!
One of my top 2 places in the world. Worth the 700 mile drive Everytime we do it. Great video! Would love to see more fishing.
Oh awesome Marty! Yes, it's a awesome area. More fishing coming your way ;)
Fun video. I put out stone crab traps in Apalachee Bay and got quite a few but it was hard work. Sure do enjoy your trips.
Oh that's cool! WOuld love to catch a few of those!
Thatâs my home water. Moved up here about 8 months ago, from Islamorada in the keys. That canal that that bridge goes over hets a pretty good current flow when the tide runs. Iâd always put some weight in the traps.
Hey trip, I loved watching you fish and I think you would love it since you can catch your own food while your out on your trips
Glad you enjoyed it. Oh yea, I'd definitely love to be able to catch my dinner each night..... One day!
Trip love all your videos! glad your doing it full time now. Curious what equipment your using to make your videos?
Hey Trip, here's an idea for an upcoming adventure. I think a cool video that might have some different elements that your viewers love you for might be this (at least I would love to see...):: I think you take the C-Dory out with the blackfin strapped to the roof. Cruise over to some kind of backwater area and stay the night on the boat, but then the next morning take the board out (or yak) and trek to another area not reachable with the C-Dory and stay the night there. Next day get back to the C-Dory and head home... Or longer đ. I think this will scratch the itch some of us want to see, but will also keep the main attraction in play as well!.... I mean, we all know you are the main attraction, but the C-Dory is pretty damn cool to see.
Just food for thought. Your advice on your camping trips is always so good and inspiring. Take care bud!
Now if you loaded up the traps with crab to catch some chicken, I'd be interested.
I've been dreaming about one of those for years !
Hey Trip thanks for all the videos!! It's fun to watch your adventures unfold and your never ending enthusiasm for "getting out there"
I have a curious question for you, have you ever been boarded by the Coast Guard while out on the water?
Like all the content, keep it coming!!!
Nick in Alaska
Your videos always make me wish I lived down there so I could get a boat and do fun stuff.
You should try sleeping in the forward berth on cooler night. It might retain heat more.
Glad you enjoyed them Jackson! Yea.... I might give it a try if it gets real cold. The cabin isn't to bad, it's mainly when you go out in the wind or get out from under your insulation.
Great entertaining video and first time watcher. Would love to se that C Dory in the Keys catching red snapper.........All of us have made mistakes like the traps not closed. I once forgot to insert the plugs in my 18ft Polar. Thankfully I was in the Mosquito Lagoon and close to an island. A little extra bailing and we were catching red drum.......TFS
Hey glad you enjoyed it George and glad you found the channel bud! You and me both, hopefully 2022 will be my year to get down there.... Lol That's great!!!
Looks like it was a good time!
Always!!!!
Dude!!!!; Sooooo sorry to hear about your beloved CDory!
We go to the same outfitters when we stay at Cape San Blas. Done some fishing there in they bay and we caught lot of trout.
Oh cool! Its a great area....
Good video, Trip. Lady fish- also good cut bait for your crab pot ;-)
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the tip!
All those canned sardines, clams and squids: all in one sleeping bag! Tough way to warm yourself. Iâd have gotten up early too.
Never knew abt this channel until now when he said where he was I was like oh damn I done a huge smoky burn out at that boat ramp
Haha! Glad you found the channel!
Sir we love ur channel !!!! Could u tell me the tow weight of ur C-Dory ???? Thank You
I wish i could get these boats down here in Australia, this is the perfect boat for me. America, it's got the best of everything. btw you should have some protein with that meal
That guy who tried to bribe you to do a âTrip Dipâ is my little brother. He definitely would have paid up and gotten the tattoo. We both love your channel!
Damn I wish I could be as free and not meaning time because you seem like a hell of a busy man but free in nature! Seems so damn peaceful
Yes, I am a busy man for sure. Just try to live as free as I can!
Now you know the weights in the crab traps will anchor the traps and you wouldn't have to worry that they move a quarter mile from where you dropped them! Keep on keeping on!
Yea, I figured I needed it.... Will keep creating for ya!
Hey , Trip . Did you ever make it back to explore Kelly Creek off the Choctawhatchee ?
I did not.... Would you mind refreshing my memory?
Great video. But. In the state of FL you have tho have a crab license.,( which is free), a tag on your crab trap( with you name and address), and a capital R( for recreational use)just FYI.
Got the crab license today ;) Will have the R on the float and tagged traps next time. Thanks for looking out for me!
@@TripSmith Your welcome brother. Just wanted you to be legal.đ
You need to get a depth finder/ fish finder. I just got a Humminbird Helix 7 down and side imaging. That thing is great and really shows what is around your boat. The Humminbird Helix series is great and they are made in Alabama.!
Agreed.... I'd like to get a Helix.... Maybe I'll have one in the near future.
I like the adventure, have a C-Dory by me thatâs for sale, but I have a big boat already, lol.
Trip try to weigh down 2 of the 4 corners of the traps, just pvc pipe 2 end caps, and sand. Also lead core line. I have a video on my channel on setting up crab traps.
Glad you enjoy them! Yea I should weight them for sure... I like the PVC idea...
Hay trip, it must be comforting to sleep in a cabin for a change. Everything is enclosed. Nice....
Hey it sure is!!!! Like a condo on the water ;)
you got 6 likes before the video even was released. lol so I made it 7 I know its going to be great can't wait.
Heck yea, thanks Rob!!!
That lady fish is good cut bait for fishing, wish you luck brother..
Thanks Austin!!!
Trip, you stick out your thumb and pinkie, lay the end across your palm, and figure eight wrap around those fingers, toss a slippery half hitch on the bundle, never tangle. enjoy
gotcha, thanks for the suggestion. If I remember it next time I'll give it a try ;)
Didnât know how miserable my life was until I started watching your C-Dory videos. Thanks for ruining my otherwise happy life.
Sriracha on that squid is a game changer!
Sounds good...
Weâre u in Florida waters? Because Iâve read about crab pots and how u have to letter your floats and such. When I reviewed it, it was cheaper to buy crabs than pay the fine. Which is also my catch and release guideline for fish.
Yes I was, thought I was good with info on the floats. Apparently that wasn't sufficient. I'm now up to speed on the regulations and will be set next time ;)
Learn to use your anchor alarm. You'll sleep better and if your anchor drags you'll know it. Not have a basic depth sounder is not good. Buy the best black and white you can find from Hummingbird. It's all you'll need
Ah, I'm a power nut to much to use an anchor alarm. I just have a good anchor system ;) Lol You are right, I should have a depth finder and hopefully will soon.
Used to get a lot of Crabs using cat food up in Delaware
That would be pretty easy to try there!
@@TripSmith find a ton of them in narrow channels with tall grass and tall reeds. The paddle board could get you into some prime places.
What program are you using to edit your videos. I've been using premiere elements, which does an okay job. Your interface looked much nicer.
I use Davinci Resolve. It's free and very powerful.
@@TripSmith I've been checking it out this morning. Very cool stuff. I'm downloading and installing now. Gotta check it out, thanks for the response.
Try using a brick or cinder block to weight down the traps. Won't drift as much
Yea I certainly need to next time.
Brother, you put together some legendary adventures! Iâm super jealous watching this from Ohio. Always love your enthusiasm.
I try! Glad you enjoy watching bud.
i m not sure but i think your supposed to mark your buoy with an "R" for recreation and your name with a telephone number check before
the fish and wildlife get ya,good luck
I don't remember the R but you may be right. I did have my name on them, just didnt have a sharpie so it was hard to see on camera.
You should try dropping the crab pots in a grass flat next time
Thanks for the suggestion, I need some! lol
đŠ
You need to go back into mangrove forest and look for the deepest holes to set your crab traps in
Ah gotcha. Thanks for the tip there Mike.
Hey, a bad day of crabbing is still better than a good day at work
I think them folks of deadliest catch may beg to differ đ€Ł
Agreed Todd!!!!
BTDT... next time try the ladyfish as crab bait. Actually, I'd have fished with one... 5 crabs is enough to make some more gumbo! I've never fried crab meat but I'd give it a try! add some of that slap your mama seasoning! Actually crab omelettes are pretty good!
I eat crab omelets quite often (imitation....) I should have tossed the fish in the trap... You're totally right!
Yes please fish more
Gotcha some more coming bud ;)
North Florida local as well how fast don't that 115 Yamaha push that boat? I was looking at putting a 115 on a boat smaller to han yours that's also aluminum so I'm curious
Low 40's which is plenty fast for a boat like that. Those boats need less power than others in the same size range due to their flat bottom hull design. They are really efficient through the water.
@@TripSmith it's a vhull
Mine or yours? I know mine is a flat bottom đđŒ
@@TripSmith oh mines of e-bottom I didn't know those seadories had a flat bottom on them we should do a collab to help grow my channel I bet your followers wouldn't enjoy that I'm over here in Tallahassee Florida if you ever want to help out a small growing CZcamsr let me know
I don't see any micro skiff adventures? Before we Collab, let's see some consistent content đđŒ
I think your supposed to have an R wrote on your white Bouy to indicate its for recreational fishing.
You are.... Learned that today and will be prepared next time ;)
So do u have a regulation gauge for those crabs ?
I guess I need to.....
Florida has recently changed its rules on crab traps, so check ââem out. You will need a gauge, and tags and an R on the float. But next time youâll have all that!
I love your plate! Please post the name of it!!
Here ya go Margo! amzn.to/332eUQC They are awesome, I've been using that same one for years....
I use them, too, so easy and heat resistant! Also a bowl and cup in the set.
I have an Aderondack guide boat that I am putting an expand a craft outrigger kit on and I have an e propulsion spirit 1.0 with 3 batteries 1100 bucks. Pop. I have a jackery 1500 and 400 watts I'm putting on the roof. Iive in Dunnellon Florida, about a half hour from crystal river,
If you still want to shoot that film.i can take you on my boat.
How do you connect your bluetti to distro panel?
With the 12v cigarette lighter plug going to a fuse block
@@TripSmith So it just draws power from the bluetti via the 12v socket to the switch panel? I thought that would make a load not a charge? but maybe I am misunderstanding?
@@snakeplisken4278 Correct it creates a load so I do not use my boat batteries. Trying to avoid not being able to crank the boat. When I'm stopped, all of the accessories on the boat are powered by the power bank.
@@TripSmith Very cool. Already have a Bluetti and 200W solar lol, now I just need a C-dory 22 lol!
More fishing vote. Cheers
I hear ya bud, got some more coming your way ;) Cheers
No Conecuh? Sacrilege! :-)
What on earth is a lard bar
Lol Lara Bar ;) My accent gets me sometimes.
Put some weight in your traps and get you some stronger rope. I like the crabbing and the fishing. Enjoying your videos bud!!
Thanks Brandon! WIll do!
6 legs in each trap...Yikes! That could feed you for 3 days....lol
Yea it sure could. Reckon I don't need that much? lol
Trip, I'm going to drastically improve your fishing life...get a 5-7ft throw net..Don't need a large one. This size is super easy to cast and keep it in a little 3 gallon bucket because I know u like a clean boat. Ease over to the bank and marsh for a few minutes and get u something alive to cast out. You'll be fine dining daily. Peace
I actually had a cast net aboard.... I haven't tried finding live bait yet but probably should huh? THanks for the suggestion!
Crabs are eating your b'fast sausage.
you should get bay scallops and eat those
Oh yea, I love doing that. I have a few videos on it. When the season rolls back around I'll be getting some ;)
đđđđșđž
Yea buddy!
I know you eat well and eat healthy but Im sorry I think I would have to starve lol the salmon would be fine though or steam up the crabs .
Trip.....clean WHILE YOUR FISHING
Clean the boat while I'm fishing? Thought I did?
I canât believe you do all that boating and donât have a depth finder
Crazy aint it?
Thatâs why god created nautical charts.
Haha, I hear ya Joe!
It is possible someone checked your traps and stole the crabs. Iâve seen it before sadly.
It's possible.... But surely not.... I hope not at least!
B
Hey Gary!
Hope didnât drop on somebodyâs site
Boy you need to be wearin some slicks and get your hands dirty.
Slicks aye? What are those? Them rubber boots? Or some bibs?
been noticing you are still calling your boat the c-dory. Have you come up with a special name for her?
Every boat needs a special name from its owner if you really love em!
Haven't settle on one yet.... I kinda like Myott personally.... I should go ahead and name her!
Dude
Dude!!!!!
Remember to throw the jennies back... the female crabs.
You would have caught a lot more if your pots would have been waited
Waited? LOL!!!
Agreed Mike.... Next time!!! lol
How are you out there with all those fish and you eating that canned stuff ? Yuckkkkkkk
Cause I can't catch the fish lol
@@TripSmith lol come on man. Buy some white shrimp gulp and youâll be able to catch. Itâs fool proof! Just bounce it on the bottom.
those are female blue crab just a pro tip you wont find a mature female blue crab that's undersize no matter what the points will touch
Your marker balls are illegal, the fine will be hefty if you don't get them right.
They had my name on them and phone number. Just tried to keep them out of the camera and they weren't written with a sharpie like they will be next time ;)
@@TripSmith Don't you have to put a large "R" on them for "Recreational" fisherman? I wasn't referencing your name an address.
Less talk and more fishing would be nice !!
