Isn't Bossa, is actually samba. To be more especific afrosamba, close to Partido Alto (a style of samba with sounds from Afro-Brazilian religions).
I have been a bossa/samba fan for 40 years, phasing between periods of lighter and heavier listening. I have to tell you, discovering this channel and listening to every one of your recordings has rekindled my love for the genre. I’m all-in right now. Everything about what you do is fantastic-the pure vocals, the arrangements, the musicianship-all just so good.
This is my favorite song of the genre. I never really liked performances of Ossanha without backing vocals, probably because of the first Powell-Moraes recording. I always thought it needed the layers and the contrast between the singer’s voice in the verses against the soaring vocals in the chorus. That is, until now. Laura delivers this song so well and passionately, and the band handles the build-up from intro to end so expertly, that I forgot about all that. I love this version more every time I listen to it. If you understand Moraes’ spiritual underpinnings to the song, you know Laura does it justice.
Thank you for presenting bossa nova this way and making 60 year old songs sound so fresh and beautiful. I know musicians’ projects come and go, but I hope you all continuing playing this great music together for many years to come. Sarava!

That was surprising. I’ve been listening intently to Bossa Nova for almost 55 years. Yes, I started young at age 10. I can’t recall ever hearing this genre sung with such passion. I hope it works out.
Ha! Yeah we usually stay more mellow ..But we do have a few songs that feels great with a little extra passion ;) Might not be for everyone, but we just feel it and see what happens instead of trying to copy older versions

I use to listen to Samba Jazz and Bossa Nova since 1987. Normally I don’t listen to contemporary artists but NOVA is different.
The magic in her voice is soul touching. Her voice is inspiring. herr band is great. Every single musician knowd exactly what he is doing. Even the Mastering and recording are great.
This happens when special people come together in the right spirit at the right time.
