I don't shoot a lot of slow motion footage. But, seeing that the ZV-E1 only gets a 10% crop in 120 makes it even easier decision to pick it up. Plus, that low light power. A very powerful camera for the price.

fairly new subscriber here, loving your content and focus on the zv-e1! would love to see how you shoot with it out on location, maybe a demo low light shoot or ssomething, or interview shoot going through all aspects needed i.e. auto eye af etc.. nice work!

Hi Sean,
Thanks for the video. Just downloaded the 4k120 and added the Black Hive Fan from Aliexpress. Will see how much longer I can shoot with the active cooling fan on. It's nice that they give you some velcro to attach the fan and once you charge it, you don't need to be plugged into power. Just not sure how long it can run without power. But if you were connected with power, it can still run.
Had the Tilta fan for the Canon R5 and it gave me double the run time but had to hook up to power and it was attached to a base plate that swivels up onto the LCD panel but if you closed the LCD screen, it has enough room to sit on top of the LCD screen. They're coming out with a fan for the ZV-E1 soon and may also get it if my run time doubles. The Black Hive is much quieter but not as strong. Both are active cooling fans.

Good point about all cameras. I’ve found that Sony tends to have different workflows at times depending on the model though.

did the update improve the 4K 24p overheating, can you test it please?
the firmware installed correctly and i can see the licence in my settings, however i still don't have the option to shoot 120 even with a v60 memory card??? please can someone help, there is nothing on the sony website and no youtube videos i can find that has a fix

I put the file in the general, in the m4root and in the lut. And nothing happen. Im not understand. And yes the name of the file was correct, when i download it. But in the but in the documenti, the name of the file was: RQ_LIC. can you help me?
I just did the upload to version 1.02 and I'm not seeing 120P option....
Hey sean, I was trying to update my zv to 4k120 and the camera cant seem to recognize the file. Ive formatted it and placed the file in various locations in the SD card but still it cant seem to recognize it. Serial number was also entered correctly matching the number on the bottom of the camera and along with the serial number thats displayed in the settings.
Yikes, it sounds like you're doing everything right from my perspective. Might need to hit Sony up?
@@seandewispelaere It wont even recognize a software updated SMH. And I did bro and they're saying I've got to send it in for service LMAO I just got it in December which is quite disappointing. However, my experience with it has been amazing. Such a great damn camera, packs such a big punch. Overheating who? HAHA
how can i play back? the video format is unsupported in all of my software
Try the XACV-S codec - assuming that you were in XAVC-HS?
Can you do a video next on how to access the 240p HD mode? all I know is that it has something to do with S&Q mode but I haven't really come across it in there so far

@@seandewispelaere only trouble now.. is editing the 10bit 422 mp4 files on my mac with the free Davinci.. i didn't know about that.. I'm used to Z cam's .mov files that work fine.. apparently i gotta do these extra steps to change the codec.. until i get around to buying the legit Davinci..
What are your thoughts on using this as a sports camera ????

My camera froze a few times and I had to pull the battery. Does that happen with the other sony cameras?

Ppl don't understand @120 really only use it for short bursts, if recording longer switch to 4k@60 that's still a nice slow down vid. Too much 120 being used will put ppl to zzzzzzzzzz lol. Thanx Sean nice vlog bro 👊🏼

whats the bitrate on xavc- intra? also does the crop factor change there?
It doesn't offer all intra 4k 120 unfortunately. The best you'll get there is 60p a6 600M in 4:2:2 10-bit
No crop on that and the 4k 120 crop in HS or S is 10% with a 280M bitrate in 4:2:2 10-bit

Yea...that's a tough pill to swallow, BUT I do think that the a7iv's 1080 120 is incredibly sharp

@@seandewispelaere yeah,, i tried it a bunch of times.. BUT,, on my last attempt,, I decided to use a dedicated Sandisk card reader.. ( i have a Sandisk 128gb v90 card) and it worked.. At first, I was trying to do it through the port on my actual iMac and it wasn't taking.. All set now! false alarm lol,,, thank you for your quick reply.., i appreciate how much you're there to help Sean
