- A friend was filming around Far Gosford Street / Gosford Green in the early evening just after the Sky Blues lifted the FA Cup. He was filming to record scenes of the area before the building of 'Sky Blue Way' and not to capture the celebrating fans. It's a fascinating slice of history that captures some of the jubilation in the city on that historic day.

Amazing video it was such a magical day for my home town of Coventry, everybody came to together to celebrate, such fond memories which seems such a long time ago now
I would have been on my way home from Wembley as a 17 yr old with my late father, happy memories , used to love going through all the back entries and then across pork chop hill as a kid to Highfield rd too. PUSB
Covs greatest moment and the Camera concentrates on a dog having a shit!
Whilst he was filming that I would have been walking home down Red Lane and along Ball Hill, ie. just up the Walsgrave Road (the road running alongside of the park).
I was there again the next day with tens of thousands of others to welcome our "journeyman team" back to the city that they made feel significant and important again.
Great bit of footage... captures the atmosphere like only video can. And the footage of Far Gosford Street is fascinating.

This is when Coventry had factories and the football team had a stadium to call there own. All those classic cars, who would have thought it.

By chance i was in Cov and this neck of the woods on Thursday. i used to live on Grantham St when a student - for two terms. I was researching what led to Blue Sky Way. Now i know! Next time pick up Charlie's crap please!!
@bridesheadrev I suspect he has loads of footage of Coventry hidden away on tape though much of it is probably related to the railways.

Wrong. In the eighties Coventry was full of Irish and west Indian folk as well as many many Asians.
Difference is, mostly we all just rubbed along.
