I’ve never gotten into carnivore plants. That display you did is absolutely awesome. Thanks for maybe steering me towards something new
Try getting a Monkeys Cup plant.
You should! There is such a large variety and many are not hard at all to care for!
I love sundews. 💖 I'm lucky to live in a hotspot for carnivorous plants (west Australia). I'd love to see more projects like this.
Wow im jealous! do you ever go hiking to find them?
@@TechplantChannel yes! You can find them on bush walks and if you travel a few hours South (I'm in Perth), you can do tours to find Nepenthes & a wide range of native plants! I really need to do that. Obviously you can't (read: absolutely shouldn't) take plants from the wild (but unfortunately people do & have actually put the Albany pitcher plant at risk 😔) - but we do have local growers who offer a wide range to buy. All ethically sourced/propagated. 😊 I definitely want to try this project now.
@@bethlovesthings I believe you're referring to cephalotus! Unfortunate that they get picked off in the wild when that variety can be found readily from nurseries.
An aquarium tank also works great for making a bog, as long as you leave it with a mesh lid or no lid. I have a ten gallon sphagnum bog tank myself and it works great, the bottom inch of the tank is filled with gravel and I keep the water level all the way up to the top of the gravel so the sphagnum can wick it right up. The sphagnum grows so fast it swallowed up all my plants and I have to trim it back regularly now.
Trying to grow some pitchers in 80-100% humidity should I still keep the lid off? I am in the Mojave Desert!
Cool idea. My pitcher plant will enjoy that when I bring it in for the winter.
Nice!
I am behind on videos, been busy packing for a large move, but I love how you use what you have and then ask, what if?! Your experiments are so informative!
Thanks! Good luck on your move! I hope it all goes well
Nice mini bog, I have the same growlight and use it also for my carnivorous plants, mostly for growing plants out of seeds which works quite well. The light is very strong and good working for seeds.
Thanks for the info!
I like it and it's a nice manageable size. You could add a 'ping' for a cute little flower!
I actually just got some pings from a friend!
Get the ping rock kit and use it on the light
Omgggg Carnivore plants are currently my faveeee 😍 I have a chronic fungus nat problem so they help a lot
That's an ingenious idea for this light set up. Looking forward to updates on it.
Thanks!
I love how your Graomogolensis is dark red on the bottom half and green on the uppen
One was light starved lol
Those pitcher plants remind me of the pods in invasion of the body snatchers. Spoooooky.
lol
I LOVE it! That is the perfect little setup to enjoy and use the light for! Looks great! Hope it thrives.
I hope so too!
Oh my gosh! This is SO cool!! I absolutely love the strange and unusual of the natural world! Carnivorous plants fascinate me but I've never had good luck with them. I want to find one of these lights and give it a go!! Can't wait to see an update video!
Thanks for watching! lots of carnivorous plants need some pretty high light to grow well! so good luck if you try again!
would love to see your updated list of carnivorous plants!!
Will do!
I never knew what these were actually called, the store just called them octopus plants but I just pulled mine out from my grow-lights 2 days ago as they began browning even with ample water. It may be due to the length of time I kept the lights on for for them but not entirely sure tbh. Can’t wait to see how yours turn out, hopefully you can tell me where mine went wrong. 🙏🏽
Backstory: I started with one plant about 3 or 4 years ago, our window faces North and it’s has multiplied to now 9 plants and we’ve just kept them in 3” pots spread out into three of them. Each pot has tall stems of flowers. • for the scenario above I only put one of the three pots under the grow light.
Octopus plant? The nursery needs to do its research and label the plants properly.
There are tons of diff ones and they are all so beautiful, alot of times nurseries try and use "fun names" to tempt people i guess
I Love sundews, thank you for the inspiration! A fun easy project . Some Lava rocks in there would look great
Totally! I gotta pick up some lava rock!
I love it. I am a Serpa fan too. I would love to see that kinda of content.
Awesome I have some more coming up!
it came out great! I saw some carnivorous plants in the shop today but didn't buy them cause idk where to get distilled water.. this feels like a sign to go back and get them👀
Rainwater works too! Just get a rainbarrel or put a bucket outside!
you can get gallon jugs from the grocery store, or if you wanna invest into an RO system you can get water from that as well. And rain water like Gosse mentioned.
Hi, love your videos so much! Are you having good luck with the grow light after all this time?
I havent used it in a while but it worked well when i was using it
Matt you must have been fun in school!
i was just some nerd who played too much halo on xbox live
Is there an update to this bog? What a great display!
A ping rock kit would pair perfect with this!
I REALLY NEED TO GET SOME LAVA ROCK AND PINGS they look so nice
@@TechplantChannel I ordered a ping rock kit and already have the light
Super neat idea. I hope it does well for you 😁
Thank you! 😊
Looks great. I'm curious if it will last. Please give us an update in a few months. Thanks for sharing 😁
Will do! it was doing great for the last week or two, but i did let it dry out pretty bad recently. I think i need to keep this in a more humid place or somewhere I can keep a better eye on it
I’m going to try this
Damn. That looks so good.
Thanks!
This is so so cool i love it. I am going to have to do this. 🌿
good luck!
I’m using mine as a watering tray for my traps right now
It looks great!
Thanks!
That look really cool
Thank you!
New sundews planted: "Come to us little fungal gnats. Come you little morsels! MWA, HA, HA, HA!!!"
lol
Awesome Video, has inspired a few ideas for my own home !
Fantastic dude!!!
Thanks!
That looks amazing I love them
What are you guys gonna do in winter?
Now that is cool
Thanks
Oh gosh i'd love to do something like this with mine! I hate having to change the water on mine so much, it smells like it's rotting :( and then the water looks so oily so fast. this seems so gorgeous instead
interesting, mine never seems to smell, what is your substrate made up of?
@@TechplantChannel oh nuts, I bought them off someone so I'm not sure myself. 😅 i think I'll try out the substrate you've got!
3:19 some ASMR moments with headphones 😂 (I also like the actual video)
dangit lol, i flubbed the audio channels on that one
would love to see updates on this! :)
like a fool i let it dry out, the resouvier is shallow so. if you dont pay close attention it can go dry quick. during my transition from basic area to full on grow room it dided
I’d implement a auto water system to prevent it from drying out
I was clicking around on your links to find the light/tray you're using in this video but.... she's not there. 😥
That looks great - how damp do you keep the moss?
wet, i try and make sure there is water in the bottom too
Do you have a Venus fly trap or carnivorous plants for beginners video?
No but thats a good video to make, I do have a basic care video though
Ok so, yes please to carnivorous plants, n do you know any good led grow lights available in Europe?? Thanks a bunch! 😊
Gosh, it looks so pretty! My U. Longifolia kept dying(in a sphagnum+perlite mix). So i changed it to Indonesian variety of sphagnum(thinner, yet the same length), and it's thriving! I'm searching how to grow sphagnum moss because my bladderwort grew out of the pot and i found this video! Btw is it true that sarracenias are easier than venus flytraps?
I think they are all about the same in my opinion
Remember, advise that you not mist directly the Sundews.
what specific growlight is this?
How do you grow new sphagnum moss? I love it .awesome tool for so many plants.
Love it
The lights weren’t good long term for my dews. They worked for some pings that don’t need a ton of light tho
Was that light strong enough to produce dew?
Yeah it worked but ultimately I let the whole thing go bone dry....
@@TechplantChannel try one with pings
💘 it!
If you had more you could stack them
Any update on how they did with thr from light ?
How is this doing? I like the idea of it, I want to try growing some live sphagnum moss.
I got busy and let it dry out..... sad
@@TechplantChannel life happens, where did you end up finding live sphagnum moss?
How deep/big Is the plastic tub?
Very interesting… what is the name/brand of the equipment you’re using?
Just curious where you started with the sundew plants originally? Was it from seed, or did you just buy a plant? It seems like they’re hard to find where I live!
i found a guy on facebook who i bought a bunch from!
@@TechplantChannel Thanks for the response! Looks like I’ll be checking our marketplace.
What kind of water do you use for these plants? Im stuck using distilled but it would be nice to try something new
I use distilled as well, you can use rain water
@@TechplantChannel thank you!
los subtitulos estan mal salen en vietnamita?
???
How did these grow in there?
I let em dry out on accident
@@TechplantChannel OH NO!
I may do the same but find a way to make the bowl deeper
Next time try pinguiculas. Might be more successful
You should do an overhaul to all your carnivores..... pruning, repotting, collection rehab video 😲
Honestly i really need to! they are all messed up
Es una pena que los subtítulos estén en Vietnamita
????
I was here for the recipe 🥺
Ah yes auto generated subtitles vietnamese
