I am happy the video helped! Painting and weathering is the best part of modeling for me...always love seeing the end result and of course it is fun! I am not trying to plug my videos, but if you look at my YT page, there is one for Washes and filters. It is a little quick and dirty how-to for acrylics. Also, all this stuff...paints and washes can be mixed with pigments to create more depth and textures. Never stop playing around with combinations!

I appreciate the use of the Vallejo OD kit in this. I had seen it at Hobby Lobby (can you say 40% off) and had not purchased it yet. Now that I've seen this and know that Battlefront is coming out with US stats for the Desert, I may run over there tomorrow and pick it up!

+Celicalover231 You're welcome! Yes, you should have a pink-ish color...the tone will of course vary depending on how much Buff is added. Sounds like you might be working on some red oxide coloring.....very nice!! You can also thin the mix and use it as a filter and wash too. If you have a darker section and only want to adjust coloring on an edge or around an object, washes can be a more direct approach versus airbrushing the entire panel. You can thin the paints with just water too for this application. With airbrushing, I suggest staying with the airbrush thinner as the ix will be ore consistent for spraying.

Yes, if you take any of the paints and dilute around 50% (more or less depending on your liking) to create washes. Filter around an 80% to 90% dilution for filters. Again, this is to personal liking. I love the Dunkelgrau set! There are two colors that are 1/4 tones apart. I tend to use only three colors when using the set....the darkest, one of the medium tones and the highlight. You can mix them to to darken or lighten the colors.
All I can really use are the Vallejo and similar products. I wont get into it but these are in no way carcinogenic. And guys like me are grateful that talented modellers take the time to make tutorials. I have a friend who tubes and Patrions. Its a huge commitment. -Roger

Painting, for me is the best part of most projects...so most of this is more fun than work!! :) You touched on one of the best things about the Vallejo Acrylic...they are not harmful to the lungs and kidneys! Biggest issue folks have with switching over is just being able to change somewhat, how they paint. I hope to have more videos soon! Unfortunately, things need ot get made before they get painted...LOL!!!! Thanks again!!
Hello Awesome video! I have a question, if you apply decals on the model, do you recommend to protect them with a layer of varnish? If yes is it better to use a satin or mat varnish? And when to do it, at which step of this afv weathering system? Thank you
