Glad to see my own fan game has made this list. Thank you very much and Iâm glad you really liked it. In addition to having all the characters and stages and stuff, you can also unlock Amy Rose and Cream the Rabbit for 100%ing the current demo.
I have not worked on the game in a long time as I have my own original project in the works for some time now. I have wanted to finish the game and even considered remaking it, but for now itâs on basically an indefinite hiatus. Thanks very much tho.

I think Sonic Color Curse actually might be based on an older Sonic 1 ROM hack called Sonic Color Contrast. I've know about that fangame for a while, and it's really cool to see a sorta remake/throwback to it!

I know you don't like to talk about controversy regarding games but I like to share what happened with Project Hero.
So there was a lot of hype from a few Sonic CZcamsrs who saw Project Hero and thought that this is what 3D non-boost Sonic should play and feel like. But then the design changes got leaked and a lot of Twitter users gave it a lot of crap for the changes and believed it was no longer an Adventure fan game but rather a 3D Classic game which felt like a betrayal to some of those users.
The reasoning for that criticism might be for not having a lot of 3D non-boost games that have potential to be an Adventure fan successor while there's a lot of Classic fan projects, especially 3D ones such as Robo Blast 2, which may be oversaturating the fangame community. This may have taken a toll on Hero's health which caused them to put it on hiatus.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's a subtle way of saying it's cancelled which is a shame because it now seems like wasted potential and was looking forward for it to used like the Infinity Engine for boost fangames.

I wanna see a lot of fan remakes of official sonic games like sonic 3 air or sonic P06! that would make my day since I hardly find sonic games re-released in any way, official games or fan games/projects

Sonic world adventure is itâs based off sonic unleashed but itâs in Roblox sadly and itâs in hyenas the fan game. Itâs really sad to hear though itâs really good.
You should try sonic.exe spirits of hell 1 & 2 it has actual good story, boss fights and levels and it even gives you the choice of who survives or not
should probably be a separate video altogether, Sonic.exe fangames are a different type of beast, they are not afraid of getting all gory and dark

You are gonna wanna search for a program called AntiMicroX, it allows you to connect about any controller and bind your keyboard controls to it! That's how I play all my games with a USB gamecube controller!

my gripe(s) about Sonic Illusions is it doesn't support controller use. The jank is present and abundant and I wouldn't consider that something you just learn to get used to, its just undone. Hopefully done soonish, I had to download a third party software to use controller to play and I had fun... until I legitimately couldn't.
Also if you want to play Unleashed plus you could just play the Sonic Unleashed Project. It's a Sonic Generations mod but it feels incredible, actually like the game and... you get two games for one.
I totally understand your gripes with Illusions, though thankfully a lot of that jank isn't in every stage, only in some but this is still in alpha so its important to remember that these issues will most likely get fixed when the next major demo comes out when its out of alpha! Though I also would say on the same vein that I'm quite accustomed to enjoying and forgiving titles with jank, I'm the same dude that considers Sonic 3D Blast one of his favorite sonic games ever lmao xD
Very true, but I wanted to give fan games that where built from the ground up the spotlight in this video, since mods use the pre existing frame work of officially created Sega games, but I do intent to do entire video about rom hacks and mods in the future and ill be sure to include the unleash project there!
(before anyone says anything yes I know I broke this rule in the first video with forces overclocked, that was an exception due to the shear quality and ability to turn an otherwise sub par game into a marvelous experience )

ofc! we have actually been celebrating most of star fox month through streaming this year! We already did several speed runs, played through multiple randomizers and more! today we will actually be finishing star fox adventures amethyst edition which is gonna be awesome! also should clarify that the most recent update on the calamity twitter (march 2024) i announced that it was in a bit of a hiatus as a majority of the dev team has been too busy to work on it and i've been spending time working on my own indie project in the meantime. we still all wanna finish calamity, just haven't exactly had the time for it.

Hey, I really like your video so far, but you should stop saying "one of the best Sonic fan game ever made" out of hand when they're just cancelled demos, they're not even close being the best lmao
Yeah, the video could be amazing but he calls every fan game the best of the best, like if Emerald Ties is one of the best fan games, something like Sonic Robo Blast 2 is the best game ever made. None of those games are bad, but most of them are not great either. He's just overreacting every game.

These are all very fair points and I totally get all of your perspectives on it! Though I would like to throw in my own outlook on everything that you all have discussed!
First I would like to point out the wording I use is different depending on the fan game, I try to use the phrase ( Is one of the top fan games ) for titles that are actually completed and or a good fair length, however I mainly used the phrase ( Could have been / Could very well be, one of the top fan games ever made ) this was to express that these games all had or have amazing potential and with more time and or effort could all be seen with the same respect and admiration that other games like TT16bit or Fallen Star are seen in!
Now aside from that, I for a fact get a little more hyped up in my sonic videos then my other works, that's mainly for two reasons,
1st the good old CZcams algorithm and Sonic Fandom prefer higher energy. normally when I approach a Sonic related topic with a lower tone / lower energy vibe the video doesn't get a lot of engagement and isn't pushed as much.
2nd I honest to god just get really excited talking about this stupid blue dude (aka sonic) and that's never gonna really change lmao.
Because of these factors I get more excited then in other videos I make, however the reactions / opinions are still my own and are not fake and or played up, I honestly do just get super excited talking about Sonic stuff and since CZcams likes that excitement, I play into it!
And finally, on the subject of convincing people on fan games being good when they are not. Trust me that is not my goal, There are tons, and I mean TONS of low effort and or low quality titles that I could have thrown in just for the hell of it, however I wanted to keep this list to a very specific set of standards and I truly believe that all of these demos / games are solid and tons of fun! You also have to keep in mind that most of the devs that make these projects are normally amateurs and or on their own, so to me, its important to remember this when reviewing these titles, if a fan project like Sonic Action was made by an official team from Sega, then yeah Id say the game is mid, but for a small fan project, its got the makings of greatness and that deserves recognition! especially since developing games isnt easy and I sure as hell cant do it lol.
Anywho! everyone is entailed to their own opinions and I doubt my comment will really change your statements and or minds, But I still wanted to just throw in my perspective on everything since well... I am the guy that made the video lmao đ¤Ł, aside from that though I do hope you all have a fantastic day and I appreciate your comments!
â@@Jetter06 It's totally fine, i love this blue rat too. He's actually my favourite fictional character ever created. But to be honest, I love playing Sonic fan games that are as good looking as some of the official Sonic games, and that are long enough (1h is good).
It's true that some fan games can have potential. I saw a previous version of Sonic vs darkness that didn't look good at all. And then, it became a pretty good looking fan game at the end.
You made a good job playing all of these fan games and making a video out of them, and watching this video was pretty fun.
