  • Thanks for watching, I know it's a long video! I hope you find this video helpful, but if you don't just leave me a comment so I can change that. Here are a few time stamps and extra notes I forgot to mention in the video:
    - Download some test footage here: bit.ly/NinjaVTestFootage
    - In my work, I rarely notice the increase in quality provided by the Ninja V. And because the quality difference is so small for me, and I want to save hard-drive space, I only edit / keep the h264 files from the Fuji.
    - Timestamps:
    0:00 - hello
    2:35 - explaining the ninja v
    13:35 - review (spoiler: I recommend it)
14:40 - the fan noise is kind of annoying, but not a big deal to me
18:00 - my solution to the ‘legal’ vs. ‘full’ range signal issue that many have discussed online.

Thanks for the Video John, I'm just getting into photography and I'm currently waiting for my Nikon Z 7 II to arrive hopefully sometime in December, I'm just now hearing about external monitors from watching Nikon reviews, I'm curious as to if the monitor is just good for videos, or whether or not it can be useful for Still Photography as well, either way, I'll likely purchase the Ninja V since I think I can get some use out of it when traveling on vacations.

Thanks for the video. I'm looking to buy one of these for my R5 and would love some advice:
1 does the Ninja screen allow for touch to focus?
2 if no to above, does the camera LCD stay on simultaneously so I can use touch to focus?
3 if no to #2, how do you go about directing focus when it goes wayward as it inevitably does?
These are some deal breaker questions for me before I purchase.

I'd love to see more samples & comparisons of 10-bit 4:2:0 from the X-T3 vs. 10-bit 4:2:2 from the Ninja V. It'd be amazing if you had a few original source files to download somewhere? Especially because 10-bit doesn't really come across on CZcams very well - but it's a really important comparison!

I know it's not related, but which speedbooster do you use for the Sigma 18-35?
Some of the speedboosters are pretty loose. I have the Zhongyi m42 to FX and its somewhat loose on the Fuji mount end. I hate that, because when I'm focusing, the lens moves.
Also how does the AF work? The XT3 has average at best AF for very basic tracking, but I guess it does not work well with a speedbooster?

premiere and fcpx dont have that option to change it to full. you use a full to legalize lut for that, or you use the legalize option in the ninja v that came with the newest firmware update, but in that case luts don]t show corretly when monitoring on the ninja v. gerald undone explains this in his video ''update your ninja v right now''

  • @xavierzander4201
    @xavierzander4201 Před rokem

About the full/limited range issue: full= 0-255, limited= 16-236, what i understand of it, is, that it is a hardware "thing" and an source input setting... set your camera to full range, set recording to full range, when you have miss matched levels, they are shifted 16 = 0 too dark 236 = 255 too bright, you can correct this by hand like is done in this video by color correcting but is not correct, what lies in between (colors) is stretched or shrunken, depending on kind of miss match…. but your final post work will make it limited range, correct me if i am wrong….

    • @johnstamw
