I was active in a couple of sports and they all shared the same philosophy, master the basics. So even as an old fart having watched who knows how many 'basic' level photography videos, I still learn something useful. In Leigh's video I'm kicking myself for not downloading the camera manual to my phone - how smart.

You suggested resetting the camera to the factory settings. I have a S5ii. How does one do this?
I just bought a used S5ii. It worked fine until I took it to a parade. Then the shutter wouldn’t fire. Pulled the battery out and changed the PASM settings with no joy. Put the camera in C1 and it started working. Then the autofocus wouldn’t focus ~ 30% of the time. I changed the f stops and the auto focus modes without success.
This camera has an unbelievable amount of video settings. Most I don’t understand. That is alright as I want to use it for photography. Almost all the how to set up your S5ii videos are about video. Maybe this camera doesn’t do photography.
I’m thinking of trading the S5ii for a camera that works. I’ve never had this happen before.

It's always a pleasure watching your videos. I'm very curious to know what lavalier mic you're using since the audio is quite good. I'm a Lumix S5IIX user myself, and a setting thst I always dial in is my White Balance; you also have an option for White Balance Lock, which is a truly incredible feature for video.
Thanks! I am using a Sony lavalier mic and a Zoom H4n. They're both many years old but still working!
@@LeighAndRaymond Thanks for your reply! I also want to comment on the beautiful rendering of the video; I assume that you're using the Sigma 85mm 1.4 here. I'm very torn between this lens and the Lumix 85mm 1.8. How has focusing been for video with the S5II? Curious to hear your thoughts.
Manual for my S5 was my 1th manual I ever read :D I was 28 years old, btw :D
Reset - ha, I recently bought a used camera off a superstar photographer. I know it really means very little, but...the urge to check out their settings before I wipe it is too much to resist... 🙂
Every well know you tuber is now pushing the Panasonic..but no of them are using it….Seems so Panasonic needs help,to,find some people who will buy this camera😉
Well you're right, they're really pushing it right now. But to be fair, youtubers like Tyler Stalman, Jordan from PetaPixel/DpReview and Patrick Tomasso use them alot and not just for sponsored videos. Also keep in mind that "sponsoring" a video can also just mean that they gave them the camera for free and therefore sponsored the creation of this video
We've been using LUMIX cameras since the S5, which we purchased before we worked with them. It's about time more people get on board because they really are great bodies with such an amazing collection of L Mount lenses! :)
