    Truly wonderful by watching other videos I was only able to know about the immediate causes of the saint Bartholomew but now I can relate.
    By watching the detailed series one can understand why secular statesman like Richelieu were so focused on destroying protestants.
    Keep up the good work

    Thanks for posting the newest installement, this has consistently been a great series from the beginning about a little covered topic. Next up - St.Bartholomew's Day Massacre.

    Great video again. This video shows again that sieges in the Pike and Shot era were a real pain in the ass. Battles in the field could be won but were a lot of times totally meaningless because cities could hold on for months or even years. Especially in densely populated Western Europe

    • @aleksapetrovic6519
      @aleksapetrovic6519 Před 3 lety +2

      Sieges always sucked. Army lives as long as it moves. If army stops, they become restless, mutinous, they starve and worse of all: they get sick. Sieges literally force armies to stop.

    I'm glad I've found this channel! I subbed when I saw all the awesome content on history topics rarely covered on CZcams. I was looking for something other than another Alexander the Great series or the endless channels on World War 2 or other done-to-death topics. I haven't found any channels near this quality on the French Wars of Religion, the wars in Italy and others. I'm definitely letting my history nerd friends know about this channel (BTW, that was a compliment!)

      @@ZillyWhale I love Sandrhoman History! My ancestors were Dutch(I can actually trace my family's name to it's original in 16th century Netherlands) so watching those videos on Dutch history make me wonder what they were doing during those wars with Spain. I really like his production style as well. It stands out from the other similar channels that use maps to explain battles and history (side note: my favorite of those is Epic History's Napoleon series, the production value is just so good)

      @@pikeshotBattles He is probably talking about the Netherlands. When you do your series on the Dutch revolt it would be crucial to show Dutch geography how it was at the time because it explaines it succes. Dutch geography changed a lot due to land reclamation and the map you use is more modern. It doesn't matter much for this french series however although it would make Dutch people very happy ;)

      Basel is on the map where actually Bern is located. Also Bern is entirely missing, which is problematic because it was more important than geneva and basel at the time.
