10 Years of Solstice / Summer Solstice Festival 2012-2021

Today is a very exciting day: it’s the beginning of #SouthAsianHeritageMonth
#SAHM exists in order to commemorate, mark and celebrate South Asian history and culture, and we wanted to do this by sharing with you our 10 year Solstice medley!

Since 2012 we have gathered on the shortest night of the year for the UK’s only all-night music festival dedicated to classical South Asian music. Born out of a lack of opportunities for artists to perform Ragas associated with specific times of day, SAA-uk wanted to give both audiences and musicians a space to surrender to the power of the music and just be.

South Asian Arts-uk (SAA-uk) is a registered charity that was set up in 1997 by Ustad Dharambir Singh MBE to preserve the art of South Asian classical music and dance. The organisation was designed to pass down its love of the South Asian arts to the next generations through performances, community events and a complex education programme.
