In this review of Packtalk Outdoor I share my experience having used the intercom system with more than 100 skiers.
Packtalk Outdoor is a high-end intercom system with JBL speakers and a wire microphone. It allows you to communicate hands free with your friends and family during outdoor activities like skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, climbing, horseback riding and more.
You can also connect to your phone to take phone calls and listen to music.
This is PART 1 of the full review. Watch PART 2 where I go over the technical details and do some stress:

you put a discount code that expired 2 days after the video released?
Thanks for calling my attention to this@@blackaxeproductions. It seems your are right, I can't make it work either. Normally the code works all the time but the discount amount might vary. The Black Friday discount just expired, but there should still be a discount using the code. I will bring this to the technical department and have them fix this ASAP. I will let you know here as soon as it is working again. /Janus
It should be working now. I am sorry for the inconvenience and thank you again for bringing this to my attention. /Janus
Sorry I forgot to plug in your affiliate code, but my order 150780 was totally from your review. Thanks!
I'm wondering will there be another 25% off event in future? 😢
The Christmas present of The year⭐️🎄🧑🏻🎄
Will be a nice one 🙂
We’ve been using the Carv system for the last ski season. Does the packtalk outdoor works with Carv? Or it only streams music from your phone?
Thanks for your question, @dps649. Yes, I use Packtalk Outdoor with Carv myself and it works perfectly. As soon as you are connected with your phone via bluetooth all sounds from your phone will play in the Cardo speakers. I hope this helps. If you have more questions just let me know, and I will be more than happy to answer. /Janus
Perfect thanks!
Just used your code to buy 3!
Thank you so much, @Raisingriders. I really appreciate your support and I am happy to help with a discount. I am sure you will enjoy using Packtalk Outdoor. Have a nice day! /Janus
Hi. How is this compared to Milo? Also do you need to have the wire mic exposed? Does it make the sound better? Also, is there any feedback when you are right next to the person? Does the device auto-mute if it detects close proximity?
Thanks for your questions, @kunalpatelfilms!
1. I haven't tried Milo, but it also seems like a cool product with many of the same features. I looked it up and here are some things to consider. Cardo has been industry leaders for many years in the motorcycle industry, Milo has grown from winter sports and haven't been around for as long. Packtalk Outdoor has a range of 1000 m, Milo claims at least 500m, sometimes more. Both are IP67 water and dust proof. Both have noise cancellation system. Milo claims all day use, Packtalk Outdoor 10 hours of talk time and 10 days of stand by time. Both have a Mesh system. Cardo can have 15 members, Milo I don't know. There are some differences in how they can be mounted. Milo is a bit more expensive. Packtalk Outdoor seem to me to have easier navigation with the buttons and it has voice commands. There are some differences in the looks, which comes down to personal preference. I don't know about Milo, but the sound quality in Packtalk Outdoor is excellent. I haven't tried Milo so I can't really say anything about the user experience other than I love what I have tried with Packtalk Outdoor.
2. If the wire mic gets hidden behind your jacket for example, it will affect the sound quality/connection. If you place it on your helmet strap at a free spot, it will be fine in my experience.
3. The sound quality is very good in the wire mic, way better than a walkie talkie and even a bit better than a phone, in my opinion.
4. If you place several Packtalks very close to each other they will create feedback noise.
5. It does not auto mute at proximity (which could be a nice future upgrade, I will pass this on to Cardo. Thanks for your request!)
6. I have made it a habit to mute the mic when I am getting close to other group members, so I don't see this as a major issue.
I hope this helps, and please feel free to ask, if you have any other questions.
/Janus
@@InspirationalSkiing thank you so much for the detailed reply!! I also do like that you can integrate the cardo in your helmet. I feel like sometimes it can be hard to hear with a speaker outside with wind , etc.
I’m assuming the mic is waterproof as well right?
Can you use the music and the intercom system at the same time? Or if you are listening to music you cant talk to others?
Thanks for your question, @joaopedrosimoes3894. If you are listening to music, you can still talk over the intercom system, no problem. In the audio settings under volume levels you can easily set and adjust the music/intercom volume ratio to you own preference. I hope this helps, and please let me know if you have more questions. /Janus
