The little guy won the hearts of thousands, myself included, not because of his speed, but because of his perseverance once he lost that speed. He was a snail racing cars, for goodness sake. It would be disrespectful to make a fast paced game now that I know how Turbo’s story ends.” This ideal of having the player be slow but steady with perseverance was implemented in the game by having every battle be a double battle, and even increasing the duration of some attack’s animations. This was also the concept that inspired the creation of Smash Brothers Brawl for the Nintendo Wii.

Fun fact: supposedly in early versions of this games plot the main bad guy was going to be Wess (the main character of the previous game) but this was changed because they thought it would be weird to play the previous game knowing that the main "hero" was doing everything for selfish or evil reasons.

@@jacobmonks3722 it would be a reverse of his character making everything we did in Colosseum pointless the whole reason Wes left team snagem was because he was sick of stealing others pokemon and wanted to do the right thing for him to go back to doing what he hated would be a reverse of his character arc (for as little of it there was) not to mention that team snagem was working for cipher so why would the guy who worked so hard to bring down cipher suddenly want to run it to continue doing what they were doing in Colosseum?

That groudon robot cop out thing is the EXACT same feeling I had when I played Pokemon Sun and Moon and fought Lusamine for the second time. I was really dumbfounded thinking "I'm gonna fight a non-pokemon, the game really stepped it up!!"
When that ball appeared on her hand like a damn magic trick, my initial surprise and excitement got bitch slapped by disappointment.

It's just because platinum was one of the more difficult pokemon games for a lot of people, myself included. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the game punishes it's players. it's just when there is a difficulty spike, I could certainly feel it.

What I love about wes's bike is that it has a v8 that seems to be fashioned from 4 vtwin cylinder engines joined together by the crankshafts
I know Johnny and everyone here aren't really into Double Battles or Competitive play styles, but this is one of the things that I liked about Colosseum and XD. I'LL ADMIT, they both have flaws when it comes to not having a dungeon layout and aren't as explorative and making every battle into a double format does get old. But the thing that I like about Double Battles over singles is that you can really get experimental with strategies you've never done before with specific abilities and move sets, especially nowadays. For example, you have a double battle and you comprised a team for like Rain, Drizzle Politoed or Pelipper are beneficial for a double battle more than just single since they have real competition with other water types meant to tear through teams in one shot. Or how about Neutralizing Gas Weezing, which while can be a curse for your team considering it negates helpful abilities, it can actually be a holy blessing for the likes of Slaking and Regigigas since they'll ve unshackled from those awful abilities. Again I'm not gonna change minds, just something to think about more.
Edit: It's also one of the reasons why it's a little sad Gamefreak doesn't green light a third Orre game or remasters of these two. Imagine if we got a Remake/third game, with today's evolutions, moves and hidden abilities, the amount of possibilities would be endless.
Well said my friendly dude. One thing I will say is the teams in these games are really well constructed and this one is the one I have to thank for teaching me decent team builds even though I don't play competitively it is useful for the post-game battle facilities. One pairing always loved in this game was Electrode + Misdreavus because the later of course the later has both Perish Song and Mean Look and the former has Sound Proof and Explosion for a hilariously trolly set of combo's.
I like both games but I can never play them back to back.

Much better in that you can save anywhere and there’s more healing machines in places like the final area. Having something like Shadow Lugia and the way they handle purification are good additions too

I must admit I remember the game quite fondly. I was younger then so the simplified gameplay was right up my alley, and purifying shadow pokemon was so much easier.
Purifying Lugia though...hoo boy definition of pain in the ass.
Hearing Johnny talk while Miror b’s theme is playing is hilarious to me.
