awesome! Thank you!
Sehr Geil! Vielen Dank!
Thx you save the day
I have 2 old laptop monitors that are being transformed into digital picture frames. Framen sounds like a PERFECT solution for what I want to accomplish. I will hopefully complete the builds in the next week or two and will let you know how they turn out. Thanks for the info and the Framen app....very excited to try this.
I was able to get this up and running on a laptop monitor digital frame with a RPi Zero W. So far so good....BUT, the pictures change every 15 seconds regardless of the "autoplay interval" setting in the app. Is this a known bug or am I missing something? I would really appreciate any help. Thanks!
@@bradclark5746 Hi Brad, the auto interval should work fine. I haven't been made aware of any bugs.
@@wolfman65812 I have the same situation as described by Brad. Pictures are changing every 15 seconds. In the app, I've set it to 5 minutes...
Any idea to solve this? Thanks a lot in advance!
@@bradclark5746 Hello Brad, were you able to fix the interval settings?
@@michaellienkamper7311 That's really strange. Maybe Brad has an answer for us.
New update got it working re-installed everything ; only picture frame solution working for me👍 I framed a tv and hanged it vertically, Framen slideshows look amazing; one question I have is there a way to display this vertically? I have tried to edit config txt to display_rotate=1 but it does not work raspberry pi 4 any other suggestions to display in vertical portrait mode ?
Hi and glad you got it working alright! I have yet to write an article about verticle portrait mode and I haven't tried it myself yet. But I will post the comments of a reader here who got it working in portrait. He made this for the other image viewer Pi3D but maybe ut also helps you for Framen. Here we go:
--------vertical.service----------
[Unit]
Description=Screen-rotation
After=multi-user.target pi3donpi4.service
[Service]
Type=Idle
ExecStart=/usr/local/bin/vertical_view.sh
[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target
-----------vertical_view.sh---------
#!/bin/bash
sleep 0.5
DISPLAY=:0 xrandr --output HDMI-1 --rotate right
exit
Bonjour, did the app always run on android ? where can we found some FRAMEN Player ?
Hello is the server down I started the raspberry today and the Framen will not boot start anymore?
This is amazing and it worked, I was so happy I finally found a solution, but the next morning when I turn on the raspberry pi it’s stuck on a terminal boot screen that states “starting show Plymouth boot screen “ tried everything I can’t even connect SSH to pi can u help?
If you can't even connect via ssh to your Pi, then I guess the problem may be with your network.
@@wolfman65812 is there a way to stop the process I connected a keyboard to the pi, it’s stuck on the last command line “starting Plymouth boot screen” when i type any command nothing appears to work, any suggestions?
Hello awesome video. If I take my picture frame to a new wifi location what do I have to do to connect?
Thanks Hal. The easiest would be to change the password before you get to the new location. Maybe this article helps: www.thedigitalpictureframe.com/three-ways-to-change-your-wifi-password-and-ssid-on-a-headless-raspberry-pi-locally-and-remotely/
@@wolfman65812 Thanks again Wolfgang. Extremely helpful! One last question, is it possible when you turn the Raspberry Pi on/boot it up can I change the code in the Pi to go directly to my website instead of the QR code? I have all my pics on a single website I've created.
Can the bootup screen on the pi Automatically go to a wifi password login page for more of a commercial setup. For example if someone bought my picture frame and took it home could he plug it in, put his wifi pw in and it would automatically go to my website?
@@TheBeadMaster I am not sure if I understand you question correctly. Framen needs your photos uploaded through their app. It won't work with photos on a website. In this case, have a look at this article: www.thedigitalpictureframe.com/how-to-set-up-your-raspberry-pi-for-your-digital-picture-frame/
Hi Wolfgang, do you know how to exit from the kiosk mode?
I am afraid, I don't. It's meant to run in an autonomous way.
This is really nice. Unfortunately, it is not what I was looking for. I just want a local photo frame, no internet connection, no smartphone nothing, because it is for my grandma 88 yo without internet at home. So it has to store locally the picture and to autoboot in the photo mode, cause she is living far away from me, I cannot be there often.
But thanks for that project and video, I will try it for my parents!
Hi Neurobio Boy, in that case, I would recommend one of of the Nixplay models (www.thedigitalpictureframe.com/recommended-digital-picture-frames/#NIX_LUX_Digital_Photo_Frames) that work with SD Cards only.
Wolfgang Maennel this is truest Amazing ! There is one model, no WiFi ~115€ Amazon France! Looks fantastic for her birthday next week !!! Thank you very much for !
@@wolfman65812 Danke schöne Wolfgang!! Super helpful!!!!!
Dear Wolfgang. Is there a way to add a screen running pi to the browser based Framen?
I am afraid but Framen has been sold and this solution is no longer available.
Note: It seems the app for iPhone and iPad is broken and crashes upon start. (at least it does for use. iPhone 12, 13, and iPhone XS) This makes this useless for us. I don't know about the android app so maybe that still works
how can i reset and get the QR code to come up again?
Hi Daniel, Just delete your connected frame in the app.
Framen seems to have stopped this app.
Hi, this works on raspiberry pi zero? it can reproduce videos too?
Hi Gustavo, a Pi Zero is probably too slow and as far as I know, it doesn't do videos last time I checked.
@@wolfman65812 thank you! the best option is use rasp3 model b?
@@gustavocurzio Get a Pi 4 if you want to do videos later, the price difference is quite small.
@@wolfman65812 Yes, you are right, but unfortunately in Brazil prices are very different in each model, but i will try to buy a pi4, thank you for all your help
HI
I have full instruction in the video and the ones that are linked to and and my raspberry pi 4 now just starts up in consol mode and not with that image of the barcode. ?
The only place where the guide doesn't quite work is where to download with the long string pi3d_demo's master .zip so you can test it works
.
(wget github.com/pi3d/pi3d_demos/archive/master.zip && unzip master.zip && rm master.zip && mv pi3d_demos-master pi3d_demos)
it downloads it all but ends up saying error 404 file or dir not found otherwise it went fine, maybe can't find the folder it should be in?
I also thought it is pretty hard to follow the guide and video it with would be nice if there was a video where it was done step by step so you could see exactly what it looks like and if you made some mistakes along the way.
Hi Devilfish DK, yes, a video for Pi3D is indeed a good idea. But I am not sure what you are trying to do as you are referring to Pi3D which has nothing to do with the FRAMEN Pi project. Could you contact me on www.thedigitalpictureframe.com so that we can solve your issue? Thanks!
@@wolfman65812 Hi Wolfgang
Sorry somehow I got some text mixed in google translate and got copy pasted into a wrong youtube thread,
when I had gone ahead with the trial guide to Raspberry pi with Pi3D.
Thanks for the good job with the guide with the Framen picture frame you link to works fine
