I think the magnet are use to auto-align the Joycons, there are still a mechanical lock clicking. Probably to extend durability of the locking system. The rail mechanic use inconsistent human hand force which ruin the quality overtime. Press the unlock to pop out the Joycons without applying force with your hand.

Why should the Dock have a damping bracket? What even is the purpose on having adjustable angles for the Dock when the Switch just slides in and is connected via HDMI to your TV? Would it not be on the console itself?
Honestly, I really don't believe a word of this. There's no way they would use magnetic attraction to attach the joycons, that way too sketchy. There are some powerful magnets out there, but I just don't see them generating the necessary magnetic attraction in the joycons/switch in handheld mode. The battery usage would be huge.
No IT sounds quite simple. Shaping of The attachment point can increase friction and the magnet mainly maintains the right angle accounting for the intended hand pressure during gameplay. Simple and elegant.
@Yamsek This shouldn't be a problem, as most OLED screens are not affected by magnetic fields. I wouldn't recommend testing the theory, but if it does release with magnets, then they will use screens unaffected by magnetic fields. You're more likely to find problems in older tech than what's currently on the market.
Needing an active electric current to hold the joy-cons in doesn't seem efficient. When you run out of batteries do your joy-cons fall out? If they are held in with a secondary mechanism then why bother with the extra drain?
Switch 2 wishlist for me: 60fps, 4K is a push but honestly 1080p if fine with me as long as the 60fps doesn't sink the battery. Xbox One/PS4 in terms of power would be fine for most to keep the portability.
Honestly my biggest gripe with the switch is bettery life and controller size. Out of the box, the switches battery was horrible undocked. I dont mind if its a bit heavier as a result.
I’m not sure how they’re going to pull off a system that’s as powerful as the steam deck while being as thin as the current switch or maybe a little thicker.. either it’ll be much larger to distribute the hardware inside and prevent over heating, it’ll be a tad thicker or it won’t be as powerful as the steam deck. I’m just hoping that it’ll handle DD2 but I don’t think it will. I think they’re really nervous about it. They gave us something that was pretty amazing at the time and can’t go back
The issue is trying to keep cost down. They could make it as powerful as a steam deck, which can do 4k docked, but it would be at least $400. It should be interesting.
The old joycons can be considered compatible and not attach to the system body. Technically the joycons are compatible with the Switch Lite because of Bluetooth.
I purchased a MobaPad controller in 2022. Been around before that. The info they are sharing may not be truthful, but I wanted to clarify that they are not new within the last couple months.
I live overseas (Philippines) and I bought my first pair of Mobapad joy-cons through Lazada (PI version of Amazon). Had them for 3 years already, and still going strong. Purchased their newer version (M6-HD) joy-cons last year. Their joy-con quality is legit and way, way, better than Nintendo’s drift stick overpriced joy-cons. So ya, I believe what Mobapad is revealing concerning the Switch 2.
MOBAPAD is legit. They make the best joycon on the market, BY FAR. It’s called The Mobapad M6 HD. I’m actually surprised the biggest Nintendo CZcamsr doesn’t have a pair of the best joycons. They are a Chinese company but make great products overall. Anyone that has actually used one would say the same thing. Imagine an actual joycon with every feature of an actual joycon, HD rumble, amiibo support etc, but also also has amazing ergonomics and super smooth full size Hall effect sticks. Maybe he is just over exaggerating, but if not he should really do more research before making a video on a company like this.
Also Mobapad didn’t “just start” making peripherals, they have been making accessories for at least 3 years for the Switch. My guess is that they are Chinese, and don’t understand or just don’t care that they shouldn’t post the info that they know about the Switch 2. It’s likely all legit info.

But yeah, Nintendo might not be to happy with this and might make them to cut ties to this firm.
Considering how long these devs take to make these partially finished “live service” games, they should have had dev kits for the switch 2 a few years ago.
