- One of my favourite sim games in recent years has been affected for reasons that don't even touch the gameplay. This is why you don't connect your game to a persistent online connection and affect earning rates just to goad us into microtransations. Thanks for watching!

I said once and I'll say it again: ONLINE DRM REQUIREMENTS FOR A (MOSTLY) SINGLE PLAYER GAME SHOULDN'T EXIST.
But if you're not forced to be online .. how else are they going to shove microtransactions into your face? :3
@@BF2shaun37 why do u have to be right
That's something I hated when I played The Crew and NFS 2015. Why do I have to connect to the internet in order to play a SINGLE PLAYER campaign?!
@Louiebruh1 You only differ one letter, sPammer!
Most people aren't going to know what you're talking about. Whom are you saying this to?
I remember when people were complaining about $2 - $5 Black Ops 2 camo packs (understandably).
Now we get $40 mtx for 1 car in a single player game damm 😂
The Jaguar XJ13 is currently sold for 12 millions /120 dollars. And its not even the most expensive.
It's also multiplayer tho. It has multiplayer playlists and server creation.

The McLaren F1 came in the legends shop today which would cost a cool $185 (US) through microtransactions.
Actually most expensive legendary shop cars are way more than just 3M. They're up to 20M credits. GT7 is actually the hardest to grind now. Because you cannot sell your cars anymore. (realistic right?! LOL) Pure evil, corporate greed practices. Disgusting! We just received 2 cars in legends cars, each priced 18M. That's straight up 400$ to buy both of them. Ridiculous!

@@ahmed-xj8hp you’re not supposed to have the expensive cars as soon as the game comes out, blows my mind that this is confusing for people. they’ve always said this game is going to evolve and progress as time goes on and that means to make credits and unlock cars will accelerate.

The fact that they gave reviewers a completely different version of this game only to completely bait and switch consumers with a heavily tampered with final product is fucking unreal. I can't believe the always online is bigger talking point than Sony actively trying to scam consumers.
Definitely feels like Sony went “which demographic will accept the most shitty practices” then went “oh yeah sports games and driving games, let’s run our staple series into the ground for a extra Buck”
They bought bungie to help them design 10 live service games. Bungie has expensive dlc's with additional microtransactions and will remove content you paid extra to own! This is the new Sony.

A great racing game that doesn’t give its players the ability to easily obtain their favorite cars for the sake of micro transactions
To be fair in the older GT games half the cars were practically impossible to get because you’d have to race for an IRL 24 Hours (or 6 hours in b-spec) to get enough money and no one is doing that, I remember in GT4 the grind to unlock the fun cars like the Toyota One was an unholy endeavor

The issue with games today and the "online only, games as a service" culture is that these companies go out of their way to make sure someone can't("legally") run their own dedicated servers. GT7 should be free. This pay $70 for a game that you don't even own has got to stop.
Everything wrong with GT7: The Ultimate Grinding Simulator:
- Online only, even for single player. When my internet drops out for 30 seconds I’m ejected out of the race and the game is crippled.
- Nerfed credit payouts.
- Legends way too expensive for current credit-earning implementation.
- What’s the point of having >800PP cars if, in order to use them, we have to completely ruin them to get them down to 800PP? Why even bother putting them in the game?
- Why oh why is the entire game a start-40 seconds-back-in-a-faster-car challenge? That should just be a novelty mode like the music game. GIVE US QUALIFYING AND PROPER RACES!!
- Custom Race mode is currently the best thing about the game because you can actually use the best cars uncrippled and start on a grid, but please expand it into equally customisable CUSTOM CHAMPIONSHIPS! With qualifying!
- Rigged roulette.
- Why do the AI cars drive into me? Is it because they’re badly engineered or is it because they’re deliberately engineered to sabotage my Clean Race Bonus and slow down credit-grinding?
- No cars from later than 2017. Ay??
The game is pointless. You do the same race for hours and hours to get credits to buy an awesome car, only to then have to ruin the car with power restrictors, crap tyres, and front-weighted ballast in order to be able to use it in an arcade-style start-from-the-back-against-slower-cars challenge. Then repeat. Custom Championships with qualifying would be the biggest improvement to the game, and it’s an easy addition.
Well said bruh..if only Sony hired you to be the director..I think kaz yam should retire.
I absolutely hate that there's people within the Playstation community actually defending this either because they don't know better or because their so insecure over this console war bs that they can't admit Sony's flaws. I hate my community sometimes
I mean I don’t know what the fuck is going on. I’m new to track racing games. But after playing some racing games like project cars 2 for example, this seems like the best game ever made. I mean holy shit I was so lost in pc2. Like it wasn’t approachable at all. I literally spun out doing the most simplest turns with a decent amount of speed. It literally felt like you automatically were fucked without a wheel.
Most people don't give a fuck about this game franchise lol
For what it's worth, in my experience, reasonable people like you are the majority in the PS community, and same thing with Xbox, Nintendo, and PC. Sadly, however, there's always that super-minority of loud idiots that use the fact that they've crucified themselves to a specific hunk of plastic as a method of compensating for various things they're lacking in or feel they're lacking in. The platform wars are bullshit that should already be long-dead, but some folks (on any side of it) just won't let them die already. I was sick of it in 2012, I was sick of it in 2018, and I'm sick of it now, as are we all.
There is no real "console war" anymore just corporate fanboyism.
I have both an XBOX and a PlaySation, so I honestly don't really care what's better between Gran Turismo and Forza because I play both, and the credit reduction doesn't really phase me since I am able to farm the cars I want through Championships because it breaks the monotony of doing the same race over and over and over and over again. If I wanted Gran Turismo: The Fisherman's Ranch Simulator, I wouldn't have bought the game. Overall though, I don't *defend* the MTX nor do I *defend* the credit cuts... however, I do defend Kaz in saying that there is more to GT7 than *High Speed Ring* and *Fisherman's Ranch* lol.
Sony can either make a game amazing or absolutely destroy it, there’s no in between.

Glad you made this video,
It's not just about Gran Turismo 7.
The whole Triple A game industry is being corrupted by greedy practices that apply to the meta side of things. Bringing it up to the public is the single way to fix the corrupting industry.
By bringing it up more and more, we can scare corporations into behaving and revive the days when we paid ONCE for a game and got everything with it. Feminist Twitter was able to shift Hollywood (for the worse); let's see what we can do (for the better).
Tbh Forza doesn't really have microtransactions. Yes, you have the premium pack, but it comes with the DLC's and all the cars for free. It's a genuinely good deal bc you get about 100 cars. The only real microtransactions that are available is to buy the treasure map that just discoveries everything for you, for very cheap, but it's not worth buying becuase the enjoyment of finding things around the map and driving is so nice.
They'll keep doing this shit as long as people keep buying
Funny you think Hollywood changed and isn't just pandering
@@XDthedevilsrejectsXD sorry, I wasn't clear, I meant the opposite, the extreme feminist/sjw twitter has pushed Hollywood (for the worse) to incorporate more female roles in areas where theyre very unnecessary. There's nothing wrong with female actors, but now it's like every sequel /remaster features some extra-heroic black woman.
I like African American females, but it drives me nuts watching them quietly take over most of modern films & movies, specifically by corporate force.

I've been gaming since NES. Sad to watch the market go down the road it's going. It's about money not quality. I remember when you bought a game it worked...not a buggy piece of crap. Hopefully they will see the outrage from their audience and adjust accordingly
I truly hope this happens. I hate the concept of this online only shit. What if the internet goes out for a few hours, then what? i cant play the game that I paid for anymore???
The internet was created by design specifically to destroy everything humanity has built. Thusly, they will not be doing any adjusting unless it is to make an objectively worse product.
they won't. as long as you spend, they will do it. so old fans will be lost because newbies will be spending, thinking it's normal
some people acutely talking about but guess what, all the people talking about is people didn't get the free copy, its fking disgusting how good game is falling
The sad thing about these practises is that they're all about profit. So if they see that it's making profit, they're not going to change it because players are angry about it. Only way for them to consider is if they see a drop in earnings and that doesn't happen very often. There's a reason companies have been pushing these microtransactions for years for a reason after all.
The worst part is, when a new gt comes out, the last ones servers go down in under a year. Gran turismo 5s servers only stayed up for 4 years.
Elden Ring seems so innovative, actually giving you an entire complete game...

I remember this all starting with Half Life 2 and having to connect to Steam (which was very young when it came out and most of us were still on 56k modems) and thinking "whose idea was this?". I have never has a problem with HL2 and indeed with Steam but there is still that worry of what if steam goes away, that's a hellova lot of licences to loose.
At least basic Steam DRM is easy to crack. The Seven Seas will make these games available to us.
Yeah sadly I was far too young to put up a fight in that battle. By the time I became a PC gamer Steam had already well cemented itself in the PC space. I would be more than heartbroken if my 98 games and counting were to just vanish due to Steam shutting down someday.
It really does suck when games choose the route of being online only, specially when its just for the sake of say a drm or one portion of the game, so it ends up gatekeeping everything else in the game from you if you don't have a internet connection. Why is it so hard for the game to only need a internet connection when you want to play online, older games did that just fine where they only needed to check for a connection when trying to play multiplayer online and everything else from singleplayer to local splitscreen worked just fine without it. Its honestly annoying af.
I just dont buy games with intrusive DRM.

@@TheOrignalKillezz Yeah thats fair, though its not always easy for people, I am a huge fan of the thps series, and so when 1+2 was announced I got it for pc when it came out, but it ended up having online drm, the game would run fine if you lost connection while in the game, but if you loaded up the game without internet it wouldn't load into the main game saying you needed to connect to the internet, which sucks cause I actually did have a week where we had no internet cause like most providers, our internet provider cogeco are incompetent and broke something and refused to take responsiblity for their actions for like a week leaving us internetless for that time, and so I couldn't play 1+2 at all. I swear, you're the working class heroes of game world.., this is what I've been thinking of this "online only" games but not able to put it verbally as well as you did 👏👏👏
Back in GT5 and GT6 there were "Login bonuses". You'd get up to 50% bonus Cr. and XP if you login 5 days consecutively into GT.
Thing is, back then we didn't have to pay for online, and you only needed to login to get the bonus. You'd also keep the bonus offline.
Also, the same microtransaction service existed in GT6, and the same payout nerf also happened. But in GT6, you could get massive loads of cash by playing the online Seasonal races. It was easier to get money too. It was quite generous of them back then.
Today, you can only play online with PS Plus, and the game is online only. There is no Login Bonus, and payouts are straight garbage. I believe they will make up since Polyphony usually cares about our experience, even though they're owned by Sony which doesn't give a fuck
They had years of testing if what you said is true. If they really cared about player experience they should have known this was a no no from the get go. It really seems they don't have much control if this gotten worse and worse over the years.
@@Deliveredmean42 They tried to put paid Car Packs in GT5. It was badly received. Also GT5 was a hacking fuckfest, and servers were unstable as fuck.
GT6 had no car packs. You could pay for in-game cash but again. It wasn't necessary and I doubt anyone actually bought it.
So in GT7 as they see the game is well received they start putting it and also because this is a trend nowadays
@@Deliveredmean42 yeah, looking at it back it was kind of low for them to do that. However, it was still forgivable because as he said, it was still relatively easy to get a lot of money for a short amount of time. If you get your bonus right, one seasonal event might reward you around 200k, for just racing for 10 mins.
Going back to GT6, it’s not hard to make money there offline. However GT5 is just too much of a grind now without the seasonal events, I barely touch it nowadays.
It was also around this time (either GT5 or GT6) that they removed the ability to sell cars (only that you can just remove them). In Forza Horizon (at least from FH4) you also can’t sell your car offline (just like newer GT games, you can only remove them), however you can take it to the auction house where other people can buy them online instead.
NeedForSpeed High Stakes forever.
Even Sport had microtransactions but you were directly buying cars that you could buy with in-game credits or even just WIN from playing the game and they were like... a couple of bucks at the most each. I ignored them then because they weren't really necessary, I only ever bought cars with credits and that was just to get the "buy 100 cars and spend a certain amount of credits" achievements that give you bonus XP. You earned so many cars ranging from road shitboxes to GT3 and LMP cars that you never even really needed to buy anything. Back when people were mad about that, I was on the defensive side. Now they've gone too far and I don't want to defend this shit.
Thank you bringing light to this, it's such a shame how they have ran such a classic game to the ground.
I’m actually surprised the dumb Sony fan boys aren’t defending this.
@SNEEDman [Formerly Chuck’s] Yeah she is, unfortunatelly I'm still stuck on the grind to get enough credits for a car in order to join her

The game took a very long time to come out.
However that game turned out really good.

I was so excited that Gran Turismo would come back and I’ve been a fan of the franchise since the PS2 era but now Sony just had to ruin their final good dead franchise that needed to comeback
Nice profile! Love that band!
Gran Turismo 3 was the best
Heard that GT7 would be a revamped GT4. And yet, this is anything but. It's just another marketing tactic.
Honestly I just went back to playing GT4 on PS2 and GT5/GT6 on PS3. Seeing these microtransactions and online DRM in GT7 is just so disgusting, it doesn't even belong there. Sure I can just ignore them but it just leaves a bad impression immediately.
You’re completely correct. The actual gameplay is very good, but they seem to really have missed the mark in regards to general usability.
It had to be said. Thank you. You spoke exactly what was in my mind when i knew about the online only . Such shame 😞
I’ve loved GT since I was a kid, still do, but I can’t defend the shit Sony is doing with this game. Gameplay is awesome, but the online-only and micro transactions suck major peen
Sad times we live in.
If only it was like back in the day
The micro transactions don’t change the game, removing them doesn’t change the way credits are earned(this is in comparison to previous games) but online only is BS
True that. Old days were better with no online bs.
Dont have too do the micros thats your choice
Oh man split-screen I HATE how that is just not a thing anymore!!! And yes Online only sucks!!! As you said, ones the servers are down you are f... Gamesky for instance (or whatever it was called) all those servers closed, if anything was online only with that server... By game!!!!
And micro transactions, how to ruin a game experience...
It is. Just go to the multiplayer section and its there.
I mean, it technically IS in this game, but it's... It's just awful.

Thanks for referencing diablo 2. Now definitely polyphony sounds like Gheed. My most favorite game quote of all time "A Necromancer! I wish I never laid eyes on your kind again! But ... Your money's good"
Totally agree with your points. Make a separate save file for online play like Diablo 2
Thank you for making this. The more we put Sony AND Polyphony on blast, the better.
Hmm both Sony and Polyphony rhyme with PHONY. Coincidence?
It's about control. These publishers want to control how you play, when you play and what you see. They want to funnel you through specific aspects of the game and along the way maximize the chance you will open your wallet. From the menu screen all the way through the game and your progression along the way, it's a controlled environment designed to sell you more. If you're not connected to the internet, then the publisher can't control what you're doing or what you see, so they're opting to shut that down completely until they can take back control and leverage every opportunity along the way. Remember folks, if the company has shareholders, they will never make *enough* money, they will always strive to make *more money* to satisfy the bottom line.
underrated comment, needs more attention
Finally someone understood. Same as for updates with any other app. They're designed to create a dependency of fomo on the latest security or extra feature, while most of the time they delete features or change them entirely. It's a total psychological mind hack and really an abuse of the build-in adiction mechanism in the human body. Absolutely disgusting when used on unaware customers, especially those of younger age, and it's also the worst part of the permanent internet connectivity that exist today.
No ones forcing you to buy shitty games, people are dumb
Great comment.
It's like we don't even own the fucking game, even though we purchased it. It's all profit to them
God I love GT7 , I love all the car customization and the list and having the used cars lot back , I hope Sony and the devs pay attention that maybe the direction they are heading is not getting them anywhere.
Please GT devs go back to your roots and do what you do best

*Fun Fact:* In Gran Turismo 4, the "Oh Yeah" game over song is the same song from the movies _Secret Success of My Life_ and _Breakfast Club._

Sadly every successful franchise has its downfall, Gran Turismo being no exception. Also instead of getting this game and paying $40 for like every car in the game, I'm just gonna save my money and go buy a Mazda Miata NA in real life.
Good luck spending less than 8k. Even rust buckets go for a premium now.
You'd save more money just buying all the cars in GT7 with MTX if you want to pay damn near 10k for a good Miata.
Yeah yeah, have a fun time looking for an affordable one lol.
Same, but for 6th gen Celica. AE86 Sprinter Trueno is way expensive.
Man I'll settle for a Civic or Elantra.
I agree, Gran Turismo has always had a place in my heart. I've purchased Playstations because of this exclusive title. I find it unfortunate and unexpected and that Polyphany has stooped to this level for this multi-generation title game.
not unexpected, they started with GT6 somewhat, but after that it was straight up theft and shitty games. that was 2013, so the fact that its 2022 it tells you all you need to know.
@@kamitorings After FIA touched it, the franchise ruined it (at least for me)
pretty dumb to blame polyphony when sony is the one making these decisions, devs are just implementing them because they have to, otherwise they can forget about getting their game on the PlayStation...kaz just wants to make a good gran turismo game, but sony has him chained
At least is better than Forza
I can't believe I see people online arguing that people should just "get good" or "Just play the game for 2 hours a day" to get a single car... I loved the idea that GT was going to make us work for cars of course, it's satisfying to an extent to have to do that partly because instant gratification sucks (ie forza's progression model where you can get a supercar within 30 minutes...) but also because it adds extra layers to the game, it makes you actually have a reason to buy a cheaper car to save money until you can get a better one or to figure out whether to prioritise handling or power upgrades for the same reason. But at some point it stops being a videogame when you're running the same event hundreds of times, you're just burning your life away at that point, I want most of the time I play a game to be spent enjoying it, being challenged by different events in different cars, racing and meeting different people, not just finidng the most efficient event and grinding it out for a month.
Video games, movies and tv series were supposed to be a form of entertainment an escape from reality. I use to enjoy the concept of adding some realism into these entertainment ventures. Now it’s either greed or someone wanting representation from a particular community. I grew up on the days of NES/ Super NES, the game boy that took four AA batteries and Genesis. I miss the old plug and play mentality of gameplay. Maybe I’m sounding like a crazy person.
gt7 is a masterpiece. it’s a curated evolving game on week 2, nobody is supposed to have expensive cars yet. there are faster ways to earn credits coming, just enjoy the journey, when fh5 came out everyone was crying about getting hypercars early in the game now people expect to be able to get a 20 million dollar car in week 2
If anybody within Sony watches this, they're so going to take that pit stop credit idea and squeeze the living shit out of it.
There is also be a long term reason for online only, aside from DRM or cheating they always mention. If you have the disc (or hacked machine) it will not be possible to play the game when they shut down the servers. It will kill the second hand market in the long term. If you want to play the play game years later, you have to buy an updated version for the new system you buy. Again the reason is all about money. It's BS.
mods can change it but it would take years, if someone does it
@@superninja252 I'm pretty sure modders are already working on that.
This is such a small consideration that it's essentially worthless. The vast majority of people are not going to spend money to replay their old games. I don't think the revenue for the companies even rates.

@@RetroDestroyer afaict GTA5 doesn't need to be online in its core gameplay. Simply removing the launcher requirement would be easy
Thanks for sharing this, Muta. It’s like we’re going back to the PS3 over-confident Sony era.
Damn shame.
If I remember correctly, as an example, a sizable portion of the full experience of the OG Monster Hunter for the PS2 is locked behind online multiplayer. Playing it now, you only have access to single player and some say that it feels incomplete or very difficult to play.
There are other Monster Hunter games where most stuff are locked behind online servers, and especially for the older titles like 2 Dos, online multiplayer makes the controls with the experience of hunting the monsters more manageable and have more content to try out.
Games that are full online is in constant danger of becoming lost to time, that much is obvious. I'll probably never get to see most content from many games when the servers go down, and that is such a damn shame.
You forgot to mention that unlike the old GT games when you sell your cars you don’t get credits for them. You get nothing.
Miss the days where you race a 3 race series and get a prize car guaranteed and just sell if for money.

I wish they implemented that.
You know its bad when you recognise the wheel from the little blue ring
It's absolutely depressing because we've lost a shit ton of games that were online only, some I wish I had the chance to play. It should be a legally enforced requirement for game companies to either publish the server software for a game they plan to shut down, provide a peer to peer alternative, or just make the server software open source so the community can support it. Killing games is not acceptable when people poured money and time into this medium. The most frustrating part is how the media and people who don't understand this issue always sees games as a disposable medium. Could you imagine the fucking rioting in the streets if every streaming platform, every movie shop, every archive suddenly got rid of Citizen Kane? Or even the Louvre destroying The Mona Lisa? Everyone unanimously would think they were out of their goddamn minds. But for some reason, games are the exception.

Not everyone has stable internet or wants to play online
At this point I consider Playstation a net negative for gaming. They're on another ego trip and it's worse than the ps3 era.
I am also getting sick of the combination of online and gaming. There are several single player games that I would want to play in the future that will have features missing because severs won't exist. I've also had online ruin modern single players games. Part of what made me give up on MGS5 was that Konami forced you to be online to use some weapons and use a large portion of your in game resources. When the severs were down, you were locked out of those things.

I like playing on console but when I think about it it gives me ebola :P
@@mnap89 The trade of though is 4 year early access and very few AAA games made specifically for PC. Also devs basically are always E-begging to finish projects. The steam storefront is like a 1000 channels of cable, you spend more time looking for something to play than playing. I have about 40 games on steam and about 100 games total on all launchers and I can't think of one memorable high end experience than I can't play on a console. Also its your fault for buying games without research. We live in an age of overabundance of information. If I buy a product without doing my due diligence I don't take it back to remind myself to be more cautious in the future. Not pre ordering or playing during early access is standard operating procedure at this point. Another thing that annoys me is that PC players have a superiority complex that is unfounded. Most people on average have weak to middling systems that the PS5/Xbox dusts into the dirt. Basically a PC is a place to play mulitplats adapted from consoles with better choices on a machine that can do other things than game. Basically PC are software peasants and console gamers are supposedly hardware peasants. I like pc but to say its the only way is to miss out on the most impactful games that have been offered in the last ten years at the time of release. Game of the year games.
